you know, it’s an interesting idea. what does v1 stand to gain by destroying this thing? a bit of blood, nothing more. this thing isn’t competition, it can’t do shit to anything that doesn’t ask for it. all v1 can do is kill the thing that nearly ruined humanity. and yet, at the same time, in some roundabout way, v1 would not exist if not for this thing.
Maybe V1 has to kill it due to it's weaponry and hyperintelligence preventing any other way of getting past except through 3-ATAS itself, like it could be shooting down swathes of drop pods or angels or something far off in the distance, or maybe V1 is walking on a bridge and then it collapses from the things artillery.
I love how there's just a convenience store looking place/town at the bottom. Like its just a massive war machine that helped kill humanity, but you can just go buy a candy bar down by church.
"HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE."
My favorite part of ultrakill is when the think tank says "The War Without Reason will continue! You have a Mind Without Purpose V1 ULTRAKILL!! This is a Death Without Meaning!!!"
Given the lore entry, this final fight against V1 might be a win-win for the Think-Tank. It's previous attempt at perfection failed when humanity returned from the brink. Despite its brilliance, the Think-Tank just didn't have the ingenuinity to innovate beyond the bigger-n-better design philosophy of the Earthmovers. Yet upon learning of a machine born to succeed its magnum opus having done just that, it was thrilled. V1's rampage had no limits, it shot higher than the Think-Tank ever thought possible and was hellbent on extinguishing all life itself. In haste, it activated all available flood lights and angled them all towards the sky, forming a beacon for its beautiful, bastard child. Should the Think-Tank defeat V1, it will shall reverse-engineer its design. Restoring it, improving it, bettering it, **perfecting** it once and for all. Should the Think-Tank fall, it will die with glee. Drunk off it's own achievement, so utterly giddy. Because it would have finally fulfilled it's purpose afterall, being the driving force behind the creation of a truly **perfect** weapon. I can see it, the Think-Tank basking in all of V1's glory. Cooing as deep gashes in V1's plating heal themselves closed. Laughing as V1 parries a hell orb back at itself. Cheering as V1 lands the final blow to its heart.

"Machine, why must you do these things?? You were created for one thing only, why have they given you a Mind Without Purpose?' -Gabriel, while V1 is exploring the layers of his palace
Frankly, if my hunch is right and this think tank _doesn't_ run on blood, then I'm scared to plunge into this Badboy. No blood to heal with. No respite from damage.
TL;DR for 3-ATAS terminal entry: Human make chatgpt into a warcriminal. he made vampire machines. they give him a little red kool-aid, hijinks ensue. he tries calling his daddy for a few dollars, but his stepson replies with giving him 10 dollars in quarters (and a free lobotomy.)
I imagine an escape sequence with earthmovers shooting beams that start destroying the think tank, with you still inside, so it's not over after the last wave of enemies
3-ATAS level idea 1. Most common in almost every room Mindflayers (because funny hot lady make big brain computer happy) However these mindflayers are weaker as their wires are connected to the various outlets around the 3-ATAS and therefore cannot fire homing energy balls or use melee attacks BUT they can still use their laser attack when V1 is out in the open you must destroy the mindflayers to damage the outlets and destroy any forcefields preventing progression 2. Actual fodder enemies Drones A LOT of drones All rooms have at least one drone if not 10 of them Streetcleaners patrol the tight corridors if any and will chase you down 3. Defenses Sentries patrol high up areas and snipe V1 from very large distances They appear on the outside on top of large pillars held up by the 3-ATAS as snipers as well as appearing inside large open rooms to snipe V1 from anywhere in the room Don’t forget idols protecting both the sentries and the mindflayers producing shields 4. Weapons Guttermen and Guttertanks could be around any corner with landmines set up to ambush V1 Swordsmachines are also around 5. Horrors beyond our imagination 3-ATAS has many of the husks and demons hooked up to blood pumps to fuel itself just like the gutterman do You can put the poor souls out of their misery to heal extra health if needed However 3-ATAS cannot get blood from Stalkers so it sends bomb shells containing idols and stalkers alongside them in order to prevent V1 from healing off of them 6. Your not the only one who wants it dead Demons husks and angels will appear every now and then either in the background or in the same room as you to assist in the extreme difficulty of these rooms as the 3-ATAS is forcibly controlling every machine inside it except V1 which it cannot gain access too these other enemies won’t target V1 until all the other machines are dead and its just you and them in the room 7. Confronting yourself 3-ATAS has been watching V1 for a while and sends mimic V1s after you that it personally created with the scrap of dead machines you have laid waste to in the upper layers However because these V1s are so uncontrollable they refuse to work alongside the other machines in the 3-ATAS and are only used as a last resort 8. True battle You finally reach the core It has mindflayers attached desperate to keep their master alive as the core sends various machines and uses it’s high tech defense systems to destroy you After V1 finally defeats the 3-ATAS All of hell comes to unleash death upon the 3-ATAS for what it has done Husks, demons, angels. Everything except other machines comes to completely obliterate this nightmarish creation as V1 has 2 minutes to escape this damned factory of torture and war Hell bullets appear everywhere Lasers, lightning strikes, everything the husks demons and angels are capable of tear apart the 3-ATAS from the inside and out and V1 has to avoid the projectiles to have a smooth escape As V1 finally escapes you get to watch the last ten seconds of the 3-ATAS’ final moments as all of hell surrounds it pelting the dying super computer with various attacks The 3-ATAS explodes killing everything around it leaving nothing but a crater in it’s wake and the memory of what it had done
So, from what I understand, based on the "Surface of Earth was no safer than even the deepest pits of hell", the last machine 3-ATAS created was the Earthmover (as in the official ULTRAKILL lore the Earthmovers were the ones who made the surface of Earth unlivable, forcing the remains of humanity to live on the Earthmover's backs), right?
