This comment must have been deleted by the poster, showed up in my email: "I know it would sound weird, but why did reddit banned me for posting camo guys faces? I just took a rarest photos ever, and boom! Gone!" I haven't checked Reddit yet today, I am a mod in r/area51. But to answer your question - it's a dick move. Many times I could have taken closeups of camo dudes faces, but I don't. They have security clearances, and didn't ask to become RU-vid/internet stars.

This is a sensible and respectful take. Lots of people don't seem to realize that filming the camo dudes escalates things, because randos filming people with security clearances at their workplace is inherently threatening. They can get *fired* for your dumbassery. Good on you, dude.

Ive had encounters with the area 51 camo dudes similar to your encounter here with them just coming up and politly asking me what im doing woth my drone and letting me know where I should and shouldn't go

Not surprised. They know what's up, you know what's up. They obviously have the ability to escalate ~really~ quickly if required, but not every "challenge" needs to be a confrontation under threat of deadly force. Sometimes, all that's required is a gentle hello and prod. Ultimately, their goal is to have the most boring day possible. If you're chill, they'll be chill.

Yes, very unusual. Probably won't happen again, as I was yelling at them parked on the camo dude lookout on Groom Lake Road. I was pissed... long story.

@@TheArea51Rider Idk-they're probably still pretty cool with you. I suspect that they know exactly who you are-they've probably got records/research on all frequent visitors to the perimeter. Even the most basic research reveals that you're not a serious security risk. Unless you start behaving like a truly belligerent asshole (Pretty off-brand; you seem nice), they'll probably just be like: "Ah, it's Area51Rider again. Who wants to check on him this time?"

I'm sure that the guards understand the mystique draws people in-and it's a beautiful area in the first place. They're a lot more concerned about dumbasses trying to push their luck than frequent visitors with decent heads on their shoulders.

I've watched you for a long, long time now and have seen every video, some multiple times. As always, good content. However, it's been a long time since the AWC debacle, probably should move on from it. Side note, I hear the contract on the patrol trucks is up for re-negotiation soon and the Toyota Tundra has been mentioned a few times.

They'd probably pick up the camo dudes removing them... And you wouldn't be getting them back. 😬 That said, even if you did actually record the perimeter of the base, you're very unlikely to see anything of interest. The first restricted perimeter is still ~miles~ from the site. You might capture some commutes. That said, there's zero chance the Feds would tolerate any shenanigans that could potentially identify Area 51 staff. If you set up fixed cameras, they're going to be removed-end of story.

Are there fences everywhere? In the past there weren't even barriers at the entrances. Only before the "Area 51 raid" were security measures increased, right? Greetings from Germany, Claus 😄

Only some of the more visited border points have fences and gates. Even those only go for maybe a 1/2 km each way. Yeah, before "Storm Area 51" they hauled concrete blocks to put in front of the gates. They also installed that yellow gate at the Groom Lake Road border point.

my understanding was that they only had sensors on the roadways - do they have them all along the fenceline now for foot traffic as well? and are you sure those coordinates you posted are right? doesn't seem to quite match where you were walking

I doubt they have or use road sensors any more. Some good cameras on Bald Mountain makes them obsolete. That is indeed where I was. The camera is located here: 37.288541°, -115.588932°

I think they’re worried about trail cameras trying to catch what’s flying he said in the video he’s within 10 miles of the base and considering the Mach 5 and above speeds and the length of the runways the aircraft probably fly out quite a ways.
