My reaction to the teacher getting fired for allowing young students to unbraid his hair in class. Was this appropriate? Sketchy? Let's discuss down below. Please don't forget to comment, like and subscribe. Thank You!!!

The internet never fails to investigate. They caught this man being a creep. A teenage girl that was clearly in a high school bathroom made a video saying she only like emo boys... Why did this man make a response video dressed like a emo boy. So turns out he actually does like little girls. Also I don't send my daughters to school to play in a grown man head that's suppose to be teaching. And why does he refer to them as his friends. I've worked with kids for almost 10 years. I call them my children before I call them friends. Hes grooming them little by little. Very inappropriate.

We all need to be Chris Hansen Tony, we can't give too much benefit of a doubt to people who claim to " love children so much" or call them selves " child lovers", " besties", " secret best friend". I'm pretty sure it's against school policy for teachers and students to be texting each other through personal numbers and uploading content without parental and administration knowledge. I mean, there was a story of a female teacher making a rap music video in her classroom with her teenage male students involved. I can't remember her name but most people in her community was celebrating her for creating her own music but if she was a man making a music video with his teenage female students in the class, singing about pimping them, drugging them and pumping them; wouldn't there be an angry mob outside by now?

Calling them YOUR kids (outside of a field trip) is way more inappropriate than calling them your friends. They are not your kids. Their parents did not birth them for you to raise and mold. You aren’t supposed to be molding minds as a teacher anyway - you are supposed to be imparting information. Cold hard facts. There is a difference.

@@Strawberrykoal When there are children, there are predators. We have to be weary of adults around kids; teachers, priests, coaches, step parents and foster parents. I'm not saying that the teacher here is a predator but the way he posts his content with his students in school settings without parent knowledge or consent raises eyebrows. If he did this for the school' s Facebook page, then I would have no issue but it was under his personal account. It would cause issue. Do you post stuff about your workplace and in the workplace under your personal account outside or during work hours?

I made sure to grab a random ugly mans photo from google and told my friend the story about this teacher. When i showed her a photo of the random ugly man. Her reaction was clear that she found it inappropriate, when i showed her a photo of the actual teacher her response kind of changed, like "oh... well its for content?" I did this to 2 friends and 1 male acquaintance. They more or less had the same reaction. My point being people are conditioned to think that average to attractive looking people are perceived as "good" or "normal" so ill intent isnt placed on them like it would for an ugly person. Which is CRAZY. Regardless of how this person looked, THIS is inappropriate.

1. he was on the clock but was filming content for tik tok (and probably profited off of them) 2. he also (because it was live) film underage girls uncensored. No only that but there is also the logo of the school on his shirt. So people on his live know where these kids are. 3. no only does he refer to his students as besties apparently he has also given these students, his personal phone number and email. those are the biggest problems with this video. People can argue about hair being taken care of being ok or not which I think is inappropriate. there are other tiktoks of him being inappropriate. I forgot the details but one was of a student asking him about how he feels about girls with big butts, and this teacher responded to this kind of question. there is also a video of a high schooler in the bathroom. something about her being only attracted to emo guys and then him dressing up as an emo. honestly, I wouldn't be surprised of other stuff came out but this guy does not have a healthy boundary between himself as a teacher and his students.

My biggest issue is with the free labor and the filming of children. I also take issue with the focus on the gender of the students. We don’t know anyone’s sexuality in the video, so to assume the possibility of attraction purely based off gender is unnecessary to the discussion. Would it be more appropriate if the boys were playing in his hair? All in all, I think it is inappropriate for students and teachers to have a physical relationship outside of a hug or handshake. Not to mention the health risks playing in someone’s hair can pose. It was inappropriate, but to assume anything beyond that is dangerous.
@TonyTurner