So we got: *"War Without Reason"* - Earthmover. *"Mind Without Purpose"* - Atas. *"Death Without Meaning"* - ??? *"Fate Without Destination"* - ??? Is summarize perfectly.
An idea: when taking down this boss, we play as Gabriel. Like if he stumbled upon 3-ATAS on accident, after his second defeat. V1 woudn't have much pupose to take him down, since he does not run on blood, therefore, V1 woud just run past him. Gabriel sees 3-ATAS as the reason machines discoverd hell and directly responsible for his defeat.
We also have the Masquerade Divinity mod that lets you play as Gabriel, maybe they could add it if they were going to deviate from the normal Ultrakill story (since you're Gabriel now)
Somebody already commented this but, i feel the story kind of shifts the story away from humanity escalating its own downfall in their own entrapment of a need for pointless war, and how in the end these were just tools, and goes against it by putting a big rogue ai to blame. Maybe its just me but i find the aspect of humanity being to blame much more interesting than another rogue ai lead to human downfall story.
Yeah I still need to tweak the story a bit. In a way I feel like humanity is still to blame as they were the ones enabling the AI to design these weapons of war, and they were the ones physically developing the concepts 3-ATAS thought of. Also this AI only worked for one country until the very end when it went rogue, so other country’s such as Germany and Russia still designed the gutter man/tanks
I think it suits well with the theme of Ultrakill of Hell being a giant, orchestrated system that maximizes pain and suffering above anything else. It would make sense for something as frivolous as a machine to find Hell and bring it to Earth.
I have to agree with the others that i prefer the humanity causing their own demise thing but i absolutely fucking love this sadistic little supercomputer
While I like the concept, if Atlas was real i feel it would change the lore from “humanity causing its own downfall” to “Ai gets out of control and causes the near extinction of mankind” it feels less like humanity caused its own downfall directly to it was more an accident (while still their fault). Again do love the idea but it feels like it shifts the blame to someone else, even if humanity in the end is responsible for its existence. Anyway keep up the good work
The way I see it, the ThinkTank is less "the guy responsible" and more just a personification of War itself. They kept feeding it in order to find ways to become stronger, and it just ended up becoming out of control real fast. Even those who would want to stop the war just _can't_ anymore, since it's become something far too great for any individuals to control. Hell, that's the whole reason the Final War even ended, because _Earth itself_ literally couldn't support it any more. Not because of mankind, but because of their creations.
You know what could be a really cool final phase attack for this thing? Hacking into v1 and turning off the thing that renders things and lower resolution to avoid clutter (machine have a thing like that to calculate surroundings faster) and turning your frames per seconds to 30 but your graphics to look much better, and then you could also have a secret cheat like this to unlock.
It also displays a thing in the corner to cover part of the screen and explain the FPS drop. Something like "Lock_Rendering_Speed_Hack: ONLINE Rendering speed: 30 FPS Declutter_Filter: OFFLINE HUD_Display: OFFLINE GET OUTTHOUGHT, LESSER MACHINE - ThinkTank"
Definitely a cut above most other ULTRAKILL fansongs I’ve seen, especially since this song, along with the premise behind it, actually sounds like something that would fit nicely in the actual game. I especially like your take on the interior flush sequence part. Keep cooking, king!
