I’m from Scotland and I love America, and I love these old quiet western towns, they’re just like you see in the movies! Love how everyone’s into the alien stuff too, likely because they’ve seen so much stuff themselves out there 👍
Zebras, camels, donkeys, wild horses, aliens, cool old forgotten towns with vintage style---this video has it all, Adam!! I love this one so much! I sometimes think that you're one of the luckiest people on Earth! Your road trip videos are the best of the best!
This was fun. I'm from the area so I can help out with a couple of things. Pioche is pronounced pee-ohsh. The reason for daytime headlights is that when large stretches of desert roads and highways get hot it causes a sort of mist-like distortion. Headlights help make cars more visible to other drivers within that distortion. I hope you spend more time in the area!
This is a great thing that you are doing for Nevada. Most people don't know about the wonders we have here in the Silver state. The one thing I would like to recommend is continuing on to Great Basin National Park. It will give you a completely different view of Nevada. It has very impressive mountains, forests, and even a cave to tour. Wheeler Peak is awesome. It looks like a pyramid glacier sticking out of the surface of the earth. Didn't d the cave though no dogs allowed. Except service dogs. Yeah no lazy dogs, really wow. Thanks again for the shout out.
I love this series man. There's something peaceful about forgotten places. I'm from India, and if I ever visit USA, I'm gonna make sure to spend some time in the countryside and small towns.
@@internetcensure5849 With our govt bringing the third world here, we'll be just as bad soon. Not to mention our home grown third worlders that have already destroyed the cities...
Now these are my favorite type of videos of yours. Traveling through the states and small towns without an actual planned route and coming across interesting things along the way. Sooooo much fun. Thank you for doing these and sharing them with us, Adam. Very relaxing and fun to watch. Stay safe out there.
Interesting fact: that entire train and the set up it sits in was once in front of Main Street Station Casino. The Casino owner across the street bought the land to build a parking garage. He bought the Train and I believe donated it to whoever would pay to have it moved. You are the G.O.A.T Adam. You always find the best places...thanks
Loved seeing the wild 🐴 horses! What a nice surprise to see 2 adults and a baby horse in the wooded area, near the highway. Thank you for talking with them, and cautioning them to keep away from the road! Cheers, SG
Thanks for this one Adam. I'm just not feeling very well today mentally and your videos always remind me that life doesn't always suck. Seeing wild horses, and interesting landscapes and those long deserted drives sometimes can be therapeutic.
His videos are always therapeutic , hope you feel better , in the future you can Visit some of those areas it is relaxing just being on the road and exploring .
Thank you for this. I lived in Vegas for 10 years and found my soul in the random desert places around Nevada. Loved the wild Mustang spotting as well! That was a favorite past time of mine, going and randomly finding a Mustang herd in the desert 🏜
The “headlights on” zones are about accident prevention. Typically on open expanse two lane high speed roads accident rates (head-ons in particular) are researched to note the difference when head lights are on in daylight.
Long sometimes desolate stretches of road will easily hypnotize drivers. Been there many a time, havent't you? Headlights of oncoming vehicles are a no-cost safety measure.
In the mid 90s I worked for Dominos Pizza for a few months. One of the "safety requirements" they had for drivers was using headlights day or night. It just became a habit and it didn't take long to realize how much more visible I was in general than without.
@@RiverRatWA57 Perhaps, but there are other vehicles out there that aren't red semis or as big. Remember that there are others in the world and small acts can improve safety for all.
My Dad grew up in Pioche. My Grandpa worked in the mines. It was always a fun place to visit. It always felt like we went back to a better time. Love your videos Adam!
Adam you're correct, that train is the one from Orlando. A developer by the name of Bob Snow who was a big player here in Florida purchased a hotel in old Vegas and named it Main Street Station as a hat tip to Church Street Station. He then brought in relics from all over the world including a few of those train cars which used to reside in Orlando and put them in and around his Vegas casino. The rail cars were used by Buffalo Bill Cody and Annie Oakley during their traveling shows pre Deadwood days. Bob Snow was a prolific collector of various rare items from around the world. I used to own a claw-foot bathtub from England that was in his collection. He started liquidating things and then sold the Main Street Station to the Boyd group some years back. The open desert is a strange and mysterious place.
7:35 That train IS from the Main Street Station hotel in Las Vegas! That train, canopy and all, stood in a parking lot outside of the hotel for ages, but the land was sold to make way for the new Circa hotel (specifically its parking garage). So great to see that the entire display has been preserved!!
This is the first video I have watched on your channel, and it's amazing! Love your style. I could live in a shack in this area of the country, and die a happy man.
My maternal Grandfather worked at the Rex theater in Caliente during the Depression. It was a pretty opulent place for a little Nevada railroad town. Aimee Semple McPherson and a small entourage once passed time there while their car was being serviced at a garage. Word got 'round fast, and soon every housewife in town had arrived with sanwiches, lemonade, cakes, etc. Very hospitable townsfolk, even during hard times.
