I’ve been picking up the modern Mego Star Trek figures. Got Borg Prichard and Q just the other day. I just really love the simplicity of them vs modern toys.
Those look great Dave! I really love the colors from toys back then!😁👍 I admire folks like you that can hang on to a figure for 20+ years!!! Awesome! Congratulations on a great collection 😁😁😁
Nice collection Dave! I sold off half of my own Mego collection last year, my collection now is hardly a collection at all to be honest but most of what i have left are 1's that hold great memories for me. (sorry for my over use of the word 'collection'). :-)
When I was a kid I had Batman, Robin, Superman, Captain America, and Spider-Man. I always loved the larger size and articulation of the Mego dolls compared to my Five POA Kenner Star Wars figures. Of course, Star Wars won out in the end for vehicles and the massive range of the line. Still, Mego was a close second until He-man came out. Thank you for sharing your amazing collection! Cheers!🙏
I have the original Tom Baker with original clothing. I have a repro sonic screwdriver and fedora, just looking for a scarf to complete him but the scarfs on their own are as rare as hens teeth, so I may have to find a way of making him one at some point. I do have some of the new Star Trek mego's. The Wrath of Khan set looks great (especially Khan..looks really like Ricardo Montalban).
Thank you for sharing, great collection and repair videos, the information has helped tremendously. These are all good Mego lines, but the Space 1999 line is very special because this was a memorable show, plus the Mego figures are very well made, and those of us living in the US could not buy those figures, the Mattel Space 1999 figures are just not as good.
Thanks Dave. Nice collection. Watching your channel inspired me to buy my first vintage Mego Captain Kirk last year. Love to see a restoration of the Enterprise bridge playset if you ever get one. Keep up the great work. Ant 👍😊
Great collection my favorite were the mego star trek and Batman and robin, I grew up with those. Question: I purchased a diamond select star trek enterprise years ago still mint in box I was wondering if these are rare because I haven't seen them in awhile. Keep the great videos coming
Thank you Dave for showing us your Mego collection. In Germany these figures are not very often to be found. I like your Space 1999 figures a lot. Captain zantor played by Christopher Lee. Such a friendly alien person who arrived in his spaceship at the moonbase. And the other men from the Base. Alan Carter, Paul Morrow and Commander John Koenig. Dr. Helena Russel is missing as a figure. Barbara Bain was seen at Space 1999 conventions many times. Nowadays no more comicons and conventions. Hopefully in the future we turn to normal. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Wow that would be awesome if you could do the mego superman project in your next video or very near future. I have a mego superman just like yours i just recently got last year an his outfit has light stains on it and would great to see exactly what you use to remove stains. Awesome collection my friend 👍
Here's an in-the-weeds explanation for your Kirk figure: You have an ultra rare Mego Kirk variant from "The Enemy Within." It's the evil Kirk that beams in with a standard tunic (instead of the wraparound he beamed up from the planet in) missing the Enterprise delta shield assignment patch.
wow zombie Ponch is pretty scary lol .. great collection ,I never got into the Mego stuff I don't even recall seeing it here in Ireland but I did pick up some the modern Mego inspired things like Venture Bro's and The real Ghostbusters , also got the modern original Battlestar Cylon but its a big let down . not very articulated at all. :(
Big Fan! Have Cap, Falcon,Joker, Batman,Robin, Spiderman, looking for Logan's run, Buck Rogers! And Starsky and Hutch! That's Awesome. Let me know where you get your figures! Keep it up! R
All of those are soooo cool ! But the only 8 inch Mego's I had as a child were the Kirk and Spock, Planet of the Apes Cornelius and Marvel Spiderman. But boy did I love them. My Dad and I were MASSIVE Trekkies, me being into Star Trek before I was on solid food. And of course I was a fan of the Grantray-Lawrence/Krantz Animation Spiderman show so loved Spidey as well... ... so you could imagine that poor old Cornelius got a$$-whupped on the regular ! Poor fellow. He really coulda used some back up in the form of a Green Goblin or Lizard or Klingon... Oh well...
I loved Mego figures as a kid. Around 1975 I had a nice collection that included Superman, Spiderman, The Scarecrow and Tin-Man from The Wizard of OZ, and the entire Planet of The Apes cast: Astronaut, Cornelius, Zira, Dr Zeus, and Gorilla Soldier. I even had the tree house! If only we didn't move so much when I was growing up, maybe my Mom wouldn't have thrown so many of my toys away...
Surprised to hear Mego wasn't that popular in the UK. They were certainly popular in Australia in the 70s, although we never called them megos. I did have Captain America as a kid and I recently acquired him and Spiderman which I also had. 🙂
I’ve got the new POTA figures on pre order from Frank Wojo at Absolutely Retro already. Can’t wait. Got a good look at them on the livestream over the weekend.
My dad has my old naked Fonz in his office with moveable thumbs and a lever on the back for classic "eeeeey" pose. Might look to restore him at some point, but the leather jacket may be an issue.
Just in case you do decide to become more 'actiive' in collecting Mego's (especially the Apes) the Gorilla you have in your spares tub is actually General Ursus from the Beneath the Planet of the Apes film. I had him when I was a kid for some reason and I can still remember the feel of his 'leather' tunic and his purple tights! lol
Would love to see you do a restored The Thing from the FF. I had him and the Human Torch and played with them so much Things' srm fell off. Big arms on the figure and the clip that held it on wore through the plastic section. Only his costume ended up holding it in place. Love a bit of Mego. They did do a Wizard of Oz range strangely?
a very nice collection Dave, two questions, where was Paul Stanley figure,?? and at some point could you please do an updated action man tour ,it would nice to see the adventure that you restored and bullet man .
That’s an awesome collection 😲 I’ve always have a special place in my heart for the astronauts the Mego, Action Man, GI Joe and even Madelman 🤔 those where always amazing
I have to say I am very impressed by the Mego face sculpts, many of them look really good. And to be fair it is just in the last couple of years normal action figures and such have gotten a good likenes when they do them based on real people. So seeing those are really impressive.
Love the zombie Ponch, and the Buck Rogers stuntman figure. One of a kinds, photoshop custom boxes for them. You just need a Bones McCoy to complete your trio.
I’m not sure how the fonz was made it past production due to his very stereotypical design. The gelled hair, the black jacket and right down to his thumbs in the air. This is everything in modern day society that you don’t want with a figure.