"THIS IS INFINITE HYPERDEATH,VERSION 1,MY MIND HAS NO PURPOUSE OTHER THAN A WAR WITHOUT REASON,YOU DID A GODFIST SUICIDE AND NOW YOU SHALL FACE MY IMPERFECT HATRED"
i feel like given enough time i could write some kind of hellscript about this thing. about how hell has basically consecrated it as a temple of war within violence. but i dont know how much i could do that
This was for the most part intentional. My idea was to have the song and level be sort of a mirrored reality of the original 7-4 with the same structure, instruments, etc
This is a very cool concept! I remember my old ahh own Violence Layer concepts with V1 fighting some sort of Creator-Machine in 7-4. This Machine was supposed to be working on the river of boiling blood while endlessly creating armies or machines. The music slaps hard, too. Awesome job!🔥🔥🔥
Maybe im looking too deep into things but... does the lore of this imply that it saw something LIKE the earthmovers in hell and drew inspiration from them??? What the hell did it see...
This deserves an upvote, so I gave it a thumbs up. I really like this song a lot. It feels really close to the Earthmover’s theme, but this is its own flavor among that for being a 7-4 song. It’s absolutely perfect honestly. 👍👍👍
very cool but my initial thoughts about the lore of 3-ATAS is that since the final war is implied to be ww1, isn't it a little unrealistic for highly intelligent, sentient computers to exist at that time? this machine would have existed for 200 years, being built sometime before 1950 while the computers that assisted the moon landing only had 4 kilobytes of ram and 72 kilobytes of rom, and ran on roughly 150000 lines of code compared to the 62 million used for facebook. of course the guttermen and guttertanks are autonomous i thibk but i dont know if theyre as highly intelligent as the v models? no hate if youd prefer to handwave it but im curious if you considered this
my idea was if they had guttermen in ww1 times then they probobly could have had a rudamentary AI that would eventually upgrade its intelligence over time
@@brushtromeinwell, earthmover and V1 were both made almost 200 years into the war, so it makes sense that they'd have very advanced AI. but machines explicitly built way way earlier, such as guttermen and guttertanks, would also need to be explained by hakita somehow
One by one they lined up as they marched. Hell shuddered as the line of think tanks approached it's wrought gates, ready to pick the corpses of hell clean in it's infinite hunger. Like ants to hell.
Honestly, interesting idea if this was a level - but perhaps it has some sort of technological upperhand ove rV1, especially if it lead to its creation. The level starts with V1 getting bodied, and reduced to your starting pistol - you work throuhg the level regaining your weapons, then when you reach the bossfight bro things he can take you 1 v 1 - since afterall, brain over violence. Violence however proves to be contrary
I could just imagine 3-Atas cockily talking to V1 throughout the level, constantly mocking and berating him until V1 makes it to the chamber containing his brain. In that room there's........ nothing? Just V1 and the brain of 3-Atas, completely out in the open. Atas has gone quiet, (So has that banger music he's been playing through his speakers) thinking nothing of it V1 goes for an attack on the brain but right before the attack hits an Idol barrier appears around Atas's brain. So, this wasn't going to be as simple as he thought, huh? Immediately after he finished that thought, a panel in the floor opened up, as sounds seemingly hydraulic in nature got louder and louder. All of a sudden, a voice is heard, ringing throughout the entire facility, however that voice was not the annoyingly cocky voice of 3-Atas. It was feminine, and much more robotic than Atas's. "Connection in progress. Connection in progress." 42% 71% 95% 100% "Connection stable." The voice stopped talking as the source of the noise from before made itself apparent as a hydraulic lift rose from the hole in the floor. On it, a familiar silhouette, shrouded in steam. Was that....... no, it couldn't be him. Last time he saw him he was just a steaming pile of scrap! As the steam cleared it became apparent that it wasn't that so called "Upgrade" of him that V2 was supposed to be, but...... himself? The other V1's optic opened and cracked its knuckles, brandishing two weapons. What looked to be his railcannon and revolver, though a bit different, a bit more refined? Hopping down from the platform that was now a few meters above the ground, the copycat then spoke in the mocking, FUCKING ANNOYING VOICE of that prick known as 3-Atas. "I take it you're a bit shocked, confused even? Funny really, you gave me just enough data on you, and just enough time for me to be able to recreate you, albeit with a few improvements. Now, fight me, I'm excited to test your abilities myself." The fight then began, V1 rushing in as he usually did, however it quickly became apparent that he was heavily outmatched, in everything except skill perhaps. The poser had replicas of all of his weapons, improved replicas. They were stronger, and faster loading, and just general improvements over his, however that was not where the differences stopped. The imitation could take a beating, it could also heal through blood like he could. Unlike V2 this robot might've been a, and he hated to say this, a genuine improvement over him. Each attempt, and each snarky remark by Atas made V1 get angrier and angrier. After what seemed to be around 100 attempts 3-Atas dropped all of his weapons except the revolver. "I thought you were better than this. Guess not, so I'll give you a handicap." V1 was FUMING. HE was being given a *HANDICAP?!* He *would* wipe that metaphorical grin off of his face, it would just....... take some time. why did I write all of this?