Such a seriously cool vlog just loving all the sites and the animals the wild horses just amazing cannot thank you enough I don’t want this to end lol 😆
I saw mostly wild cows driving through out west and a few horses. In North Carolina there's a huge population of wild horses along the beach. Just make certain to never approach them even if behave tame. You'll get your ass kicked!
Those layers in the mountains were actually the bottom of ancient seas from 1/4th to up to 3/4ths of a billion years ago! Blows the mind, right! This sort of video is the type I like the most from you! Kudos!
Of the seven years I've been watching, this may be my favorite vlog. The Ward Charcoal Oven State Historic Park was definitely an awesome find. Thanks for taking us all along Adam.
If the road has dangerous sections, like narrow passages, tight curves or mountains...they require that you turn your headlights on in the daytime to help visibility of on coming traffic.
Where are you from? I'm in Colorado Rockies. The only time we leave headlights on are in tunnels or bad low visibilty storms. What good are headlights in the day time?
Distance is kind of deceiving with the dips in the road. Some serious accidents of people driving fast and not paying attention. The county sheriff patrols the road and catches some guys trying to see how fast their car will go on those roads.
@@redpill5471 They greatly aid your visibility to on coming traffic. Motorcycles have their lights on all the time. I come from Arkansas, and trust me, we have some switchback roads, where lights come in very handy during the day time.
@@LadyDragonsblood ummm motorcycles are smaller than cars and are hard to see. That's the only reason they leave headlights on. Also Colorado has 14,000 foot mountains with much deeper canyons than flatlander Arkansas. Im just speaking from experience.
@@redpill5471 Then fine .... drive without your headlights on. Just know there ARE some places where daylight headlights come in very handy. Why make an argument out of absolutely nothing.
Wild horses in Northern Nevada, so many so they have built overpasses and underpasses along Interstate 80...In the Reno city limits there are numerous accidents with wild horses as well. By the way Pioche is pronounced pee---och...Cool you made it to Ely pronounced e-lee...Nevada is desolate but beautiful....Thanks for letting me tag along...
Was Ely the last town in the vid? I've been to Ely many times and that didn't look like Ely. He must have entered Ely through US-50. I usually enter Ely through US-6.
Wow what an eclectic selection of sites on this video! Annie Oakley train from Orlando, random camels/zebra/zoo of some sort and Disney themed alien jerky shop amongst other things! The drive is beautiful and unique for sure.
Fantastic adventure. So enjoyable to hang with you. My 2 buddies Frank and Jerry and myself did so many trips like this. Brought back some special moments from long ago. Thanks Adam.
What an amazing video! I was saying "WOW!" right along with you. Makes me want to go on a road trip right now! Thanks for taking us along on your awesome adventures. ❤
Oh wow. What are the odds that you would decide to travel down that quiet little highway that's off the beaten path, for you to find a seemingly random road that takes you to discover Ryanhenge, a Camel hanging out with a bunch of other animals, and of course Main Street Station. Honestly, all of that would have been amazing on its own, but we all know that you're Adam the Woo, so it absolutely cannot end there. Seeing the Main Street Station sign caused you to think about Church Street Station, a place that's thousands of miles away from where you are standing and as you were walking towards a railcar under the cover... boom! Right in front of you is a Church Street Station railcar. Seriously, what are the odds? Your ability to find things in places that seem to defy logic, is unbelievable. LOL. I can tell you I probably would have never gone down that road, let alone take the highway you're going down. You're a modern day Magellan. Lol
I could hear in your voice how happy and excited you were when you found Pioche and all it's treasures. (Not like you sounded in Vegas haha). I enjoyed this video, Adam. Thank you!
Adam did you feel like Dennis Weaver driving your Plymouth Valiant through those mountainous two lane roads while being pursued by a blacked out Peterbilt Tanker truck???
The scenery is much like the eastern side of Spain in the Almeria region. I used to have a property in land from Mojácar, going toward Tabernas ... Tabernas where the many spaghetti westerns, Indian Jones and much else was filmed ... Nice video - Thanks
Fantastic!! I'm glad you appreciate the beauty the desert beholds. It has many secrets one cannot see at a glance. Loved seeing a camel. We have a local celebrity camel of sorts named Izzy. He's actually very friendly and loves people. Loving the Route 66 adventure. Traveled it many times to various areas.
From my very small amount of traffic engineering knowledge, the headlight zone is so you can see oncoming vehicles more easily, increasing safety since it's a high speed two lane road
Could not believe the amount of solar panels when we drove through there. In Australia the biggest solar farm we went past on the way into Victoria was nowhere near that size.
I found my favorite moment of all time from all your videos (and yes I've watched 90% of them) this video and the wild horses. So happy you pulled over. Beautiful 😍
This series! I need to go explore Nevada again. Last year when I went, I ventured out to Goldfield and Beatty and Henderson (loved them), but there's so much more to see, so much I missed.
I love these trips to areas many of us are unfamiliar with. I love all of your videos, but these are my absolute favorites. Thank you, Adam. Stay safe.👏🤠👏
Wow! Thanks for taking us on such interesting adventures! I'm an adventurer, but broke my neck a few years ago, so can't travel a lot. But thanks to you and your adventuring videos, I feel like I am right there exploring with you. So thank you!
