My name is Niamh, I'm 22 and I love music...nuff said! I also love to collect records and will probably show them off in future. I run my own record business called MooBoo Records and we are active on discogs! If you are interested in future uploads or learning more about me and what I get up to, follow me on Instagram @the_prog_nerd
On "Perfect Sense (part 1)", Waters wanted to add the voice of HAL9000 from "2001: A Space Odyssey" but the Kubrick estated denied him the right to do so. He eventually did it on the 2011 remaster.
Four great albuns from 1973 not mentioned: “A Passion play”, by Jethro Tull; “Ashes are burning”, by Renaissance; “The dark side of the moon”, by Pink Floyd; “Le cimetière des arléquins”, by Ange (French prog rock band).
It's not so much that I have a lot of issues with modern prog bands like Dream Theater, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings etc. (I love most of Porcupine Tree's work) but it's that so many people in the prog community prioritize those bands over arguably much more progressive bands like Mastodon, Neurosis, The Mars Volta, Stereolab, GY!BE, Radiohead and (until recently because they have been getting a lot more attention) King Gizzard. There is also this crazy jazz fusion revival which has been taking off in the last few years, so there's a prog side to that as well. Luckily though I think channels like this one, Notes Reviews and The Prog Corner have been getting at a lot of those bands more than others do. Great video and insights on the topic Niamh! 👍
Big difference, your topic caught my eye. I’ve always loved you when you started, but I don’t know your name and I just was arttracted by the title thank you you are very cute
Peter wasn't in attendance unfortunately, his friend Bernie Marsden was with him that day and tried to talk him into going but I think he felt uncomfortable about the idea.
Interesting about originality Rick Beato says the same and he puts it down to using digital audio workstations where a lot of the samples are the same and the loops produces using a template that has the same beats the same stretches the same et cetera et cetera. This didn’t happen when music was analog, because everybody had to record every one of their parts, but when digital came along the drama would turn up and just hit each drum maybe a couple of loops and then loaded into a daw. Red hair nice Not
I'm just glad you heard Ommadawn and loved it!! And I'm grateful to your dad for recommending Good Ole Boys by Randy Newman, one of the best albums I'd never heard! Good luck with the future, have a blast with your band and take this thought with you, there's no way everybody was Kung Fu Fighting!!! All the best for the future !!!
Really enjoyed all of your content and sharing you and your Dad's love of music. You're young and you're finding your way in life, do whatever the fuck feels right to you and please have no regrets. You already did this and it was great, go do other cool stuff.
Have a good break from YouTubing, Niamh. I do hope you decide to come back someday, but you do whatever you feel is right. Thank you for your contributions to the prog community and for showing everyone that prog isn't just for nerdy guys. 🙂

your life is more important. thanks for your time whatever you made is great. congratulations on your band. i listen different music too. wish you well.
Good choice for 1974: Red and the lamb are real masterpieces. Do you know anything about Italian prog rock of the seventies.? We had great band like Banco del Mutuo Soccorso and PFM!
Love your channel. Thing is, all the stuff you've done will be there as a body of work we can all dip into whenever we want. You're like a great band that's split up and left its legacy, or a book that's been written that's still out there. Yours is a really good legacy! Time to move on, no one can blame you for having a life!
Not a big fan of prog metal but I love symphonic metal, I see them as two completely different genres. Also, nice to hear that you like Spiritbox. Fun fact- I know their drummer, Zev Rose, personally. I grew up with him, I knew him from School of Rock, and played in bands with him during high school. Amazing drummer
I really enjoyed your channel especially the videos of you and your dad he’s around my age. I totally understand not wanting to to do it anymore. I couldn’t do a channel I get bored easily plus there’s other things to do in life. Take care of yourself and good luck with your band and create.