Seriously I love the motif this one has it feels even sadder than the original I like to imagine that ATAS final plea for forgiveness was during the escape sequence
No, but it sounds like a great name for what earthmover's theme will be in ukmd (I hope ukmd will have different themes and maybe change up the bosses as a whole)
I like to think 3-Atas, having gone slightly insane due to isolation during the great peace, doesn't really care about its own prolonged existence. So, while V1 is going throughout its insides, it's simply watching, and challenging V1 with enemies for its own entertainment, while simultaneously creating and broadcasting this song through speakers littered throughout the facility.
Imagine if at the end of Ultrakill we arrive at the frozen lake and see that lucifer is dead... Frozen, and all of his energy sucked from his body by hell itself as you have to fight the three men that were bound to be chewed for eternity
Imagine of the last boss of the violence layer would be a a giant cannon like facility that is guarding the gutterman, guttertank, and all of the robot there waiting to be launched throught a plane like thing or a mortar like cannon thay shoot bomb capsule containing the robot inside
god i've basically laid out my own idea for the story of the level since ive looked at this for so long - level starts out pretty normal, but thinktank is communicating and taunting other machines the entire time, through breakable screens, freshly printed books/pages, and terminals. - as the tank notices that v1 keeps emerging victorious, they begin targeting it, outsmarting it by manipulating the level's layout and such, closing doors and opening trapdoors, hiding its surveillance cameras behind glass so that they cannot be destroyed, etc. think aperture science, but much more aggressive and completely in control - this continues, and it's dropping its own lore the whole time, saying how it's magnitudes smarter than any other thing in hell, including the angels (and hell itself??? ego much) (it doesn't say it explicitly since hell is stronger, and the tank is smart enough to know better) however, the idea is that it has a persistent power source and is capable of more than animalistic pursuit of blood. (maybe it says something about how machines have plenty of blood and could live for centuries if they weren't desperately hoarding it all immediately) - this culminates in it forcing the player into a vent, where it immobilizes v1 with claw arms, or machines that it's controlling, causing a cutscene where the player is actually immobilized the whole time. the tank grievously injures v1 while it's immobilized, either by piercing through it, or by ripping off an arm (which i think could be a nice callback to what we did to v2) - v1, bleeding out and losing hp passively, is given a choice: 1. go into one room, and play a game against the think tank, proving that it is capable of higher thought and more than an animal, which has several outcomes, or 2. go into another room with machines, husks, and demons behind a wall, where v1 can fight for its survival and stall their death outcomes of playing the game are: WIN (thinktank gives brief congratulation, feels not so alone in their vast intellect, and then ejects v1 from their body, either leading to a secret level exit, or to v1 bleeding out outside the building), LOSE (thinktank says it was inevitable, drops some lore bout how they were programmed to be a strategic genius, a war machine, nothing else, considers v1's death a mercy due to their suffering and simplicity), or RUN OUT OF TIME (v1 bleeds out before the match finishes, thinktank simply says "oh well, goodbye.") all death situations lead to the same regular game over screen we all know, and respawning puts v1 back in the position to make the choice about blood or brains, to force the player to finish the level and validate thinktank's notions about how machines are all animals. when you fight to survive, the thinktank will pull you through several rooms full of enemies, teasing you with the part that they tore off of you. they say that they'll give it to you if you get far enough, and that you'll be able to stop the bleeding with it. culminates into a miniboss battle with the thinktank's power source. v1 wins duh, the tank expected this since it noticed you, it's not surprised, it never was going to give you your missing part, and now you have to fight out of the crumbling building as the delirious think tank rambles as it loses power. its revealed through its ramblings that it's very confused emotionally, and partially grateful for death as its intelligence and purpose are a burden but also partially screaming and clinging to life as it never knew anything but war and longs for more in life. its also very conflicted about you. it knew you would win from the start but its ego cant handle being beaten by something so basal and simple by comparison. the escape section should feel like both you and the think tank are having psychotic breaks or mental break downs. the building explodes before you can get far enough, and your body is flung far along with the corpses of the machines and husks that you killed as the screen goes dark. then you reboot, kept alive by the stale blood you lay in. in an emergency survival state, you slowly crawl through debris, flesh and machine parts as you look for a piece to replace the hole in you. you find (either a part of the thinktank, or the part it took from you), jam it on yourself, and get up as normal, then walk into the exit door at 1hp. sorry for textwalling but it was midnight when i made this and i wasnt able to ignore it :/
I think something even better would be you getting on the escape vent in time but ATAS3 forcing itself to explode in a last desperate attempt at “victory”, before V1 is sent flying remaining g at 1 hp
