I found this at a thrift store for $10.25 in Hampton, Virginia. It was fairly dirty when I first acquired it, but it doesn't look bad now that it was thoroughly cleaned. I love the color scheme of this Convertible. The low hum of the motor is also quite relaxing.

Just awesome! The Model U4175, introduced in 1979, succeeded the similar Model U4185 also with a goldstone ranger hood but with a different, larger bag jacket color, and pattern.

Overall compliment to say it’s awesome you go for both fans and vacuums. I was that way as a little kid but I To this day go more for fans.

I have a similar one like this model, the U4014, we called here in Germany and Europe "Ranger" and it is Made in Great-Britain.

That's the one of the only hoover units I'll purchase besides the decade 80 or 800's. Those and the older eureka as well as the older and newer sanitaire uprights are made to last. Unlike these newer units that are sold in retail stores which are throwaway units.

I REFUSE to purchase a newer hoover or eureka. The best vacuum your going to find in retail stores is shark or Dyson. I'd rather buy and older unit that last.

That's a nice specimen of Hoover's "ranger" hood of the early 1980s. I'm unsure but guess that the hood color was called oyster white. Looks and sounds like you got a great bargain for $10.25! The Madras bag pattern is classic.

This was the first vacuum that I bought when I started collecting and i just recently got another one! It works really well to clean around our 1938 GE vortalex "air circulator" pedestal :D

The church I go to has a vacuum similar to that one except it's a Custom Convertible and the base color is light blue. A video of the vacuum is on my vacuum channel ST Vacuums.
