Thanks for a very clear video on belt replacement. I have a different model vintage JVC KD-2 cassette deck. Pretty similar once the case was fully apart. One of the keys was removing the blue screws! Used your suggestion for the belt replacement company. Easy peasy!!!
I have the same model that has sat unused for at least 20 years. Tried to use it the other day and it seriously sticks and drags . . . has problems rewinding or FF. Does that sound like an old belt issue to you? I'm not nearly as competent in these matters as you . . . but the unit looks to be in great physical condition . . . no abuse ever. Just won't play without dragging or sticking. Thanks for the informative video.
I don't have that information. If I remember correctly, I got them from a website like Turntable Belts . com in Portland, OR. They also sell cassette deck kits. Just go to Google and you will eventually find what you need. I hope. Good luck!
I have a KD 25 bought in 1978. I think the belts are starting to go bad as it seems to run a little slow. Guess being inside preserved them for 46 years.
I would like to say yes, but the truth is I don't know. I looked it (KD-7) up on tapeheads.net and it sounds like a different process. I might have to find one and peel it open.
Hey, I know this video is super old, but hoping you might still be able to help! I have one of these cassette decks and the auto stop function keeps kicking in when it shouldn’t. Do you have any tips for that?
Geez, I wish I could help. I don't know on this one. Maybe another viewer can chime in here and make a suggestion. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck! They are cool old decks!
Make sure the counter belt have the correct tension, there is a sensor at the back of the tape counter that kicks in if the belt is not moving. That is the auto stop device.
