Phillip Scott reports on a viral video of Black men wearing suits and the backlash they received for it. We have been socialized to be against our own community and some have it on autopilot.
@EastAfricanOGThe fashion brands FUBU, Phat Farm (and the Baby Phat add on), Bricks and Wood, Darryl Brown, Denim Tears (Tremaine Emory), Brownstone (Warner and Waverly Watkins), G + Co. Apparel (Will Dennis & Naeem Holman), and Telfar Clemens are all FBA's and there are many others (especially by FBA women who created the 'Ashro' fashion brand amongst others).
@EastAfricanOG 🤔It's quite obvious that you harbor a deep seated hatred & jealousy of Black Americans, that you were too inept to do any research before making that statement and so the joke is on you, continue laughing at your own foolish assumptions🤦🏿♂
it's unbelievable ! Brothers are trying to do something good for the community and our own people can't handle it. It's a wonderful idea! I love this concept we should do more of this in social media
We as black American men need to get back to the suit wearing, we have an opportunity to debunk the image that the WS media has given us and I’m lovin’ it.
That is the image we portrayed and still do white ppl have nothing to do with it. Understand THEY choose that. It's not an image when 60% of crime in America is caused by our own race.
Our elders and ancestors did that already, and white people still did everything in their power to get in their way! How about we stop focusing on what white people think and worry about doing what’s best for us without their input! Please get TF away from this mindset of having their approval.
There is a cultural anthropology and sociology concept referred to as "print capitalism" that is the mechanism for what you are referring to there about the media.
When my cousin pased away I met him in an all white space with no floor, wall, or ceilings. He was dressed in an all white suit so sharp. We hugged and he told me he was ok and had to go. This was 23 years ago and has motivated me since.
Wait it our people that hating I thought it was them folks I didn’t watch the whole vid now that a shame if I see a brotha in a suit I say looking sharpe there where the party at
@@joejames9974 Nope it's the Black Gynocracy, it's Concuserfs & 🌈 Cult affiliates whom are the primary sources for the demoralization and destabilization of the Black Communities throughout the USA and Anti Black Misandry is their religion 💯🎯
@@joejames9974You be surprised how many black people, especially the women, put other black people down. It's happened to me. Former friend of mine made fun of me for talking properly, doing well in school and reading. 🤦🏾♀️
For this to even be a story is an indictment in itself. How can you find something negative about this? This world is ass backwards intellectually in a lot of ways
@juice9100 It's not so much the world but it's "Liberal Induced Western Culture" where Anti Black Misandry is an integral aspect of the culture, especially here in the United States which is Ground Zero!!!
As a Black Woman, it warms my heart to see Black Men taking pride in their look and appearance! I am loving it! I’m not sure why Black Women are so upset! Wouldn’t you rather see them in suits as opposed to them dressing in street wear sagging and looking unpresentable! SMH! Much love to these men!
I love seeing our men like this. I hope to see more of it. It shows they respect themselves and want more for themselves. Even if they don’t have everything they want right now, it inspires them to know they are on their way to getting it. Be it before you get it. Anyone who has a problem with this image of our men, has a mental problem and should be ignored. B1✊🏿
YOU CAN WEAR SUITS OR ANY TYPE OF SUIT THAT LOOKS LIKE YOUR COUNTRIES CULTURE AND LOOK RESPECTFULL. ITS HOW YOU CONDUCT YOUR SELF, IF YOU SOUND UNEDUCATED, AINT TALKING TO YOU. REAL TALK.
Black men that wear a suit and tie are men of class and distinction. These men know what they want and they go about getting it. They are not going to deal with foolishness, ratchetness or craziness. These men be about the business of doing business. And I love to see a sharp dressed man.
Me and my besties were just talking about how sophisticated and classy that our people use to dress. I’m all for it put our young men and women back into way of dressing❤
Correct in 1960 living in New York City the blacks men and woman dressed so elegant and men dressed as businessman. We Spanish speaking admire them because they looks nice. Special for Church and Easter Holidays 😮 they were dressed like today businessman and the woman , girls, young men children etc where they gone😢
In New Jack City, when Nino Brown threw Christopher Williams off that bridge in 1991, it symbolically killed not only the era of the wavy brother but brought thugging out and hip hop culture, keeping it real cultures and urban dress to the front and FBA culture has never recovered.
It doesn’t get any better than a black man in a suit 💜 With that being said, people have an issue with it because to them it’s a symbol of black males acknowledging and walking in distinction. A suit represents professionalism, authority, and gives a commanding presence. It represents potential and power. And that scares people. It scares people that are used to being the standard and it scares people in the black community who are comfortable with fitting into the black male stereotype. It serves as a reminder to them that black males recognize and are unwilling to conform to stereotypes that have been made about them. It’s like if someone has a super power and they were unaware of it, but other people knew they had it. Then one day that person begins to realize what they have and starts exercising it. It’s intimidating, it makes others uncomfortable, and jealous.
My Daddy was always a suit man. He didn't wear jeans and a T-shirt until after my 40's and that was one time, lol. When he wore a suit to my Mom's funeral, it was a surreal moment. It brought back all the memories of my childhood with my Daddy taking me out in his suit. Lord willing, I am burying my Dad in a suit.
Most men, before Kennedy assassination wore suits Unless playing ball with the neighbors on Sundays We need to bring back stores being closed on Sundays as well
I can't wait to see Black women in their business suits and dresses, also. I love looking at pictures and videos of how respectfully we used to dress every day back in the day with our Sunday best on. There was no twerking and thuggery. Just class and Black excellence. Let's start trending for that. Give them something else to be mad at. ✊🏾💯❤️
@@tredinabrown2249yea i pointed that out already that the god in that Bible is not a god to blk people. Those are wht people gods who falsely pretend as our god.
