thumbs up for being the _only_ person who reviewed this thing that actually _told us what the adapter was_ so we could order it at the same time. seems obvious but nobody else seems to have thought of it, so thanks for that!
Great info definitely helpful. As my little ones grew so did my Intex salt Walter converted pools. Now a bit bigger I’m doing a 20’x48” I always say the bigger the pump the better and I will be adding a in wall skimmer this round. I’ll check out you Amazon link and get the parts needed as described in video 👍🏼
I like the idea of the Hayward but what I don’t like about it which is minuscule is that it appears as if you sacrifice some of the pool water height. Of course while swimming aggressively that some of that water will eventually even out if the Hayward was installed to some degree. But I’m all for the Hayward cause it works deeper and has a greater pull of water.
Hi I can’t find your video “my pool setup”. To see how you connected the Hayward skimmer To the pump and using the B suction ports! Great videos and info thanks very much
I just bought the Hayward SP1091LX Dyna-Skim Above-Ground Pool Skimmer for my 31'x16'x52" above ground pool. The pool came with a very nice pump and sand filter that I run through two solar heaters prior to returning water to the pool. After all of that I don't find the return to be very aggressive and I worry that eliminating an intake (to increase skimmer suction) as well as pushing more contaminants through my sand filter may be counterproductive. My question is...Is it a good idea to use a second pump with it's own return (comes with new skimmer) and create a stand alone skimmer system with pump and filter. I actually have a 1500 gph flowclear cartridge filter pump sitting unused. Thanks for any advice
Pond diver; i have a Coleman 22x52; and thinking about the through wall skimmer... is regular size or the wide-mouth skimmer a better choice, since you had both? love your informative videos' and reviews. Cheers
This may be a silly question. I have older large soft sided intex pool. The wall skimmer broke and it's pricey to replace. I'm not sure how much more "life" my pool will have...it's at least 8 years old. Question: can I keep the water level lower (it's a 52" depth) than hole for skimmer and try a surface mount skimmer?
You can’t leave the Hayward up all year? I’m not removing it, that thing was a pain in the ass to put up and doing it twice a year sounds atrocious lol
How’s did it seal up the following year any problems? I’ll be taking mine down each year just hate to cut liner and have it stretch and leak the following year. But I do like the inwall design
We are filling the water up from winter, but last year fad problems with debris, and cleaning pool. Can we do the in wall skimmer comfortable effectively while up, we would have to dumb some water out, but wondering which way we should go since seeing this video after filling it up. Also looking for hearing source for this pool, thinking solar, we live in NW PA and needless to say our summers are not hot like the south
Good questions. Heating video is next week. As far as the skimmer, you must have some water in for it to be tight. You'll loose water. But the vinyl needs to be tight.
What do you think about sand and saltwater system pumps? I have the same pool and this pump is on sale on amazon. Intex 26679EG Krystal Clear 2150 GPH Pump & Saltwater Sand Filter Saltwater System
Hello I have a Coleman above ground pool and I'm wondering how you connected all those pumps together. I also have a top water skimmer that don't suck enough. What do you commend?
you need a professional oum & filter, the ones that come with these pools are toys. I bought a Black Diamond model PRC180DB w/ a Blue torrent 11/2 hp pump, works amazing... 👍🏼
So I bought the 16" sand pump because of your suggestion and I have the exact same pool . Should I keep the filter it came with to solely use it with the floating skimmer? I don't feel to confident about making the permanent skimmer
@@luigimartinez1748 you need a way to discharge the second pump. In the beginning I was using a waterfall, but I ended up installing a secondary discharge. This video will come out this week, but if you do want to fo that, a waterfall is a good choice.
@@luigimartinez1748 I used the pump that came with my pool to make s PVC sprinkler for my daughter. Turned out pretty good. Used a T joint to make a secondary connection on the PVC to connect a water hose for a DIY solar heater
I got the intex slimmer and it seems to work well. My question is I have two intakes from the pool to filter that meet at the T. I used the skimmer on one and then I used a cap that had a small hole in it then the guard style piece over it for the other intake. The skimmer seems to be pulling. Can I just cap off completely that second intake and only have the skimmer pulling? Or will that make the pool filter work too hard? I have the 1500 gallon cartridge filter on a 12 foot 30 inch deep prism intex. Thanks!
I'm not a big paper cartridge fan, but anytime you starve a pump for water, you're stressing it out. Make sure that the pump doesn't get hot or start humming.
@@Pondiver Understood that. But, I need the adapters to install the skimmer. As I mentioned I have 1.5 inch hoses and plumbers and the skimmer comes with what looks like a reducer.
@@emegge that's not a reducer per say. That part is for a vacuum to waste connection. You'll need to convert it for an intex pump. You won't be able to without the adapter.
@@Pondiver I've not started yet, my pump won't be here till around the 22nd of this month. The best I can tell, I'm planning on starting with 125 lbs and check levels from there. If you get different numbers from that, please let me know. I'm a novice here. By the way, your reviews have led me to purchase: vacuum, waterfall ,skimmer, and pool light. Thanks for your advice!!!!
@@JasonSmith-fr3gz I got 140 lbs for a 18 x 48, but there's not much difference in our numbers. Right now, I do not have any indication on my pump (which let's you know) if you have high or low salt. 40 lb bag at 4 bags is 140 lbs. We'll see I the next couple of days, but so far so good. Let me know any developments you have as to like to use this a collaborative platform. I appreciate the notes. It helps my knowledge base so I'm not spitting out options. Okay so I have the pool up and water high enough to pump. I am looking at installing the in wall skimmer. How do you hook the hoses up? Do I need to buy a splitter to connect two of the inch and half hoses to the pump? Confused on how to get skimmer connected to pump since the b port hoses are 1 inch not inch and a half.
