You should try some Opeth though. Maybe you don't like the growls, but it is not your typical metal band, their musicianship is unique in so many aspects (in my opinion), despite their early albums being totally extreme. Recommend beginning with Watershed and Ghost Reveries, because these ones are more balanced between growls, extreme metal, and clean folkish prog, and if you enjoy that, than check out their other early albums, Deliverance, Damnation, Blackwater Park, Still Life, and My Arms, Your Hearse It's more 'extreme prog' than prog rock per se, but is still prog nonetheless
I think you would like Jane’s Addiction. They were part of the L.A. alternative rock scene of the late ‘80s-early ‘90s, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (I noticed John Frusciante in your collection). “Nothing’s Shocking” and “Ritual de lo Habitual” are terrific albums (the second side of “Ritual” is very proggy to me)
Great Channel. Excellent taste in music for one so young. Bowie, Dylan, Harrison, Lennon, Beatles, Slaughter & The Dogs, Laffin’ Len et al for me! Peace, Health & Happiness to you!
Nice. I remember buying the first two Maiden singles. Nice to see you have Kiss too, but not Rock n Roll Over. My fave Jethro Tull album is missing too. A Passion Play. I have the original LP, the remixed CD and the Deluxe Box which also contains the tracks that were abandoned between Thick as a Brick and APP. Amazing that Ian Anderson salvaged and wrote new material for APP in just three weeks.
Coming in strong with the two crimson boxes! When they were first announced, I didn’t really think too much of it since I had the original albums but the completist in me screamed that I needed them. YESSSSSS KISS!!! Awesome follow up, these collection vids are always fun to watch!
May I recommend Opeth, if you don't like death metal growls - their album Heritage and subsequent albums don't have any growls. Sorceress is fab prog rock album if you want somewhere to start.
Great album collection! I noticed that you do not have KISS' only prog album that they made. It is called "Music from the Elder" (1981). Check it out, has some outstanding songs on there and is totally different from any of their other albums.
I love your vinyl collection Wow IRON MAIDEN Love your passion for prog YES RUSH GENESIS ELP KING CRIMSON My favorites Keep on spinning Love your videos

When I think of Judas Priest, I think of an episode from That 70s Show. Question for Larks Tongue in Aspic, should I try to find an OG or get a reissue? I’ve been wanting the album but I don’t know what to look for. Nice Kiss and Zeppelin albums! Great video!
Thank you! Personally, I don’t mind getting reissues if they end up cheaper because I don’t like spending too much money on albums (I do it anyway unfortunately) but whatever suits your collection works!
@@the_prog_nerd Max Webster was a fun, proggy Canadian band. Only put out 6 records from 1975-1980. All very, very good. Friends with Rush, Co-author of Rush's Tom Sawyer, Pye DuBois, was their lyricist. Rush appeared on their final album in a two band recording of a song called Battle Scar.
Im a big fan of concept albums. One of the bands I am rediscovering is Blue Oyster Cult. In 88 I bought IMAGINOS. for me its still awesome. Now in 2021 we have RE-IMAGINOS from Albert Bouchard (original drummer) there's a whole history of the making of tis album. Check it out. Anyway I have bought most of their catalogue and i bet you may dig em. Cheers.
Don't know if you have listened to it or not but Iron Maiden in Rio Live, is pretty good. Love The Moody Blues in this house as well. Awesome collection so far.
Niamh, I have two questions. I noticed that you did not show anything by Big Big Train in your first collection video. Do you know of them? After Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson they are probably the biggest contemporary prog bands in the UK. Well worth looking into if you don't know them...so my question was to your Dad tomorrow. Does he know of/like Big Big Train? Next question. Are you interested in receiving VCLT? I'm looking forward to seeing part three of the collection videos. Cheers
I haven’t heard of them, but I’ll be sure to check them out! And about the VCLT, it’s such a cool thing but as of right now I’m out of a job and haven’t got a lot of money to spend on albums (I bought a load recently!) but when I’m back to work when covid settles down again, I’d love to participate!
I wholeheartedly recommend Louise Patricia Crane's album Deep Blue if you are looking for another prog artist beginning with L. It features Jakko Jakszyk (King Crimson) and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)!
Also I recommend you the Dio era Sabbath albums, Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules, they are amazing in their own right. In case you want to check some prog I haven't seen in your collection, try The Weirding by Astra and Until All The Ghosts Are Gone by Anekdoten. Regards from the Netherlands.
May i recommend an album called Journey by Kingdom Come, with the amazing God of Hellfire Arthur Brown on lyrics and drum machine. The first track is mind blowing. A fantastic sound and please ask your dad if he know's it. X
You really need to have Sad Wings of Destiny by Judas Priest...Sin After Sin as well... P.S i hope some day i will be blessed with a daughter like u...your father should be immensely proud...x
Wow! So many amazing albums! Beautiful collection! One question, when you plan to get an album, do you try to get a true analog copy or that doesn’t matter? My dad wants me to get certain King Crimson albums for him, but he only wants true analog copies. It seems the recent releases of King Crimson albums seem to be from digital files, even ones that Robert Fripp worked on for re-release. It’s difficult to find a good copy of classic King Crimson albums from back in the day without paying a ton.
I bought an L.P" King Crimson In the Court....." Was disappointed at the clicks and crackles. Thought it was my needle turntable at fault. Then I saw another copy, this time produced by Steve Wilson and Robert Fripp ,it also had another disc of alternate mixes. The difference was amazing, sounded so clean and if you know "Court of the Crimson King", it does have quieter passages which sounded better to me. did cost me £35 which I was hesitant about.I think the better quality was worth it. I looked at the information on my reissue and it doesn't say whether it's from Analogue or not. KCLPX2019 is the catalogue number.
stinkpooter : thanks. Yes, usually if they put out a re-master or reissue and it doesn’t say from the original analog tapes, it’s from a digital source. Music On Vinyl reissues awesome albums, but most are from high quality digital files. I’ve asked them by email. I guess for some albums you just have to not focus on a true AAA pressing. I got my Dad a 200 gram copy of The Moody Blues “Days of Future Past”. It was a digital source, but after so many noisy old albums I didn’t have a choice. He loved it, it was super quiet. I didn’t say anything about it being from a digital source. I want to get the 45rpm analog pressings from the Doors, I heard they are unbelievable, but they are $55 an album....
Now that I think of it, you don't have any Budgie in your collection. These Welsh guys were Black Sabbath contemporaries (their first two albums were even produced by the same Sabbath producer), and they are criminally underrated in my opinion. If you are a Metallica fan, you surely know two Budgie songs covered by Metallica: "Breadfan" (Budgie's signature song) and "Crash Course In Brain Surgery". Their third album, "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend", from 1973, is their magnum opus in my opinion. You definitely have an awesome record collection.
Iv gone away from mainstream rock, recently picked up tube way army's first album not a completist like budgie the pixies a great album from rex is steel alloy and the hidden wheels of tommorow. So I collect pyche, punk and kraut rock like some of your albums.
