I just put my hands on the RE-1210 and its a pure beauty. Maybe not the most amazing sounding system compare to Marantz/Sansui/Kenwood etc... but man the concept only and the look of this beast is impressive. And good thing at least these were made in Japan to be branded to Sears. Wonder if it wouldn't be SANYO who developed it but I'll double check. Just got it and its fully working, need some cleaning with the pots etc.. but everything is working. I bet this alone will be the center of attraction when people gather at home for a nice dinner listening to some Dian Kral etc... ;-) Thanks for making this video @packrat79
Hi there, thanks for the video, I have a Sears re-1210, very similar, actually cant see anything to diferent. What did you replace your dial lamps with, i have a few to change on my unit. Do you remember tge voltage? Somebody who came over just saw the unit and wants to buy it, im hesitating as i dont see them around to much and are very industrial looking. I might regret it later. Also only have sound out of the right A and B speaker terminals, just static on the left. Thanks again, Marc
I think this was a rebranded Yorx Stereo Center. When Yorx first started out in the ‘70s they made fairly feature laden compact systems like this that attracted some attention from serious consumers. But their stuff got much cheaper and junkier after these initial units and they were mostly selling junk by the early ‘80s. I’d peg this unit as ‘79 or thereabouts, just before metal tape entered the market. This unit supports chrome and ferrichrome tape and sports Dolby, all of which place it as fairly high end for an all-in-one. I notice it also has inputs for both a ceramic and magnetic phono cartridge, so it has a phono preamp as well.
