I had this little set in my boats emergency dry storage box and come to find out it isn't so dry! So I decided to make a video restoring it. Being I still use this little set I didn't want to re chrome anything or spend extra time fine detailing it because it still gets used instead of being a display item. I think it came out alot better though!

Nicely done. Finally it's nice to see people use a sand blasting booth and powder coat to restore this stuff. i used to cringe seeing these people using a power drill and a wire brush. The hard part of painting the ratchet box was spraying the hinge completely, there will always be spots you have missed.

I found what looks like the exact same set a few months ago in my pops old tool box and it was wrapped in a towel, no rust except for a little on the inside front left bottom corner. Its funny because my grandma retired from sears in 93 after 29 years and almost all pops tools were sears or craftsman named. He was a head chief mechanic for eastern air lines for 22 years and my dad said he never once complained about any tools he got from sears. This must have been a special exception for his cheap ole ass hahaha.

@tombryant4518
@tombryant4518 5 лет назад
Canadian_Wolf 83 It’s called powder coating. The powder, and whatever you’re painting have opposite charges so the powder is attracted to, and stays on your project. Then you bake it in the oven to melt/dry it. It’s very tough, and the colour availability is endless. You can even get glow in the dark stuff.

So many people tag about SNAP ON,being so costly. I'd like to change the way you think about this. Is it more expensive to replace cheap tools every few years? Or is it cheaper to buy good tools that LAST? I HAVE S-O side cutters that I bought more than 25 years ago,and they STILL can cut a 16d nail in two. Same deal with my snapping pliers from S-O,well they can't cut a 16d nail but you know what I mean.. It's ALL but impossible to buy GOOD TOOLS today,cheap tools have run them out of the market place. You see a $6 screwdriver and there's a .99 ¢down the aisle most will buy the 99¢ over and over,using it as a baby prybar,or scraper ruins those inferior tools. In the end,it IS a choice. DURABLE,LONG LASTING TOOLS COST.CHEAP KNOCK OFFS COST A LOT MORE...But also depends on took use &application. I don't think I'm gonna need a $13 socket to do a break job.. BEST OF LUCK!

How to be a good restoration: 1. not soak in mud to "look rusty" 2. SANDBLASTING!!!

@АлексейПашкевич-ф5ю
А как же разобрать трещётку и дать ей новую смазку? Промыл всякой химией. После такого через месяц снова заржавеет и можно новый видос снимать 😂😂

Can you use beach sand? I live in Florida and unlike Geico this could save me hundreds of dollars.
@looloo6322
@looloo6322 5 лет назад
No beach sand is round from the waves. Sand blast sand is crushed so it is rough. Also most sand blasters use a specific type of media, black beauty, sodapowder etc.

Read the description / first few comments you dipshit. It was taken apart but the footage wasn’t included due to being filmed in vertical mode in the phone and couldn’t be edited to match the same.

I saw a guy on youtube (from New Zealand IIRC) fill in the BACK of the tool-storing plastic tray with builders expanding foam, which makes it MUCH stronger, for a longer life. Edit; found it, around 18:40 in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ULUw5gtzj4.html
