My latest is Wedgwood Butterfly Bloom. Saw it on Nicholas Fairford's RU-vid channel. He's got a lovely, relaxing channel. I have a small collection and I don't usually drink tea, but they're all so pretty. I'd love a cabinet just for them since mine are scattered all over the curio and dining room. Enjoyed this video.

You will probably start noticing barley twist furniture now when you shop at antique stores. I just love it! If you watch period dramas, you will see it on the set. Yes, can't get enough teacups.
@janicebrowningaquino792

I have watched period dramas ALL my life beginning with old movies we watched on tv as I was growing up. In my twenties I discovered a gold mine of period dramas when I stumbled on Upstairs Downstairs on PBS while I was living in FL. Initially I was just as fascinated by the movie sets (furniture, period decor) and locations as I was with any plot. Eventually it was part of why I chose to make New England my home. I fell in love with the rocky coastline of Maine watching a Betty Davis movie one year. I have lived in many locations in both NH and Maine, making New England home the majority of my life. It is the closest I have managed to reach my ultimate goal-Britain.

These are lovely. Thank you for sharing some of your collection with us. I have a large collection, too. I notice you have a Royal Crown Derby "Vine" cup & saucer on your top shelf. I have a couple of pieces of that. RCD also used the Vine pattern to combine with their "Posies" china pattern. I'm not sure if that resulted in entire dinner sets of the combined pattern, or just occasional pieces. You're right about finding great finds at thrift shops. One time, at an auction, I bought six Wedgwood Ulander Powder Ruby cups. Sadly, he had no saucers to go with them, but I liked the cups so I bought them on their own. Years later, when I was browsing at Goodwill, looking for cookbooks, I found six Aynsley saucers in the very same shade as the Wedgwood colour. Each saucer has a different flower in the centre, and the gold trim is different for each one. They are not done in the "powdered" (speckled) finish, but their colour matches perfectly, and since it's an unusual red, that's all that mattered. I will be sure to check some of your other videos. Thanks again!

You had me at Ulander Ruby. ❤️ Love this Wedgwood pattern and admired it during my Waterford-Wedgwood career start. Great eye to find the cups and coordinating saucers. 🙌🏻

@@LadyMaryBeth Thank you. I also have a few pieces of the Ulander Powder Turquoise pattern. What I really like is that the inside (underside) of the cup handles are lined with gold. Yes, I was happy to have found the Aynsley saucers that match the Ruby shade perfectly. One never know what will be found at Goodwill. I once found a Staub 5-quart cocette in the pumpkin shape for only $15. Brand new, and it still had the original stickers and emblems on it. At the high-end shops, they are over $400.

Is there a difference between a tea cup and a coffee cup in fine china?
@LadyMaryBeth
@LadyMaryBeth 4 года назад
Laura Gunn, Tea cups feature a wide-open rim at the top and a tapered-down base while coffee cups are usually straight-up and narrower. Most Chinaware manufacturers today offer only one shape and style cup. It’s important to look and hold all pieces when selecting a pattern.

This is a beautiful collection! But what I don't understand is why there aren't close-ups of each cup I'm not the whole way through the 5-minute work. Many people watch this on their phone and so we're not watching it on a big screen TV therefore we need close-ups. You could do this by holding your camera in your hand and focusing on each teacup. What people don't realize this they don't need to be on the screen just show their beautiful items. So maybe you could do this again put your tea cups on your dining room table hold the camera and do close-ups as you talk about them thank you for sharing

@@LadyMaryBeth I'm so glad you didn't take that as criticism because it wasn't I'm just very interested in seeing them all up close and maybe include the marking on the bottom! I just bought a Japanese lusterware tea set and I love drinking my tea in the beautiful teacup and making my tea in the beautiful teapot. I always put hot water in both the tea cup and teapot to warm them up as I make the tea... That way I don't worry about the heat causing a crack to form... Plus I think the tea stays warmer longer!
