Good video. Always wondered about the sizing of vintage swannies and wool wear so cheers for explaining.

You should do a vid on what you should be paying for a vintage piece. There are some crazy prices and some bargains but not sure with ranger / bushman and so forth.

I have seen some outrageous prices on old Swanndri clothes and some real bargains. For an old Ranger Shirt in good nick $50 seems to be a standard starting price. For a Rover Coat, $80 seems to be the standard starting price.

Thanks for the information. I've been on a wool journey. I have an old wool Cruiser from Filson before they took a dive. A Boreal Mountain Anorak with Fur for my wife. Just ordered an older 3xos grey original Swanndri to try for me. I'm 6 foot and around 250 lbs /115 kilos so hopefully its good. Take care.

Thanks for the comments. Our summer season is seeing the second hand Swanndri wool garments at good prices at the moment here in NZ. TradeMe is loaded with them.

Can I ask what you mean by Filson took a dive? In quality? Cheers

@@oilburner8548 I was probably to harsh but they upped their prices and moved some manufacturing to India and China, some stuff is still made stateside. They also altered their cuts to be more of a style brand than the original workwear fit. I've heard some quality complaints but haven't looked into those. I believe Carl Murkoskis(sp) channels went into it a little.

@JMGeronimo ah yeah usual story, that's not too harsh it's true! If I can ever afford one I want a USA made one and nothing else, the older ones here in the UK go for crazy prices like £500 -600 = that's what 800 dollars!! Thanks for the info 👍

Good stuff mate, as soon as you said os I thought must be over size. Interestingly I bought a swandri not so long ago, a large, and man it was massive. The sleeves went way beyond my hands. I risked it, I washed and dried it, and it shrunk, to my size believe it or not, fits perfectly now. great to see a video from you, information like this is very helpful. All the best, Chris.

Thanks Chris. Swannies are a great piece of kit. I normally wear Large sizes but with the modern Swanndri's it is a different story. My new Mosgiel Bush Shirt (coat) is Large, but my new Ranger Shirt is Medium. Both fit me will well but are two different sizes. I am guessing your Swanndri is the Ranger Shirt?

@@southernlandsolo7839 Thanks for the nfo, lol yes, it is the Ranger shirt, a bit thinner but fits snug now. I also have the bush shirt, the one with the hood in green and black. I had another one for 15 years that I bouhgt 2nd hand, eventually the sleeves came off and I reluctently had to let it go. Cheers Bud

Very interesting Dave. I can see how OS might be confusing as these days it does seem to refer to "one size". Cheers

Thanks for the video! I’m in Hawaii, found a Swanndri jacket in a thrift store (Goodwill), and just noticed the odd size SSM on it. Now I know what size it is so I can confidently list it on eBay! Mahalo!

Awesome bro. I was in Hawaii a few years ago. Awesome state bro. I am a bit surprised to hear of a wool garment in that hot place though lol

@@southernlandsolo7839 Lots of military here. I figured they move here and donate it because they don’t need it anymore since it doesn’t get that cold. It was probably mid 80’s today, felt kind of hot…and it’s December!
