@@BerchCerp lol, bumb fights! Rufus the stunt bum got cleaned up and wrote a book. But I'll always remember him boogie boarding down rocky hills and yelling: Bum fight crew, get your duck sucked!
It's always an interesting concept to me when entities like Gumball, who organize events inherently designed to break the law, wind up suing other people in court. It's even more interesting to me when they actually win
Just greed really, they saw the film and obviously it was in the contract to not film and redistribute but even after realising they weren't apart of the event officially and nothing signed they still tried to sue. Fucking rich people lol.
They didn't win. There was a settlement. They just wanted to hurt Mischief for clowning on them. They spent far more than the ~200k mischief spent on the lawsuits. They lost money.
Strange, now the Gumball 3000 practically encourages their participants to film everything. No shortage of videos on the Gumball 3000 these days! Techademics still has some of the hardest content out there. Mischief Invasion is my favorite.
It was so cool to get to spend some time with Dustin and here these stories. When these came out we had very little automotive entertainment. Mischief was the stuff of legend!
This has to be my favorite vinwiki story thus far. I remember watching the mischief movies when they first came out. Amazing stuff and well done Dustin and Dado!
Kinda ironic that Gumball's organizers played the hand "you have violated the law and we will sue with the help of our gov and lawyers", while these amazing guys outgumballed them in the true renegade fashion.
YEEEESSSSSS!!! My wish was answered!!! A few months back I made a comment about how awesome it would be to have Dustin or Dado on VinWiki!!! Thank you THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
This was Genesis of car enthusiasm for me. So cool to see Dustin on here. I had no idea they got away with this without paying the entry. Given the rest of their antics, I should have expected no less.
Prolly wpulda saved them alot of money to just pay the 20g entry fee. Hahaha. Maybe have a homoe film from the ojtsode amd blur out some trademark shot.
We probably watched Mischief 3000 more than 40 times when I was in high school. I still have the original dvd as well as the box set I picked up later on, great stuff.
I used to love these dvds I had them all in high school...I mean the yellow m3 doing donuts outside the capital building is what America is all about. Great story! Do more with Dustin...I'm sure hes got a million stories!
What shocks me the most is the amount of money Gumball made throughout the event yet they still felt the need to try an take out the little people. Smh
Because that's how you make revenue as a wealthy person - abuse the fact that you have more power. Got to feel that on my own skin when I was working in the luxury yacht industry and our clients left unhappy when we delivered perfect quality product
I have an OG copy that still works and I thank you for the many great years of content. Dado's M3 is the most iconic thing about the Gumball. They should have paid you.
@@mrvk699 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7bwmtj2yeh8.html No need, he made the full version of Mischief 3000 available on youtube just a week or two after your comment ;)
Mischief 3000 was so legendary, so awesome that we got to know some extra backstory from it, especially since it was a catalyst in my love for exotics!
Still remember the Mischief crew back in the day, they were one of the main reasons I got into the car scene right out of high school. Dustin and Dado have always been super cool dudes to talk to have stories for days. Awesome to hear the full story.
Dustin, Dado & the whole Teckademics Mischief series set the bar high. These guys were doing this 15+ years ago, paved the way for many a autovlogger now.
Just checked because I remembered mine having the Gumball logo and I was right. It’s one of my favorite movies and I have one of the originals... YAY! I posted it on Instagram and tagged @Vinwiki. ;)
@@tmanepic what a genius - a youtube movie of braking laws left and right and showing your licence plates 🤦♂️............. imo just an idiot and reckless jerk, dude, beat up your F50 on tracks and rallies (how about Pikes Peak?) then you are my hero
Great story. I always thought it was strange that he seemed so surprised when Dado told him what number they were. Now I know why. I have the original cover, too.
You guys are awesome! One of the best pulled off, just go with the flow and see how far you get, stories I’ve heard. Gumball does actually owe you a lot of credit for their popularity!
Did you know the owner and driver of the red escort cosworth (that folowed the supra)from the 2nd getaway vid was danish racing driver Nicolas Kiesa and was driving for f1 team minardi a couple of years later in 2003.Here is a link to his old site and the cosworth in question www.kismo.dk/sider/ford.htm
This is the definition of a perfect car story cars where new no phones but still able to capture it I’m 20 the early 2000s are my favorite I’m gonna do a cannon ball at some point in a Mercedes if possible
Dude what?! This is insane. Dado is the reason for my obsession with M3's. This makes it so much cooler!!! I don't remember which version of the movie I watched, but now I NEED to see the original unedited version!!
