I've lived in Maine my entire 64 years. We (me anyway) love people from away here to explore and vacation. We have some jerks, but the large majority of us are a friendly type who want to show you around and enjoy your time here. Thanks for coming to visit!
Maine is so pretty but very different in so many ways. My brother and his wife lived there at Cape Neddick. We went to the lighthouses. I loved them. Be safe out there. Hope to see you guys again.
We definitely have fast food just like anywhere else but it is true that local restaurants are way more dominant here. Which I love. Portland alone has an amazing food scene.
Thank you both for all the info... we are going to Maine (NOW after labor day 2025) cannot wait to see everything we can... we are from Mississippi so it will be a huge change but on my bucket list... thanks again.
Great video. We were in Acadia the same time you were. The people are amazing, as is the fantastic scenery, (The lobster is pretty darned good too!). Cadillac Mountain was one of the most beautiful sites we have ever been to. You two are very informative & real, as well as all of the RU-vid videographers you ran in to. Thanks again, hope to cross paths in the future.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it up there. We had an amazing time! it was so beautiful. We will definitely return at some point. =) Safe travels!
Harold, I think you just coined a new phrase: “The mullet of seasons”. LOL. Love it! You guys shared so many amazing tips! We will definitely be heeding your advice when we head up that way in the future.
We went up to Acadia a year ago in September. It was absolutely beautiful and we cannot wait to go back - Driving through New York State as well...amazing...great video guys !!!
Thank you for your visit...a year late I know...2022 was amazing for leaf peeping! Actually though, after the peepers left so, we got to enjoy the gorgeous colors in a less hectic environment...so happy you enjoyed your stay 😊
@@1StrangeAdventure I live in Rockland...a few blocks from the waterfront... it's beautiful no matter the season...hope you get to visit the area while your here...we have Rockland Head Light, Owls Head Light close by as well as Marshall Shores light within a 1/2 hr or so driving...all easily accessible with awesome history if you're interested 😉
@@maggiedoja check with a realtor way in advance... median home prices are approx. $450,000.00...of course there are large fluctuations either side of the price spectrum but still costly in the Knox County area...rentals are practically non-existent... I live in a 2 bedroom duplex and our rent almost tripled about 1 and a half years ago... very hard to find good rentals unless you don't mind a commute... take your time... consider your options but to be honest? I will pay to stay... it's that amazing here.
My 5 year old was watching this and I told her you guys were halfway to the north pole. We’re getting a camper this next summer and she said “when we get our camper i wanna go camping at the North Pole!!!” Haha. Might be a long cold drive there.
This is awesome! There is Christmas, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. It's not Christmas themed, but still cool to be that far north in a town called Christmas. =) Have fun and get out there and explore!
I noticed that you haven't mentioned the Scarborough salt marsh it is awesome if you bring bug stuff. Bailey camp ground is maybe a mile twords Rt1 . It is run by the Maine Audubon society you can rent kyack's and canoes there and it is huge
Thanks for the info! I will add this to the list for the next time we are in Maine! There is a lot we haven’t seen or done there yet so if you have more tips, feel free to share 😊 It is greatly appreciated!
Yes bug dope is an absolute must I particularly recommend a brand called Ben's bug dope hunters best friend though it doesn't smell good but it is an active joke amongst us locals that the mosquito is the unofficial state bird
I want to go to Maine next summer. I got a little confused on where and when. I thought I would start up at the top (north) and work my way down. So what date do you suggest? And, what end would you start at at? ALSO, I travel alone (so far) and am somewhat limited with my walking ability. This will be my first time in Maine. Thanx, AmazingKeith:-)
Right after Labor Day was amazing but I'm sure there are other times that are just as good. I think we lucked out. The days are great and the nights are cool. Towards the north, you are seeing leaves change colors already. Everything around Ogunquit started closing down around the 2nd weeks of October. If I were doing it again, I would probably do the week of Labor Day up north. Acadia the following and then southern Maine the third week. Thanks for asking and when ever you decide to go, I bet you will enjoy it! Maine was amazing. =) Safe travels!
And another thing about all that private land thing most of that forest land while private property is owned privately by logging companies so private yes but not private citizen own it's private company owned
Yes it is! I grew up in Portland! Miss living there most of the year, Winters are tough, but miss not having snow for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Best shellfish in America, one of the most beautiful states in the country! Live in Texas now, my wife grew up here, but she loves Maine, and New England, and we go back whenever we can, usually early October, to see my mom, and enjoy the cool, crisp, and beautiful fall foliage, do the coast, north, and south, and of course eat the best lobster, and best shellfish anywhere!
