Hi Armien, Im glad your still with us I was worried we have all missed your videos and your smiling face on a regular basis hope to see you soon bye bye.
Armien what a great video. You always put much thought into what you put in your video's. I have never been disappointed in one of them. I won't pretend to ask you too adjust your style to fit my likes. And I will never change my video's to suit others wants. I liked most was your take on Animals. To put that before DSOTM was brilliant. I too like other than DSOTM. My favorite is "Wish You Were Here". Your Friend Steve
Hi Armien. Nice to see a new video from you. Digging those Pink Floyd records. I only have animals on CD but it sounds great. Meddle is my favorite Floyd album too.
The Nektar album you showed was a great listen thoroughly enjoyed it. Even better, it has put me onto some other 70s prog rock bands so thanks for that!
Armien, hope everything is well long time no see! Figured by now you would have another prog episode for us. Keep us informed I miss your video updates. Thanks, Kurt
hello armien a nice selection of psych progressive rock lps. I am not that much into prog. rock but your selections were interesting and fun to see! frank zappa had a lot of weird lps but is considered a classic artist in the psych. rock etc. from 60s and 70s. nice video! rob
Great video Armien. I've got to improve my knowledge on psych rock. This is helpful like Alain Lefebvre videos are ( in french). Thanks a lot. Always clear and direct informations ! Bye.
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your videos. They're my favorite from here, in the RU-vid vinyl community. I always look forward to the next, wish you made them more often. Anyways, cheers, all the best.
Another great video. Thank you for sharing. If you haven't already done so, check out Zappa's Roxy and Elsewhere LP. I would love to see another video on German hard rock bands and their offshoot such as Scorpions, UFO, the Schenker brothers etc...
Armien, If you don't already have it or haven't heard it, you should check out the Zappa record called "You Are What You Is." It's a very fun and cohesive listen, with great lyrical word-play. I haven't heard all of them, but this is my favorite Zappa album. Great vid!
Great Prog rock update I'm still on the hunt for McDonald & Giles pink rim or any overseas press I have a US which is lacking depth luv your Japanese and German copies you showed Armien man you have some killer records. those EMI 100 series are so good in have Peter Gabriel So which is awesome I have Dark Side Mofi I'm after a UK or prouse too. sorry to here about Animals I'm shocked to here UK sound better than the German press I have a UK which is VG I'm still looking for a better copy I has makes and plays quiet luv you channel luv you background too
Good stuff! Animals is my favorite Floyd LP. As a fan of prog/psyc and 90s rock I am glad I found your channel. Happy digging hope you find your NM Amimals.
Hi Armien Great video as always. :) Animals ist auch eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsalben von Pink Floyd. Noch vor WYWH, Meddle lund The Wall in meinen Augen. Ich habe eine US First Pressung. Und die klingt super, einwandfrei. Nur zu empfehlen. Interessant wäre auch noch die Pressung von Animals auf pinken Vinyl :) Schönes Wochenende Daniel
Sorry to hear of your difficulty with static on Animals. Well that's the story here as well Armien so I resorted to a used HQ cassette. It was playing static free like I had never heard better before but then it did what tapes often do and that's self-destruct. The search goes on. Cheers !
Zappa and Beef heart - very cool indeed Both great to listen to with the lights off - very difficult to get into but when you do it's a blast and definitely reward patience Can't have enough Floyd White Noise sounds fantastic - I'll look for that next weekend and cover is absolutely mint Nectar very wonderful (and weird) - always more prog than kraut rock but who cares, great pick up Focus - not massively into them but that cover is great Those Steamhammer discs look superb, must check out Neil Young 70's great indeed - always liked that but getting a mint copy quite difficult Animals - crackling does drive me mad too and very frustrating when copies come like that Always an awesome update and you pick up some totally cool stuff Have a psych-sonic weekend
Hey Armien Nice selection once again, i do love that Nektar album, and the ongoing saga of finding quiet pressings goes on for you in the shape of Pink Floyd Animals. I don't have that album, but i appreciate where you're coming from, nothing worse than quiet passages interrupted by crackling, the price we pay for listening to vinyl eh? I just acquired a copy of Dark side... really nice early UK pressing, and it sounds great, but would love to snag an EMI100 copy, along with the Iron Maiden and NOTB one too. Cheers Dean
Thank you so much for making me check out Nektar. Ordered Tab in the Ocean on Ebay for 8€...two days later I saw a double green vinyl (incl. 1976 US Mix on vinyl 2) at Saturn for somewhat more...had to get it. I think I might like the US Mix better...seems like there are more guitar solos on it...