That's a fair assessment ‼
@lilysapphire3434
@lilysapphire3434 2 месяца назад
I agree, still I think it's fair to focus on the gender regardless of anyone's sexuality in this video, just for how frequently older man can influence or hold power over younger girls in many different ways. It's too irrealist to ignore the possible danger! Of course it would be just as inappropriate if it was all boys or if it was woman who was the teacher, but we all know that a grown man holding a position of authority, even if it's teaching, surrounded by only underage girls that are completely fine with extended physical contact, to undo his hair, something fairly personal, is not really a great influence is it? It is wrong no matter what way it could be difference, but the positions are too close to similar abuse of power we seem before, that's why people are focusing so.
@dajiyahmcae1880
@dajiyahmcae1880 2 месяца назад
@@lilysapphire3434 can we admit that this association is projection? I swear I’m not trying to defend this man, as it is my understanding that he is weird. However, the assumption that every man is out to get every child is a sad state that can harm as much as it helps. I had a male baby sitter who I am so grateful for. Male teachers and mentors who I still pray for. The power dynamic is in our heads, not necessarily theirs. Additionally, the dynamic you are associating with this scene may be that of a father and his children than a predator and his prey. I think we are just less used to the latter so we assume the former. I want better for us.

Oh my GOD with the “free labor” bullcrap Doing hair simply like this is not hard labor, and it’s not free labor. A wage is an agreed contract between an employee and an employer. A very good note as a male teacher is never let students touch you. No matter the intentions, its just better to not put yourself or that student in a situation that can be misinterpreted. I worked with kids of all ages and little kids dont really know boundaries, so some would come up and kiss me in the back of the head when i was sitting down reading a book or something and I had to tell them "Thank you, but thats not appropriate to do to a teacher, kisses are for family, but if they want they can give me the biggest hug they have" because its fine for kids to hug their teacher. I didnt want the kids to feel they did anything wrong by showing affection, but it also isnt appropriate to kiss your teacher, so I tried to redirect that affection to something that was acceptable. I dont think the guy should be fired for just this. I dont know how he responded when they talked to him about it, but if its just for this incident I dont think he should lose his job, but he does need to realize that intentions dont really matter in a teacher-student interaction. You have to not put yourself or the student in a situation that can in any way be seen as inappropriate.

From other black creators they pointed out that it’s normalizing (female) servitude-“why aren’t the guy students helping out?” And a teacher should never allow the broken boundary of allowing “bestie” as it’s not teaching boundaries between young students and their educators. The teachers that were cool were still addressed as Mr/Mrs/Ms, even reminded some “I’m your teacher not your best friend.” Also, yall gotta blur out student’s faces! don’t think he has their parent’s permission to put their kid’s faces online. Kids can’t consent because they don’t know better.
@fancydeer

this is a good point. We don't know the conversation that happened before hand or what was going on in that classroom which is a big part of the problem here. As for the "bestie" thing, that's just how kids in this generation speak, my generation called people "dude", generation after me called everyone "bruh" it's not that they see their teacher as their literal best friend, it's just what he was being addressed as. Which is too casual but has become a habit that they didn't break with this teacher and is also an issue that the man needs to break.

I totally agree and I think school rules don't allow teachers recording themselves and involving their students without both the parent's and school administration consent. Remember when kids got consent forms from their teachers to let their parents know about field trips, sex education classes or key note speakers at events? Parents have a right to opt their kids out of those events or choose an accommodation like studying in library or in their homeroom? Anytime there was upcoming field trips or lectures about sexual assault, sex education, I had to give permission slips to my parents to let them know and understand what I'll be attending.

I wouldve said it was fine until he said they were his 'best friends." And that HE was the one that asked- not that THEY volunteered. Younger teachers tend to connect with students more/better and if it were just some girls who heard he needed it done and VOLUNTEERED to so it and it was at lunch/break so it wasnt disturbing a lesson and he in his twenties (22-24) - then i wouldnt see much wrong with that. Would it be weird? Absolutely but I'd probably be more on the side its innocent as he wouldve probably been newer to teaching and in the moment just thought it was an innocent kind gesture from his students. The way he talks about the girls and that HE ASKED as well as he is RECORDING IT- that seems weird to me (and thats not even mentioning how he called them his BEST FRIENDS which is incredibly weird). The girls probably thought he was cool and could probably get fame since he was recording which, to me, seems like abuse of power (whether he realised this or not). Honestly, it wouldve seemed innocent if the context wasnt so stacked against him and I've seen teachers take advantage of students before- especially teachers who are seen as 'cool'.

