I love the dress un-cinched, I think it sits really beautifully. Not everything has to be closely fitted if it's beautifully proportioned like this dress.

It's adorable on you!!! The tiny gingham check against the floral is perfect, too - nice of your sister to suggest it. Yep, when I learned to sew in a class we were told to pick a busy print for the dress we made - doesn't show as much of the unpicking marks, too!

It looks like a babydoll dress.❤ Most of my dresses are in a babydoll cut so I really lick how this came out. It’s so cute.❤

This is gorgeous Julie, the gingham adds so much, and from far away it also compliments the lavender shoes too, that mini print just goes with so much- brilliant addition! I love the fit and flare nature of it with the gathered skirt. I squealed when I saw your video lol- my husband was looking at me with all types of side eye lol. ALso, while I have you here, let's talk about this rack behind you bursting with autumnal shades, gorgeous prints, and is that a puff-sleeved sweater I see? Let's talk about it! Ooohh, yes, as a dress I like it but as a top I love it. You should most definately make more of the bodice as a top.

You could try popping in some shoulder pads to raise the shoulders. The 50’s didn’t have as strong shoulders as the 40’s (or ‘80’s 😂) but stronger than current trends. My waist is also short and I find shoulder pads help balance the silhouette. You did a phenomenal job and I love the pattern mixing!

That dress is beautiful and looks great on you😊 I love the ditzy print. I am also curvy, but I am terrible at adjusting patterns. I did however put a zipper in a jumper that did not have one to make it easier to get on. It fits without the zipper, but I am more comfortable with it.
