You're such an encouraging role model Deanne! I've been working on growing in and reclaiming parts of my culture and heritage that I wasn't able to experience as I was growing up. I was given up for adoption (not 60s Scoop, my mother's courageous choice as she didn't have schooling, a job or a steady home) and my parents always have done what they could to help me with my Indigenous background but it was difficult, not knowing where I came from. A few years ago I spent many long months contemplating, designing and building my own Northwest Coast Button Blanket and entered the Pow Wow circle. I always feel welcomed and it's such a privilege to be able to dance. Thank you for your sharing and your efforts in bringing the culture and community closer together.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I won't be making a dress but really appreciate what you are doing. I needed this growing up but didn't have anyone that would help me. I can only imagine those that are able to make dresses today and have someone like you to turn to. Chi Miigwech!

hi i came from your “old style jingle dance steps” video and i was wondering, i wanted to post a vid of myself jingle dancing but i don’t own any traditional clothing or anything so it’s just me dancing in a regular outfit, would it be disrespectful if i posted it? my family doesn’t know much about it and i couldn’t find anything elsewhere so if you have an answer that would be nice :DD
Do you have any tips I sadly can’t do the course at the moment because my family can’t afford it so I’m learning on my own this is my first jingle dress and I am trying to reconnect I am somewhat connected like my grandma taught us some tradish teachings but not when it came to powwows
What if my dress was bought for me by my mom! Because she was unable to make one for me!! ..I'm in process of designing my beadwork and start my training

I asked my aunts if they could make me a jingle dress.... Then sent my uncle my measurements.... Its been 4 years 😭😂 and they aint started. So imma make one 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Edit: we make fancy shawl dresses and add in a appron for the jingles to go on so all we have to do is take off the appron and we can dance fancy
