Our ability to utilize virus vectors to treat or prevent human diseases has been made possible by the contributions of basic virology research. This work has provided a fundamental understanding about viral genomes, replication, and interaction with the host that together with clinical research has created the growing field of therapeutic viruses. In this final session of Virology Lectures 2024, we describe different viruses used for gene therapy, how they work, and examples of their use for treating bacterial infections, vaccines, monogenic gene therapy, and viral oncotherapy.

- Who Am I? -
I’m Vincent Racaniello, Earth’s Virology Professor, and I believe that education should be free.
I’m also a professor of virology at Columbia University in New York. I’ve been doing research on viruses since 1976, and teaching virology in classrooms and online since 1999. On this RU-vid channel I share videos of my lectures, podcasts, and more.
New videos are uploaded several times each week.
I do not run ads on our work as it is disruptive to learning. We depend on your support.

Its amazing this channel has 500 episodes since covid, each more than an hour and not a single critic of the mRnA treatments. Its perhaps worth mentioning the same week this was published, the Japanese study linking covid vaccine to increased cancer and cancer morbidity. I could list a dozen other things that would be interesting to address and were never implicated in this channel so i can only assume extreme incompetence from our experts here. Or is it willful malfeasance? The link with cancer is so easy to establish considering the mechanism of introducing the RNA inhibits the gene protecting from cancer mutations. A high schooler can understand it. But nope. Shame!

Oh that sham study , check out the critique in that study on debunk the funk channel This channel does not discuss studies that are not well done unless pointed to

No it does not inhibit the gene . Also you failed out that the unfolded proteins this produced is so minute in quantity that the cleaning mechanisms in cell always clean it . Why discussing the hard fact about that make you honest and when was an antivaxer honest ? Lol
