How to install vinyl plank flooring. Vinyl plank installation in a office where we installed 1250 sf of flooring. This is not your typical vinyl flooring, like Lifeproof or Nucore, that float and aren't attached to the structure. This is the other vinyl floor installation that we don't talk about enough is vinyl plank installation with glue. With a lower cost in material and a rock solid feel when you walk on it, this type of installation offers many different benefits.

How important is it for the floor to be level. Everyone keeps talking about how important it is but the way I see it, the planks are so thin and flexible won't they conform to the shape of the floor?

@@shevinsacrey5862 thinner vinyl planking will follow the floor but it's more about the finished look and the manufacturer aswell as the country it's being installed in will have a specific standard it's to be installed to for warranty purposes.

Hi, I'm a tile contractor in California and I just installed 1400 sq ft of Mannington 18 x 36 LVT Glue down. I have a few problems with lippage with some of the seams between the tiles. The floor was rolled with a 100 pd roller throughout the installation process but I still have a few areas with this problem. Do you have any ideas on how i can make these seams flush? Thanks, Todd

Hello Mr. Jones, We had pressure sensitive glue down vinyl tile put in our home. The tile looks nice, its durable and we like it. It was down for about 4 years without a problem. Unfortunately some of the tiles came up. We had the contractor come and fix the problem. Now it has been about 6 months and some of the same tiles are coming up again. Needless to say I'm irritated. The contractor did not clean the old glue off the subfloor before regluing the tile. Would that keep the tile from sticking to the floor? What may have originally caused the tile to come up? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

I’ll be putting down 25 yr warranty 2mm LVP planks over the concrete slab in my home. It’s approximately 1,300 sqft. Is there anything that can be placed between the concrete and planks to insulate and soften the feel on our feet. Also, what glue would be the best for application?

I'm putting some surplus pieces of vinyl plank flooring on a large outdoor countertop under a patio, and I want to glue it to the plywood base of the counter. Could you recommend a glue to use that's available in small amounts? Will any common construction glue work? ie. Liquid Nails, Contact Cement, or ??? Also the vinyl planks have a thin dense foam backing, should I scrape that off before gluing or just glue as they are? Thanks!

Thank you for your video! Curious about the sub-flooring...we had someone come out to measure and give an estimate for 1200sq ft of glue-down vinyl and were told that another 1/4" plywood sub-floor layer was needed on top of the existing plywood flooring. He said it was required to do this for glue-downs. There are no sub-flooring issues that we're aware of so its not clear why another layer of sub-flooring would be needed (not to mention, the additional expense). What's on the floor right now is carpet and padding, with a couple areas of sheet vinyl. Is there a good reason to add a second layer of sub-flooring, or was he padding the cost of the job? Thanks for your time.

I have this type of vinyl plank flooring using the glue method. I was told the glue was what is called pressure sensitive. I replaced a couple pieces after many years all that was needed was a razor knife to seperate the piece I wanted to remove and it just pulled right up. Also didn't have to add new glue as original glue was still tacky.

Hi jones! I have a question for you. My wife and I Are building a small loft apartment in our metal barn while we wait for our house to be built. The subfloor is 5/8" chipboard or OSB. There are a couple high spots from the joists under the floor. I would rather not deal with a floor leveling product since its only a temporary setting for us but my wife doesn;t want to walk on the OSB and potentially getting splinters. I've been thinking about gluing down vinyl flooring. Is this an option with a couple high spots? Will the flooring flex enough and bond to the floor without needing a leveling product? I appreciate the thoughts.
@JonesKnows
@JonesKnows Год назад
Its not an ideal situation, but if the high spots a gradually sloped then you should be fine. You can also put a second layer of ply over the 5/8 and plane or sand out the high spots. I'd afraid of sanding 5/8 because its kind of thin. GOOD LUCK!

@rapodejko
@rapodejko 3 года назад
Just glue a path about the doors with. Don't do while floor yet. And to start I'll cut 3 or 4 board so I have like 1/3,2/3 and a full or 1/4,1/2,3/4 and a full. Just put cut edge on the wall or doorway so you'll have factory edges touching next boards. Then when you get to end of room. You cut last piece to fit and the piece you cut off is now you next starter. That way you have minimal waste. Just keep seams at least 4 inches apart from each other.

@JonesKnows
@JonesKnows 4 года назад
Yes the glue will stick to the wax but may not penetrate to the floor underneath. So you have to get the wax off by sanding or stripping. You can use a chemical stripper or try to sand it off but it’s gotta come off before installing the new floor.

Can I glue this product over top of a sheet linoleum that has a tile pattern to it? Will the glue adhere to the sheet linoleum and will the old tile pattern read through the new flooring?
@JonesKnows
@JonesKnows 4 года назад
These glues stick to almost anything so that's not a problem. You have to make sure that the sheet linoleum is completely glued down. Some sheet products are only perimeter glued, so the middle of the floor is not attached and this won't work. So you have to determine how the old floor is installed . Cut a small square out in the middle of a room and see how comes up, see if there is any glue under it. If it has a distinctive grout joint, meaning you can feel the grout joint, then it will probably telegraph through any vinyl floor that doesn't have a rigid core or that isn't at least 5mill thick. If it were me I would probably remove the linoleum or go with a thicker floating type of vinyl like Lifeproof or Nucore. These products can go right over anything and grout lines won't telegraphy through. Let me know if you have any more questions. I hope this helps. Tim
