Thank you so much for this, you are really good at teaching this stuff by the way! As a musican of 13 years or so, this is my first day in virtuoso and I am totally dumbfounded. This is so cool.

You kid are 13? Then enjoy the advantages of modern times, young artist! Be it in graphical art or sound making, we are living in very interesting times. Tools have become so intuitive! So go for it and enjoy the ride! 🖖🏻. I'm turning 53 this year, always active on IT, but only recently got my 1st VR set, and only a very little bit of musical experience (self taught) and I'm having a ball! Same with drawing on a huge samsung note 8 ultra tablet with a pressure sensitive wacom stylus... gadgets have become more than useable, they have opened a whole new world, better tools and new ways of learning... I have been a programmer in my days, and believe me, I have seen bad user interfaces! Virtuoso has been beautifully designed! I was dumbfounded too! I already liked it from the youtube videos I had seen before buying it, but when I bought it and was "in there" myself, it was like wow, so cool, so intuitive! Amazing, better than expected and greater than life! I am still amazed 😂.

This is very solid, really nice work. One minor comment for consideration - maybe it is just me, but after you record a new part maybe let it play out at least once with the whole song before cutting into the next thing. So that the viewer can keep up with how the whole picture looks :) You do a lot of small cuts in the video, and that is fine, but I'd say at least let it play out uninterrupted once after new thing was added so that audience can understand whar you did better and stay in touch with the whole song :)

It’s not as intricate as some of the top tier programs out there for making music obviously but, this app is amazing. It just streamlines the process and makes it so organic. The amount of work you could produce here is for $20 is awesome. I’m just getting to know it so I didn’t actually realize how this all worked until watching this video.

Very informational video for us music making beginners. I’ve come back to this video multiple times for different things I’ve noticed that weren’t necessary pointed out in the video, and it’d be really cool if you could at time stamps, where you mark what you are currently teaching at that time. I Appreciate your teaching style! Thanks!

I'd like to point out that my description of inversion is inaccurate and it's a much more in-depth thing than "just moving one of the notes". Trying to properly describe them would take half of the video, so I decided to go for this ugly simplification. My apologies if I bamboozled you with it.

Indeed, now that you mention garageband... I remember garageband because I used to have an iPad, and garageband indeed gave me that feeling too, but Virtuoso is sooooo much better! It blew my mind (but then again I'm not a pro, just an enthousiast beginner). Adding an i-Korg in VR to my wish list lol 😅.

Would like to know more about the scales and how to set up for the very common 1564 ie C G Am F chord progression.
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud 2 года назад
Well, you can use the method I described in this video and use numbers 1564 instead of what I was playing. You form triangles on top of those numbers and you will end up with C G Am F if you are playing in a Cmaj scale

I've heard some reports from other players who had a great success recording real-life instruments with quest's mic c: might be a bit awkward to record instruments like guitar, but harmonica should be really cool! Good luck and have fun! Would love to hear you post your results in our community's discord!

Great tutorial. I'd love to see what other songs you make. I hope they add less synth-y instrument packs or free updates in the future. I was surprised to have gotten along starting songs of my own, your video explains the basics very well. I'd like to see more advanced tutorials and maybe even see you produce whole/final versions of songs in the future. Bravo!

How is the clarity with mic recording for lyrics? Also can you use a few channels for this for adlibs and such?
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud Год назад
Depends on your headset's microphone - Quest 2 and Index microphones are quite decent. All the lyrics in my videos were recorded on Q2 microphone. If you want to use external audio cards together with Virtuoso then you can use companion app to link Virtuoso with a DAW of your choice and use it as a MIDI controller. This way you can have the power and flexibility of a DAW with the virtual instruments of Virtuoso

PC VR! Game is available on steam and Rift platforms. If you own the game on Quest you should also have an access to the Rift version of it :) On PC VR you can also change the camera settings, switching to 3rd person view or even adding LIV passthrough capture. Here are two beautiful examples of those things being used to their full potential: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5fGMvERa2qo.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ofPz72lgYbs.html

So I labeled my notes differently, let me know if this makes sense to any of you, because you're labeling of the notes kinda confused me. On the Board: from left to right 1A1 = Top left front note. Moving to the right is 1A2, then 1A3 and so forth. Moving down from 1A1, are 1B1, 1C1, 1D1 and so forth. Moving back from 1A1, are 2A1, 3A1 and so forth. And so to with 1B1 is followed by 2B1, 3B1 and so forth. Additional notes with controller buttons X, A, BL1/BR1, and BL2/BR2 are assigned accordingly: T = X, A (top / thumb buttons) F = B2 (front buttons) S = B1 (side buttons) So the notes would look like: 1A1(T), 1A1(F), and 1A1(S) I have tried a few different methods and this so far works the best for me, when I want to write down my notes played.
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud 2 года назад
Starting to label notes from top left corner is probably not the best thing to do, since the root is on the bottom row and each row above it is shifted 4 tones. So 1a1 will be 4th note in the scale. Better start from the bottom left corner.
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud 2 года назад
But in the end, if you are understanding your own notes - it works. Just be aware that this might be confusing to there musicians and would be troublesome to translate to classical sheet music

How do you make the sequence shorter after recording?
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud 2 года назад
You can't edit loops after recording (yet). Best you can do right now is disabling the loop manually at the right time or timing your recordings tightly so that you don't need to shorten them. You can also use slow swells of volume to make loop transitions - it will allow you to time things however you want - they will blend in anyways.
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud Год назад
There was an update that allows to make loops shorter now 👀 and a bunch of other cool things like volume control over time, shifting, copying and grouping multiple layers into a single track..

Ugh, sorry for not answering for so long. Adding the piano and other classical instruments is tricky because of the way the game produces sounds - they use Helm Synth under the hood and it has a pretty wide range of customization, but making presets that resemble classical instruments is... Tricky, if not almost impossible. I've tried many times to make my own electric guitar with it, but it was mediocre at best. Devs might consider changing the synth engine, but the development is currently being fueled by pure enthusiasm, since there is little to no funding for the project, so it's not going to happen any time soon. I won't give up on the game though, as there is still plenty of stuff to learn even with all the limitations :p

You can’t edit the effects post recorded tracks also some extra synth patches would be a bonus . Hoping to hear a quality songs in the future.
@glitchcloud
@glitchcloud 2 года назад
Yeah, you can't edit your loops after they are recorded. Devs express interest in adding some sort of post-processing, but that portably won't come in the near future, since there are things that are higher on priority list. For now I highly suggest trying to play with one hand and fiddle the effects box, tempo sync, arpeggiator length and tempo - you can get some really cool results this way ;)
