Randy, Very helpful tutorial. I grew up with this reel in the midwest but after moving to Florida I had to move up to a bigger spinning reel with a better drag system. Have a nice weekend! Tad

Most likely much better fishing in Florida. Personally, I have never lived outside of Texas. I had that reel just stuck in drawer and decided to check it out and make it a video. Thanks for the compliment on the video and glad you watched it. Have good weekend also!

I grew up with the green and khaki 404 50 years ago and have one coming in from ebay. It's similar to this one, isn't it?

Could you explain how the anti-reverse system works? I have same reel and can't get it to work.

The anti reverse system keeps the handle from turning the opposite direction or backwards while the reel is engaged. Check the position of the over ride lever. The lever is located on the right side between handle and reel stand. If I remember correctly, that system is not removable on that reel.
