I just purchased a Visio. Maxis 702XD, and I’m having the same issue. It’s a bad design, no question about it. But bending the rails isn’t the solution I’d have thought of. I think a thicker gasket would be appropriate.
i brought a s series 3 years ago and could not keep it below 350! i found 4 places where it leaked.1-where the ash pan and frame come together 2- around the electric door 3-and where the ash pan frame meets the ceramics. 4- the air adj. knobs. had to tighten and lock tight the nuts on the back of the knobs. I silicone the seams between the ceramics and ash pan frame and gorilla tape close the electric door. for the pan to the frame leak (i have a gasket on mine} i gorilla taped that seam, and all is good now, do a light test , get a battery lamp and put it in the vision grill with the fire bowl out (do this at night) and close the lid. look for any light. if you see light there is your air leak.
@@dannyyang656 I had this problem too! Been working on creating a seal and I've been using a bungie cord on the bottom ash drawer handle to keep it from rocking downward. Im glad he showed the penny trick, I read the same forum and the guy explained it but i couldnt vision it (no pun intended).
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this grill either today or tomorrow. Thanks for that fix, but, I see people are referring to a gasket. I don't see what gasket is being referred to.
This video has been up for almost a year and I'm just now seeing this?! I appreciate the help as mine has the same problem. I'll have to give this a go because every time I cook low and slow it only stays low for like an hour, then it skyrockets!
Wait, yours came with that gasket? Mine doesnt have one. No wonder mine is terrible! It also doesnt set flush due to the drawer arms being unlevel. Thanks for the penny trick! I'm also trying to seal the electric starter flap, it leaks as well. I havent achieved low and slow execpt by putting tin foil over the chimney to control the flow out the top. Are you able to dampen the grill completely ?
Jazco , yes, I can cook low and slow very consistently with the Pro S. I’ve actually found that even if there is a bit of leakage here and there, maintaining 225 is very doable. I actually have stopped manually adjusting the airflow in favor of a Flameboss 500. I prefer the automation and it allows me to sleep, go to work, etc while smoking my favorite meat.
Jazco mine didn’t come with one either (just bought a week ago). I was scratching my head wondering why there was not a seal there and now I know there is supposed to be. Let’s contact Vision. Seems like a quality control issue.