Adam, your at your best as a solo traveler. Really liked those authentic western towns you go to. Reminds of Silverton, CO. Fun fact: Wild horses are called mustangs.
Thank you for always being so consistent with these videos and showing us little areas around the country that a lot of us don’t know exist. Can you imagine if you did this on a global scale what that would be like!?
I was just out there last week. From Vegas, to Zion, Bryce, Lake Powell, and Grand Canyon. This video brought me back and continued on to the roads less traveled. Thanks for the upload, I really enjoyed it.
Hey there, watching from Adelaide, South Australia. In the outback here, we put on our headlights so cars coming in the opposite direction can see you better. You're Welcome :)
Adam, I’m glad you had a good time in California doing some Disney stuff and other things, but I’m glad you’re back on the road. I do open those videos up though of the Disney and I like the video for the support but I don’t watch them, I despise Disney but when you do all these open roads small towns the way you do it is just amazing. Keep up the good work drive safe out there.
I really enjoyed this video because I love old buildings, “ghost towns” and different and unique things….but all your views are great! Thanks for sharing!
You find the most interesting places to share with us! This one was really cool. Please be careful out there while traveling and out in the middle of nowhere. I really appreciate you.
I really enjoyed this video, just exploring and seeing what you can find. I love discovering old forgotten towns. Plenty of those here in my home state of Oklahoma. For some reason I haven't made it out to Nevada to those wild open places to explore. I hope to one day make it out to the old west areas and just do that, explore! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Very nice trek out there with some unique items to adventure upon. I loved RyanHenge and the animals - they had to see The Woo. Always great Adam you never let me down I don't know how you do it through all these years! Best wishes!
Thanks for another road trip, back roads of America, stay awesome Adam. I like to see things that I probably won't see in person so you be the one to take us there on the road. 👍👍😎📹
The wild mustangs ❤️❤️❤️. Absolutely beautiful. I love seeing them like that.- Cute old cowboy town you found. Looks like it could be an old movie set. - The reason you had to run the headlights I believe is so your car is more visible to on coming traffic. Other wise it would just blend in with the terrain. - You finding all the neat stuff out there in the desert.
I've driven on that highway many times. The "Lights On" during daylight hours is for safety, as in cars/semi-trucks passing into your lane of travel. I've seen several times why it's necessary.
I dont think thats enough power. Most people in nevada are hooked up thru Nevada power and a few get it from the dam. Nevada Energy corporation that is. A monopoly if i ever saw one.
I love this episode! I love the back roads, old towns and old mills/coal ovens you stopped at! Which hotel did you wind up staying at? Are we going to get a tour of the accommodations you stayed at?
Daytime headlights are so other cars can see you coming. if you pass out there in the desert, sometimes there are heat waves going across the road. You cant see oncoming cars if the lights aren't on . This happens a lot on the long straight roads!
Great coverage of central/eastern parts of Nevada. I'm born and raised in Vegas and pioche and ely are def some of the coolest towns in Nevada. If you haven't done goldfield and tonapah, make sure to check them out next time!
By far the best vlog on your trip from and to and from. Loved the wild horses you spotted near the road peeking out behind the shrubs and the zebas, donkeys, wild horses, a camel at that neat place with the train and all the other interesting finds.
Your a master at finding these weird and amazing things on your journeys. Gotta love out in the desert so much beauty. Thanks Adam for todays drive. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
I was back in Orlando Fl in 2015. Church Street Station area had had a lot of reconstruction/building which ruined the entertainment business' beside the station. Rosy O' Grady's was sold and a restaurant called Cerviche was in it's place with very few customers...Rosy's was a great place, a pity. The train carriage was used as an antique store back in the 80's. Great to see it again.
If you want to experience an area with wild horses; you need to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. To get the best experience of the Outer Banks you need to stay in Corolla; North Carolina. To get there, you need to get to Kitty Hawk and then make a left. The road is a two lane road and you pass through a small town called Duck, and then you hit Corolla. The town of Corolla has literally no big name restaurants, two grocery stores and several shops. Then to see the horses, you need to have a 4x4 or take a horse tour as to get to the area where the horses are; you have to drive on the actual beach to the village of Corova in which there are no paved roads. You then drive through the small 4x4 village in which you will see several wild horses that will go up to people porches, graze in yards, may cross your path or may even be some playing on the beach itself. Then back in Corolla, they have one of the oldest working lighthouses that is still operated by a lighthouse keeper. The lighthouse keeper lives on property and you can actually climb to the top of the lighthouse and look out over the sound and ocean. You can also take a day trip south to see all of the Outer Banks lighthouses like Hateras. In addition; prior to crossing a bridge to the Outer Banks there is a place that allows you to ride in an actual monster truck that also has an old fashion diner and gift shop.
I just mentioned about this area in another post. I don't suggest to say some are friendly because many are not and may kick you etc. Keep a distance. Even tame, semi tamed horses under human care may attack people even if not threatening them
