ሰወች ከመቼ ወዲህ ነው ድርቆሽ (dry matter) የሚበሉት?

Cows are fed by-products of factories e.g. frushka from flour mills, fagulo from cotton seed processing, geleba from lentils/pulses-which people DONT eat and dry hay!-which people DONT eat. Dairy farming is one of the most efficient waste-free farming activities-I know this because I am an urban dairy farmer. Milk provides nutritious food security, particularly for children and the elderly. Dairy waste if used in bio-digesters provides CO2 free energy for cooking and lighting after which, the remains make fantastic compost!. Instead of worrying about how much cows eat if you were really worried about the environment, I suggest you focus on the imported chemical fertilizer and GMO seeds polluting our agricultural land in the mistaken belief-more is better. GMO's need Chemical fertilizers. GMOs don't reproduce so the farmer cant save the seed to use for the next harvest. Once the soil gets used to chemical fertilisers, it needs it every time seeds are sown = dependency. Chemical fertilisers pollute our rivers, aquifers and soil unlike natural organic fertilizers like-Cow manure, which actually builds up the quality of soils! . So, The greatest threat to Ethiopia's agricultural productivity is chemical fertilizers including those used by the horticultural 'flower export' industry-which uses huge tracts of fertile land and we don't eat but, production contaminates waterways and soil. Did you know, it takes a minimum of 5 years for soil to be completely free of chemical fertilizer and pesticides?.
