Ah! Bless you, Michael! Thank you for giving a mention of the new album. Appreciate your kind words, including your inner cover secret message comment! (Laughed at that! Haha!) Cheers!
Just discovered your channel, and I must say its so great. I mean, You even presents The Third Ear Band, Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Snakefinger, Traffic, even Blodwyn Pig. Keep up the good work, very entertaining. Paal
Ahhhh I see you picked up the vinyl Dereck had shown(Surplus 1980)....good to see ya Michael...hmmm I really like JJ...and Myrrh looks interesting too! George Duke is a yeahhhhhhhhhh lol....😊wow!!! Ike too?? Nice pickups Michael 👏🏻🤘🏻👏🏻🤘🏻I purchased both the Can albums I dig em both....you be well also Michael 🎶🙏🏻✨✊🏻
Hi Lis, hope you are keeping safe and warm in the frozen midwest. We're having some occasional downpours here in CA, but mostly it's been a super mild winter so far. Thanks for watching!
Good to see you again, Michael! Had complely forgotten "Myrrh"... and will investigate Surplus 1980. Btw, Fred Frith (&co) will play a gig here in the deep-frozen north ,next week.(Looking forward to it.) Regards //Michael in Stockholm👋😀
Thanks, Dave! I’ve had my eye out for that George Duke for a long time. for some reason I would often come across the previous one, Feel, but this one not so much. I did find a copy in a bargain bin a couple of years ago, but it was too chewed up…
The first album was kind of mind blowing as you explained what type of music it is. Wow, sounded like a Frankenstein album, so many parts put together. I did know Quebec, Mahler and Can, after that I just enjoyed your pronunciations that always sound fantastic. Very funny with the no tag on the title. Thank you
hey michael.. brilliant..night of the living mahler... hope you are doing well my friend..another year to breathe and listen.. stay well..stay curious.. peace..rocky
Interesting pickups as always Michael. I'll give Surplus 1980 a listen, though I generally have struggled with SGM's music. Myrrh is one I need to find on vinyl - great album. Would love to find some Harry Partch - but not something I see in the wild. Only know Joe Galluvan from the album he did with Hopper, Dean and Tippett which was really good. The Can live series can get confusing because of the similarity in the covers. I take it you'll be getting the latest in the series Paris 1973? All the best for 2024 (and beyond) - can we expect a new album soon?
Hi Pete! Yes, looking forward to the next in the live Can series. I have new music in the can for a projected album, and ideas for another one. Having issues with a person I contracted with for cover art, and there's also the problem that no one has been buying my stuff, and I simply haven't got room for more inventory, so delays are expected... Thanks for watching, all the best!
Many interesting finds! I could not resist ordering Surplus 1980. There is a new Sleepy Time Gorilla album coming out in March as well. Just becoming familiar with them. Interesting Duke find. Love Uncle Remus. Have to look for this one. Can is dropping another live album soon, Live in Paris 1973. Take care, Richard
Hi Richard! I also have the new Sleepytime LP on preorder. I’ve been looking for a nice copy of the George Duke. I found a copy in a bargain bin a couple of years ago but it was a bit chewed up. Reading about the next Can live set is what got me looking for the Brighton album. I found that I didn’t have that one, but I did have the Cuxhaven on CD which I didn’t think I owned in physical format. Thanks for watching!
Can't wrong with any partch lp one of our greatest musical iconclasts ❤..i have that one as well..unfortunately alot of his own gate 5 releases are super rare. Also love the gallivan/austin lp..maybe the closest thing to coltrane goes electronic lp imo..due to his strong influence on Austin's playing. You familiar with there group project later in the 80's called Ailana..both of there lp's on hannibal are very interesting with wider and diverse personnel as well as musical influences..well worth it and cheap..😀..much love chris
That JJ and Kai was a nice find. I did not know that it was pressed on Columbia. For some reason I thought that it was a Blue Note. You can clearly see that I am still a little green in the jazz department. That Eddie Roach is a newly released BN classic series pressing? Also. Did you say that there were no horns on that one Michael? Always enjoyable from start to finish~ Rob/Boston
Hi Rob! The Blue Note LP is actually by Ike Quebec with Freddie Roach in the band, so Ike's tenor is the only horn. Yes, it's a Blue Note Classic pressing from 2023. Thanks for watching!
