Hello. Im from the uk. That is a last of the line BSR changer from 1980. They added a synchronous motor to this one, so that's a bonus. I like these kind of stereos with 8 track. Sadly in house 8 track systems weren't as popular here so sadly you rarely see these all in one units with 8 track. I used to have a lloyds during the 90's I wish i had it now. Although not real hi'fi, these kind of systems are very nice to use and they sound very pleasant. Definitely well worth the effort. I have a 1974 sanyo with 8 track and a mini semi auto T.T which has 4 way spatial sound.

The problem with the 8 track player most likely is a bad belt on the assembly. Another thing to check is the tape head bracket those seam to get old and crack

Have several standalone 8 track players/recorders. To me, they're fun to work on as are the cartridges. Mostly need a new belt, lube/oil, especially the track change mechanisms. If it's a later 70s model, probably has the plastic frame head mount that is usually cracked and needs to be glued. If you get the player working and head calibrated and play a good condition cartridge, they can sound very good. Thanks for the video!

Very helpful, thanksl. I have a Sears 304.91717 150 series AM-FM Stereo 8-Track record player that the record player isn't working. I was expecting a belt, but came across the idler wheel, which threw me for a loop. Plastic, and looks like there's a groove that was filled with grease or something. I don't know....there's grease all over the inside, so a pain to clean and get to stuff. Your video is helping me place everything, so hopefully I can get it back to working shape. It was my parents...and now my son wants it for his old (my parents) vinyl. Thanks!

I haven't even started the video, and I have to say that I looove this sort of stereo system. Not because of the sound quality, (I have some extremely good gear for that lol), but because it is a trip to the 70s, whence I came. In those days I would have looked down on such things, but not I realize they are more cultural objects than anything. Also, I love dial tuning with real analog tuners hehe.

Very probable that the sound from these kind of units sounds better than you may well think. They can also be improved on for slightly better sound as well by changing a few components in the PSU for modern active devises. They're not full on hi'fi and never will be, but still very interesting & pleasant sounding.

The power supply units in these kind of systems are quite simple. I bought a 1977 lloyds from a carboot sale in the mid 1990's for about £3. As i now know more about what makes these things work, i wish i still had it. Very rare these all in one systems with inbuilt 8 track player here in the uk.