Hi just stumbled across your channel. That White Noise sounds very cool indeed, I never heard of that one. You seem to be more prog than psych. I am more psych than prog.
For something new try Eno's = The Ship. You may just enjoy it. Very experimental. I'm new around the VC but appreciate the information on the records. Great information on some classics. Thank you for the video.
So that's where all the copies of Animals have gone off to :P I've been hunting down a copy for awhile but it never pops up at any reasonable price. I got super lucky several months ago and got a near mint original pressing of Meddle. Hard album to listen to sober....
Another awesome update video, thanks! You mentioned the notecards for your records. I was just wondering what you write on them? Is it just price you paid and date purchased? It's actually a great idea.
I'm also concerned. I hope Armien is just so busy buying records that he doesn't have time to make any videos. This can only be good for us - his viewing public - in the future. Cheers!
I find it hard to believe (like most of you probably) that he would be too busy for a quick update video or at least reply to comments on this video with an update, it's possible he is busy with school etc.. But it's been a pretty long time and he was very regular posting videos.. Is someone here friends with him on facebook?
Hello Friends, I just logged in my google account after some weeks of absence! Sorry that I didn't answer your messages before. I am alive and feeling great but I am really really busy with work and some other things. I will return to youtube asap. Thanks for all the kind words and concerns. This shows me that it's really time to come back to the video side and that there are still people liking to watch a new vinyl update. Thanks again! Armien
Hey Armien, watch your videos with great interest. I'm always so happy to realize, that vinyl addicts are coming together so easily, that almost no matter which genres you're collecting. But one thing I like to ask: Really no Elvis records among your vinyls ?! Come on, you got to get one at least :-) Try "Elvis on stage" as a live recording or "Elvis Country" as an early seventies piece. "Hot August night" is a new release with the only complete concert from 1969 on vinyl at all and so great to listen to... let me know... do you have some Elvis records hidden in the dark corners of your collection ?! :-)
A Day At The Races hängt an A Night At The Opera (schwarz auf weiß, wundervoll, oder?).
I think Meddle is one of the most underrated floyd albums, maybe not my favorite, but definitely up there. Check out my channel if you get a chance, you've inspired me to start posting my own VC updates!
Hi love your updates. it seems that u put a lot of care in them... q: what are the Classic records '45s that you have on the shelf? how do they sound thanks! Avi
Hi, first I want to say you have a great channel! I'm a bit prog fan, i like pink floyd, genesis, and kraftwerk, but i want to get deeper in to prog rock, do you have any tips?
+Dutchvinylfreak What kind of Prog are you looking for , if you want crazy Avant Garde stuff I would recommend Frank Zappa's Hot Rats . If you are looking for catchy Symphonic Prog I would Recommend Fragile by Yes . And if you are looking for stuff like Pink Floyd I would recommend early Porcupine Tree .
Zappa records for the most part did not sell very well when they were released. Uncle Meat is one of them that did not sell very well at all. Uncle Meat still is not one that is easy to sell. You got this for a very low price. This is one of my favorites of the Mothers.
I have a US press of Pink Floyd Animals that I bought new back in the day this record too looks mint only played two times but it sounds really bad I had to get rid of it I can't stand vinyl that is really noisy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>David Y
