Im in my 2nd year of lessons, stated on my 60th birthday! I feel like its going to be YEARS before I get this! Everyone says..you picked the HARDEST instrument out there!!!! I'm not giving up, and happy I'm reading music again! I will definitely give this a try, something my teacher has been saying as well, it just feels so awkward. Thank you!!

Keep at it! I started at 58. Five years' on and I'm playing in a good amateur orchestra! It's been a tough road but one-by-one you manage to tackle the technical issues. Daily practice and going over things you find difficult are key. And, yes, bowing technique is critical. Good luck!

Itzak Pearlman has a very relaxed bowing wrist. Michael Cleveland does not, and I don’t know how he plays so well with a totally locked wrist.

Sabrina, I want to thank you very much for this video! I only began playing in May of 2023, at 44 years old, and this may be the single most helpful tip I've heard since I began playing! Being the cynical, jaded middle-age guy that I am, I didn't have my hopes up, but wow! It works! It really does work! Thanks again! =)

Dear Jedediah, your note fills me with joy and pride! Violin is incredibly nuanced but we can always break things down step by step - that’s the secret! Keep chipping away and remembering why you wanted to start in the first place ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! I am 16 years old. I’ve been playing violin for almost ten years. I’ve just finished learning Preludium and Allegro, but my bow arm has always felt off and inconsistent. This helps a lot. Also another tip is to keep your thumb tight on the grip area!

Dear Julijell, welcome to violin! I hope your journey will be smoother than my journey on the violin. To begin Had I to do over I would never drink alcohol. I would also avoid coffee and cafeinated tea. A musician needs to be calm for long musical passages. The bow hold needs to be relaxed for quick passages theres no way to do this when your keyed up from tea or coffee. Im sure there are those of you who dissagree. I speak only for myself you may have different experiences. If you are not able to read music do not dispare! The violin was concieved during a time of no printed music!

@ATLYSmusic
@ATLYSmusic 7 месяцев назад
Rubber bands could be a fun temporary experiment, but I don’t think you need to spend too much time with them on! Find a way to let your fingers relax into position and get comfy there. Then they’ll want to stay there! Keep up the great work!!
