Thank you guys for help finding the Mondeo! We rented it back in 2003 from an airport in London. I raced it in the Cannonball Run Europe with Dado through England, France, Spain, and Africa. Broke the car in France where it was seized by the police. 15yrs later, you guys help me find and buy the car off the UK eBay. 15 months later, I reunite with the car in Canada. Amazing! I also talk about the craziness of the weekends surrounding h2o International, “the most ticketed car event in the US”. Yea I know, h2oi is no longer in OCMD. I make that clear in the video if you haven’t watched it yet. I grew up around VWs and my father is currently restoring a 1974 Ghia. We attended our first h2oi in 2009 and always had a great time. I think you need to do a mini revival of the car and restore it a little bit with a new motor and when it becomes 25yrs old bring it into the states and daily it for while.
As a Brit, seeing a MK3 Mondeo in Canda/ the USA is very weird. Also the 1.8's like to kill piston rings so thats probably where the oil issues come from

One of the original plans was to take it to Ed's house after h2oi. Finding the correct clutch set us back 3 months and we ran out of time. Maybe next year if it survives the winter.
JoshJLMG Productions Yeah, the 3 owners were the rental agency, the 2nd buyer owned it 2005-2007, then the 3rd owner owned it until 2018. The guy I bought it from would've been the 4th but he didn't change the V5 over to his name as he was a trader and neither did I, so it's technically a 5 owner car but 3 on paper. It ran and drove great before it went on the boat. I daily drove it a little bit
WhateverNevermind Yeah, they bought it brand new through Polar Ford, then after they repaired it they put it back into fleet usage, then sold it at auction in 2005 on around 30k miles.
I had a 2002 Mondeo 2 litre petrol. That thing was so much fun to drive. That short shifting slick manual, excellent steering feedback, rev happy responsive engine, sporty bucket seats. It was definitely a sports sedan. Modern cars in that category sucks nowadays.
I never thought in a million years I would hear Ford Mondeo and Vinwiki together. And I wonder what would happen if Dustin took the Mondeo to a Canadian Ford dealership for maintenance?
Cheaper to get local mechanics to work on it. It took us a long time just to buy the correct clutch off UK eBay. I do wonder what their reaction would be. I'll try swing by a Ford dealer on my next trip to see it.
@@mischieftelevision Canadian dealers usually don't want to work on RHD imports here. My local Toyota dealer wouldn't touch my 94 Supra TT. Worth a shot though!
as an american who moved into Quebec i gotta say the Customs are brutal at the border especially by me in Vermont. I still get questioned whether flying or driving across even with a residency permit and a work permit. True ball breakers, although learning french has taken some of the sting out of it lol. Great car people up here in Levis/Vieux Quebec/Quebec City too
I was on a road trip with my cousin going from Texas up the east coast and into Canada. We crossed in Vermont and the border guys had these puzzled looks on their faces when they learned we were from Texas and were on this road trip. We kept getting the same questions over and over, then they finally asked us to pull over so they could search the car. After another round of the same questions and after about 5 mins of searching they finally realized we were just a couple of tourist. So yeah I got to experience that. Plus I imagine they don't see many people crossing there that are from Texas in WRX STi.
@@neildaniel8232 Damn you are right. I looked it up and they never had it as the reasonably priced car. I had heard Jeremy say the name so many times on the show that I remembered it as the reasonably priced car. Maybe Nelson Mandela took a spin in it but I guess no one else did, lol.

This is great! I remember this Mondeo?!!! This is so cool.. Get some doors in ebay... its a common thing de doors rust with these Euro Mondeo/Focusses.... but there are good doors for sure. It was a kit issue at the time. These a actually really reliable cars.
Canadian border is ROUGH, had a guy who was well off (Tesla Model X was his daily) and he was coming from Ontario Canada to Cleveland, OH to pick up a Samsung Galaxy Fold. He pre-paid me on PayPal, we had ALL the proof in the world. They didn't care, told him to kick rocks and go home. lol.
As a owner of a 2007 mk3 mondeo these makes me smile only difference is it’s a 2L not the 1.8L Mondeos are awesome cars mine done 380,000km and still going strong
UK plates. Generally the original plate stays with the car, BUT you can transfer a personalised plate onto a car. They are existing numbers advertised for sale in the back of car magazines, or you may own it already. The licencing authority charge a transfer fee, but it's not too heavy.
GoofyLeo3 Haha, problem is I need to sell my actual car and put all of my savings to buy one. And here where I live they go for ~$5,000 in good shape. ST parts are impossible to get and, if you do, VERY expensive (eg: DMF). If I were in the UK, probably I would already own one...
*correction*. In the UK you can buy fancy personalized licence (registration in UK) plates so in theory if available you could buy V1NWK to replace the 03
the 03 mondeo was pretty much a ford focus i imported the headlights from one for a focus i had back in the day (they looked nicer then the focus ones lol)
Mondeos are dirt cheap here in the UK, although the British weather tends to rust the wheel arches out on older Fords so a lot of them got banger raced or ended up at the scrap yards. Weird to see a right hand drive one over the pond!
Cool story! It has typical Duratec piston rings issue. The same engine was used in 2004 US Ford Focus, and in Mazdas 3 and 5. So if you would like to rebuild it, you would probably be able to source parts locally in the US.

I believe the Mondeo had exactly the same 1.8 and 2.0 (maybe even 3.0?) engines with the Mazda 6. The Mazda was available in the US and Canada, thus you should be able to find an engine to replace it.
should try and see if you can swap a newer turbo motor in it. this cars kinda a legend at this point your already 6g in to a 300$ car mind as well make it a legend and display it as part of MISCHIEF history. that and i think seeing this 2 stepping and doing smokey burnouts would be some fun

If the engine lets up just get the v6 lump from the st220, can pick up a decent motor for about £450, plenty of parts for the cars about, just a pain for you to import them
