My parents got me this exact same stereo for Christmas back in the early 80s and it was so awesome, it lasted nearly 20 years and i finally wore it out , i would love to find another one just to bring back good times :) , Sears was the greatest!!!
It just needs some contact cleaner squirted in the control pots and worked back and forth a few times to clean the oxidized volume control and switches.
Exact same model my parents had. Came with fairly-decent two-way speakers which I still have around. No Dolby, and no manual recording-level controls, but it made fairly good cassette recordings with quality normal-bias tape (unit couldn't accommodate high-bias or metal tapes). Can't speak for the eight-track unit, at least as far as recording was concerned. With the cassette deck, there was no real need to record on the eight-track unit, unless you needed tapes for your car.
Whew❤ ok I I know you didn't argue with him I would have done the same thing I found some too I found the JCPenney version just a couple of weeks ago at a thrift store the dust cover is just like this one cleaners it could be it's beautiful I know how you feel👏👏👏🍻🥂🍦👏
Hi, I have a question if you read this comment. I have recently acquired this same combo. But nothing else plays on it but the record player and only at one volume. Did you have speakers or is mine broke?
It went on top of the records in the stack, to aid the automatic changer. If I remember correctly, the automatic spindle could be taken out, and replaced with a smaller one for individual record play.
If the cosmetic condition is really good, I wouldn't sell it for less than at least $60. If the cosmetic condition is great and everything works, no less than a $100.
Hey I just got one of these the other day and my record plate doesn't seem to spin, I can't find any manuals online so I'm on a last ditch effort here if anyone can help!
@@Danny-gs3zn sorry mate no luck, ended up just tossing the thing, I think it was something with the timing belt but without a manual it was like groping in the dark for a light switch I'm afraid
