Hey Michael. Sorry this is off topic of this thread but where do you get those vinyl/plexiglass risers to make figures seen in the back rows of the shelves? All I can find is jewelry ones that are too wide. Got a link? Big fan keep up the good work! Nerdmaste!

Great video. I've done this many times and I can tell you it's a whole lot easier if you remove the armor and arms before making the repair. It allows you to get a really firm hold on the figure's torso without risk of damaging the accessories in the process. I'm actually impressed that you didn't ruin the cape so nice work.

Its great to see a video of the process being done as its being done :) I have no broken bands yet, but I do have a few that are a little loosey goosey. I suspect those bands don't have long. So, I will be buying some of these from Amos Del Retro as well soon just to hang on to for that moment I will need them and then refer to this video tutorial. I really appreciate it as I am sure other collectors do. Thank you Michael!

This is fantastic. I purchased these connectors months back after watching this video. I finally got around to fixing Beastman and Hordak today. I used the hair dryer technique and followed your process. It was painless and smooth thanks to you and these bands. Figures now look tip top and are ready for display. Can't thank you enough. Great informative content as always. Nerdmaste bro.

If they would've had these when I was growing up I wouldn't have lost my figures when the legs broke. These will also work on those old Remco Conan and Warlord figures released around the same time. Great instructional vintage toy repair video!

Wish I could say my experience was smooth as yours, but I use to have a really hard time to make the rubber connector go through the waist, and ended up ruining two rubbers. :( Still, I could fix my Skeletor and Rio Blast. Maybe I can get more luck with the remaining rubbers and figures when I try it once again next time.

This helps so much! When my Hordak came in the mail and I placed him on my self... hi's legs came off. The person I bought him from replaced the bands in hi's legs. But I had to sent him back to the seller. Never want to go through that agein.😒 Also I love your channel. 🖤

I think i need a blunter instrument for pushing the joints into the legs. Used same tools you did but my first attempt almost tore the joint. Probably gonna need to repair it again later. Hopefully second attempt goes better. But even torn, King Randor’s legs are in better shape now than some other figures.

You know, I tried to watch another toy video and all I could handle was about 15 seconds. It was like a conference call on a toy, boring. Your videos have so much character, Mr. Mercy! You're my new favorite channel and top 2nd host of a RU-vid channel. My mom was over when I was watching and she said you have such a relaxing voice. I said you have more of a radio/TV voice. But guess what!? You're mother approved! ;) These would of been handy as a kid, but as you mentioned, I'd probably just get frustrated and make a mess of things....then my mom, like always, would calm me down and try to help. I'm sure you've heard this before, but for people who don't have the time, the space, THE MONEY to relive their childhood toys, we get to take that trip down nostalgia lane with you. I couldn't think of anyone better because your videos ooze (sorry, just finished watching your Ghostbuster Firehouse video last night) the same love that we all have for these vintage toys and the wonderful memories that come with them. We're a unique generation, one day we'll be gone, and that's why it's also so important to archive our memories. Thank you for another great video!
@MichaelMercy
@MichaelMercy 6 лет назад
Thanks Jesse! I greatly enjoyed reading that. I feel like printing that out and putting it on one of my shelves as a keepsake. :D Great to hear your mom likes the channel too, that makes 2 now, yours and my own! I don't have the income I once did but I'm glad I used it at the time to build this collection instead of on booze, drugs or other wastes of money so that I can now enjoy them in the leaner years as well as share them with others who wouldn't be able to afford them. Thanks for the encouraging words good brother, Nerdmasté! 🙏

I think Mattel put elastics in the legs because they wanted the toys to break and be replaced by buying the same character again.

It's to bad, the MOTU figures didn't have a screw on the hip/waist section like on the GIJoes. Then you could fix the legs, place them in the waist section and clamshell them back together with a screw. I have 2 he-man figures that always fall down, these seems like a very good fix. I currently fixed some of my old Joes...but have 6 left that worry me. The screws are super tight and I'm worried about stripping the heads that I stopped and put them on hold. Any tips on those?
@andrewmaclellan608
@andrewmaclellan608 6 лет назад
Try the next size up of screwdriver from whatever you're currently using first to see if you can get a good grip on the screw to turn it. I've discovered that not all Joes were actually put together with the same size screws. Push into the screw as you try to turn it, I have original '82 Joes that can take the pressure without damaging the torso (cracking or worse does not happen). Lastly if none of that works you can try to use a Dremel or other similar tool to literally grind the head of the screw into oblivion and just take the torso apart. Remember that Zartan and his siblings were glued together - the screw in the back does nothing for them.

Hi, thank you for making these MOTU videos; however, I couldn't find one where you talk about your motu 80's collection. More specifically, the vehicles you have in this video as a background. For example, that red one where Mekaneck is sitting. What is the name of it?

WHY is it always hordak I see with broken legs the most?
@rocketcon
@rocketcon 6 лет назад
It's because Hordak's legs were made too thick to fit properly into the existing MOTU crotch piece. If you compare him to the 1982 figures, his upper thigh is slightly bulkier than the old legs that were used on He-Man/Skeletor/Beast Man etc. So the rubber connector gets stretched too much.