10/6/23....THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE A BLACK LADY DRESSED 👗 FOR CHURCH! THEY ALL LOOK LIKE CLASSY MOVIE STARS FROM THE GLORIOUS PAST! TALK ABOUT "ALL PUT TOGETHER".... JUST SAYIN'....
No words...I always stop to watch those videos: nothing like a sharp dressed brother (yourself included) to make my day. I thoroughly enjoy seeing my brothers stepping out in STYLE.
Very positive!! this is the way we used to dress. People who down something like this are showing jealousy and ignorance. It’s so refreshing to see a man dressed well. I applaud them all. It’s a wonderful thing!
My OG Elder just helped me get my whole wardrobe game up. When my son told me that I look grown asf in my new wardrobe, It made me feel grown asf. Then I came across this video. Let’s continue changing the game black men. They hate us cause they ain’t us.
I’m was one of those who had compliments of your suits. My dad worked on wal street, also a pastor. So I can appreciate black men well dressed. Thanks for sharing
It is ridiculous Phil, about 6 months ago, I had someone in the comments section of a video ask me why my YT profile photo was me wearing a suit🤔 I am the Chief Executive of my own company… It is just pure ignorance for this to be an issue for anyone….
That's how my father dressed when I was growing up, and my husband in the 70's always dressed in a reputable way. To this day I'm proud to say my son's has followed in their foot steps.
I absolutely love this! Yes these black men look ready to take care of business, protect, provide, teach, and love them selves, their family and our community ❤ Real men look like this. And yes how you present yourself from the moment you walk out the door matters.I said what I said APTTMHY 💪🏾🦁
This is the only way to make a decision about what you need for your life insurance plan for the future of the life you have been given by the Most High and the best way for you to understand how KING MANSAdressed the riches BLACK MAN the world dressed all HIS LIFE. The riches MAN in the world. Given his wealth by OUR KING Ahayahs gift.
We in Africa need to see such positive images too, because everyone wants to become what they see on tv. For instance here in Nigeria people keep things simple by voting one political party. The ruling party after many years in the office, got cocky and brought in a candidate with tattoos, pierced ears and dreadlocks. They are not the parties in office anymore. Our parents still believe in looking dignified.
Saw a new ad last night showing all black men advertising jeans 👖 Took me back to the history of the jean. When I was very young my father forbad us to wear them. He said only those who were very poor or whites wear such rough clothing. I didn't own a pair for many years 😂😮
Sometimes I wear suits just to go to the mall and get a haircut. It makes me feel good mentally. I also have my regular polos and button up shirts. It’s the fragrances that really does the trick imo. A good suit or outfit and a decent high end fragrance that you black women can’t help but notice. Oh I got my fragrance game on point.😊
As for Me as an African Amer. Lady, I know these Brothers Look Fabulous, Magnificent, Enticing, Marvelous, Handsome, Fantastic and Debonair !! I LOVE IT !! B1 ❤🖤💚
This is An Awesome Idea. It creates and promotes a good image for especially young men. Much as I hated wearing a suit when I was young, I appreciated it when I got older. People treat and look at you with more respect. Great job Brothers!!!
This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I love every last one of them. They are making me smile when I see them. Save the negativity for the people out here doing wrong. This is BEAUTIFUL.
African Diaspora Scott , you look so good in your dress code - i used to wear Suits - i admire Suite Code - always watching you i ve never felt tied of seeing you - keep it up. lack men .... suites. and also, think, behave and act responsibly - despite the terrorism facing us!!!
I love this immaculate image of black men in suits. They look distinguished and dignified! Even our brothas on the continent in their customary traditional suits looks very honourable👏🏾👏🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏿✊🏿❤️💚🖤
We need to stop caring about who hate , who makes comments and who doesn't get it. Let's just worry about us and stop trying to be excepted by other races. I'm black , I dress like this let's keep pushing!
Thank you! I get so tired of Black people saying the dumb stuff about what other people think! Like, why are you even worried about what people who don’t even like you think about you? It’s so ass backwards and delusional, the complete opposite of progress.
@33ladyRAM what is understood doesn't need to be explained. If I see my brothers getting on and it's a beautiful thing, IT CAN'T BE QUESTIONED! You add value to the ones who would try to ugly it up by giving them the attention. When we are better served, giving that attention to what is beautiful. Your point is taking though
YOU CAN WEAR SUITS OR ANY TYPE OF SUIT THAT LOOKS LIKE YOUR COUNTRIES CULTURE AND LOOK RESPECTFULL. ITS HOW YOU CONDUCT YOUR SELF, IF YOU SOUND UNEDUCATED, AINT TALKING TO YOU. REAL TALK.
Simply Praise and continue to Praise the Right and Good Deeds! We Must Not give ANY Time and Energy to NEGATIVITY! God Bless Black Men in the Struggle💕💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
That's exactly what the "Enemy" wants us to do. They are also going to send in the Opps to divert or distract us from the assignment. Stay focused my people. We almost out this hell hole.
Absolutely love this. I’ve been saying for the last couple of years, I wonder what would happen if black men started wearing suits, how would they be treated. You’ll never know what will happen until you try it. Thank you for this video.
Dear bro Phil, What a relief to see our brothers come out the way that they did. Yes, Martin Luther King, Malcom Shabazz, Hon. Louis Farrakan, your goid self and millions of other kinsmen turn out neatly. Thank God Almighty. Cheers to us all!