My story… is a little complicated. TL;DR - My English teacher from SEVENTH GRADE groomed me. I wouldn’t find out until I was an adult. When I was in 7th grade, my English teacher used to always playfully pick on me. We constantly had banter back and forth with each other and would roast each other all the time. My mom ended up getting a job in another state, so I had to move. On my last day of school there, I was acting out a lot because I’m autistic with ADHD and didn’t really know how to control my emotions regarding the move. He pulled me outside of the classroom and told me to stop acting a fool, because he was just as upset that his favorite student was leaving. That’s right, he called me his favorite student to my face. He also told me, “But if you tell anyone I said that, I’ll deny it.” I took that as a joke. Little did I know he was protecting himself. He gave me a really big hug that lasted a little too long, and played a whole goodbye song for me. I just felt cared for. I didn’t realize how… inappropriate it all was. Years later, I’m 18 years old and working at a Starbucks. For this, you need to know that he lived in Florida, I moved to Ohio. I found him on Facebook and added him. We began talking back and forth consistently and that’s when things started to take a turn. Also, for the record, I’m a trans male. This is an important detail. In 7th grade, he knew me as a female. He was gay, so maybe his actions back then weren’t fully sinister? When we reconnected, I told him I was a trans male and his treatment of me immediately began to change. He started calling me things like “cute”, “sweetie”, pet names you’d call your partner. He sent me a… naughty story… that he wrote and let’s just say it had some major red flags in it. Then one day while I was at work, I was in the back and my coworker came to get me. She told me that there was someone at the front to see me. Who do I see when I go out? My teacher. That’s right. He flew from Florida to Ohio to see me at work. And how did I react? Excited because I hadn’t yet realized just how inappropriate our friendship was. I went to give him a hug and he picked me up and spun me around. It was as we continued to talk that I began to realize… things weren’t right. I can spare too many more details because it gets absolutely crazy… But let’s just say I ended up calling him out, threatened to report him to the school board, and he blocked me on everything. So yeah, uh… That happened.

I’m sorry about this story. I have a similar one with an elementary teacher. He was my speech pathologist in elementary school and I was pulled out of my class to be in the room with him. I knew him for a long time but didn’t know who he really was. He had adopted children and had touched them along with a student. I just can’t believe that I trusted him because I never would have thought he did these things. He also filmed cp and he was arrested. I’m thankful I wasn’t preyed on but it really shocked me as a kid and still now. He was actually really nice and it’s just surprising

I understand the expectation for professionalism and etiquette given the setting he is the adult in the situation. However, I don’t think he should have been fired but I understand why the school chose to let him go. After hearing your perspective it has made me fully aware that those were minors and he posted them on social media I forgot that portion that he was filming it. So yeah he should have been more cautious about that and plus no one knows what was stated in the school’s policy regarding such situations. There certainly was a lack of boundaries demonstrated but I hope he lands on his feet because it’s never easy losing a job.

Oof this is in my field, okay So i grew up in a church with the same people and we were very close to my leaders and adults in the church including hugs and stuff. I used to braid my leader's hair all the time and it was fine. Problem is, a few years after i stop going, we find out there were creeps in our youth group Years later i become a teacher and i would be "friends" with the kids (elementary to 6th) and the older ones would get joking and we'd play around but there is a HARD line when it comes to physicality and certain joking topics. When the kids got comfortable with us, we had to remind them that there is a line and that "kids your age arent supposed to be friends with adults" Thats what the problem here is. Unless it's family, kids should not be comfortable touching adults because it leaves them vulnerable to predators. If a student wanted to braid my hair, that'd be fine and they'd be safe, but it then makes it normal so if a creep asks them to do the same it could lead to problems Kids dont need to touch adults. End of story

You can help them with stuff like homework or comfort them when they are having a hard time, but you should never ask them to touch you or do certain favors. Because that breaks that certain distance you need to have with teacher student relationship

There was this one teacher in my high school. He used to teach us online during the pandemic and he was annoying. So I used to do job hours in high school after I got back, usually they'll let me in the building where the kids with disabilities go to. I got back from campus one day and this dude was outside with these kids sitting on a chair and notice he was recording a video with them on his phone and as soon as I was about to enter the building to go back to my class he put his phone on my direction as I'm walking to the door trying to get my attention.