Hell yeah Dustin was waiting to see this!! I grew up watching these and inspired me to get into the car scene and video/film. It was also a huge influence to my E36 M3 obsession. I've got my OG Copy as well ;)
That is awesome. I never saw a VHS version. @TheCarFanForever, it was released in the US starting in 2001. When we were starving for automotive content, this was amazing.
This is one of the craziest stories I’ve seen on VINWiki I love it!! Great work putting on the whole charade and tagging along with the gum ball rally!
OMFG All these years...i have all these videos all the old Teckademiks stuff (first one, Destroy, Dynasty Ect) from new and Loved the Gumball video, played it everyday in my store I never knew you guys just snuck in...Thats GREAT !!! This made my day!
Amazing story! I loved the Mischief 3000 since the first time i saw it back in 02 03, its so cool too get this (to me) unknown story behind it. I legit thought they were in it and havnt refelcted that their car didnt have a number on the side... 11/10 points for the story!
I actually bought the video the next day on Amazon. The pic on Amazon showed the Gumball logo on the hood on the front of the DVD case, but when the video came it was the Mischief logo. I love it! Great retro music and cars. The only thing I was disappointed in was that it didn't touch on the fact that you snuck in and weren't suppose to be there. Hopefully you have that footage somewhere and you can make a sequel.
I miss the days of great Gumball 3000 participants producing grass roots footage. Mischief 3000, Jackass in their Jag, Alex Roy in his Polizei E39 M5, Ant & Pete in their Diesel BMWs, Kim in his Brabus Mercs, Lonman in his GT2 or SL55, GT 3000. If I could time travel, I'd put myself on the starting line of the 2005 Gumball 300 Rally: Paris - Marrakesh - Cannes. Thanks for the walk down memory lane Ed and Dustin!
You guys truly made my childhood your dvds are the reason I got into cars, seen a ad for movies back when you still ordered over the phone. watching that Ford Explorer jump that intersection as a young guy blew my mind.
I still have this DVD and I used to play this at shows in my car back in the day. Man, I miss this series. It's what got me into watching the Gumball Rally.
I had that copy. I remember them selling their videos at Nopi Nationals in Atlanta 2006. Having watched that video so many times I had no idea the backstory. That makes it even more legendary.
In 2002 I was working at a Goodyear shop in North Las Vegas. One day, my boss gets a call that someone needs a 335 35 r17 Goodyear Fiorano F1 (Ferrari OE directional and asymmetrical tire) of which we happened to have in stock, right away. About a half hour later a red Viper pulls in and throws the giant meat in the trunk and speeds off. I was a very small part of the Gumball Rally that year.
Their m3 was very nice now and especially at the time. This is the sole reason they were able to get away with it imo. No way they’d let them in a bar looking car. That m3 is so damn clean
Dustin... One of the coolest stories ever.... Sucks you got sued in the end, but honestly it was probably worth the ride, the memory and a bad ass fucking story
Best episode of all time. I have that dvd!!! I've watched it a million times. You guys were legends! Still are. Smiling so big because of how incredible this story was! Hope u guys are well!
That was one of the greatest years for the Gumball, I saw them come through Philadelphia. Mr Bass’ RUF was brutal. Lonman brought a SL 55 into the US before they were released.
Really enjoyed this story! So much that I just went on Ebay, found an original DVD and ordered it. Can't wait to watch it! Also, nice hair. Reminds me of the old Slim Jim commercials.
I love Mischief & Teckadmics since Day 1. Have still all films and DVDs in my rack. These movie inspired me to go nuts with my Bmw M5 ^^ One of the best Situations was Gumball and the Ford Explorer vs. the H1 Hummer expedition :) Awesome storys from Dado & Dustin. Greets from Germany !
Yes! I had no idea they snuck into the rally. Makes the story even better! I still want a yellow E36 m3 to this day. The soundtrack to the movie was also legendary.
I remember watching this at a friends house back in the day when I first went to high school. Skipped class and watched mischief 3000 and the jackass gumball rally. Good times! This was only like ten years ago so I guess we watched the newer version.
I love waking up on a Sunday morning, randomly remembering something from 20+ years ago, and being able to instantly watch stuff about it. Still got my original version DVD.
Loved this story. I loved going to metro back in the day. And was at the race in your vid were norris whooped that turbo type r in his gsr. Great throw back
