I have been an Epilog customer for years. I currently own the Fusion Edge and it is a great machine. I am considering a fiber glove laser and Epilog is very much a company to consider. I do think their competition is coming on strong is this market as well. My main consideration is dependability and Epilog has it. There tech support is outstanding!

They’ve always been great for me when I’ve needed something. There’s definitely a lot of competition coming up.

You are right they are really investing on making machines with a lot of durability and making them lasting for long. Those guys are very cool. I met they last year on an Epilog technician training in Europe and it was a lot of fun. We could disassemble and re-assemble the machines but didn't see any inside of the laser tube. So cool you could see it

We did “the tour” back in 2013 on our way back from IPMS. If I recall, we never left the one building…entry/demo/assembly tour etc. My boys loved it. Side note it was my oldest son, now part of our company, whom remembering that tour at a much younger age, suggested re-evaluating a laser in our workflow. We ended up investing in 3D printing instead at the time, but that’s another story. Things have come around full circle and we’re looking at a small laser (Maker 24’ish, yeah would love a Pro (servos!!) but this is supposed to be a biz case for cost reduction for us) this time around. Have looked at quite a few companies. Eliminated several through RFI process. Another side note, I think in watching some of the new Epi vids I saw the gentleman whom gave us the tour way back when. A couple of lessons learned from years of equipment buying (lasers (evaluated)/table/sliding saw/ VMCs, etc) 1) always see the machine your purchasing be used on your test patterns 2) repeat #1 here 3) repeat #1 here. Only thing I’m 🧐 at in the vid, is they dont have a Maker 24 in any of the shots. As our local distrib doesn’t have any Makers, looks like another road trip to Col, but only if they can demo the M24. For Fusion 360 users, found an Epilog Post for Fusion 360 at Autodesk post downloads site. Looks like everything through to tooling works for cutting setups eg tabs, kerf offset(maybe), simulations works for toolpathing , etc. output is to an html file; that is meant to be printed to an Epi printer via Chrome. Ok, wait a sec. We do not allow Chrome In our shop. So how does that help us? Click the “no html headers” and then gen’ it. Import it into CDraw and there ya go. From there send it to Epi software, we’ve gone as far as Job setup. Now without having a laser we’ve gotten to this point, but haven’t actually cut anything yet. Working with local rep (call tomorrow) to see if he can get our file to cut as expected. Fully think it will, we were able to paper-laser print the parts from CD and they came out perfectly to scale as expected. We are extremely excited about this. For anyone who uses F360 and does multi-machine production on a single item (eg some parts are 3D printed, some parts are CNC’d, some parts are laser cut) and you know what parametric brings to the table….nuff said. This promises to be the most seamless laser integration, if it pans out, into a workflow that we’ve found. For small shops like us, this could be awesome. Now Epilog, how’s about making life easier on a lot of us CAD/CAM users while increasing part precision possibilities (think curves) and support importing STEP files please 🥹(my best puppy dog eyes). If that doesn’t work, I’ll send pics of my boy’s 🥹 eyes 😈 I’ve got STEP to 3D printers & CNCs but wait for it.. svg/dxf to laser. Which one of these machine types ain’t like the others? Honestly, if not for this Epilog post for Fusion 360, we may not be still looking at Epilog. Ok, I rambled as usual. 🫢☺️ As always YMMV and likely will. Just sharing. Nothing more. Nothing less. Not associated w any manufacturers/makes mentioned other than as a satisfied/unsatisfied paying customer. Have a good’un now, ya’ll hear?

I made it to the end! 😂 At the time I took the tour, the Maker was still relatively new. I believe they have one in the demo area but it would be worth asking before you drive out there.

@@MakerExperiment I’m a southerner, can’t say nuthin not even mornin in less than 200 words 🤦🏻‍♂️. Yet couldn’t write a one page essay 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thought I saw a M12, but no M24. I did see this was posted 3 mos ago, but wasn’t sure when it was shot. My local rep is gonna help coord if the test cuts look pretty good on his larger machine. Cheers and thanks for another video! And be warned, mind if ya talk to a southerner in person we’ll talk your ears off and superglue back on a few times till we’re done 😉

I live a little ways down from Epilog and have asked to get a tour to help me decide which one I will order.. I was curious what Watt CO2 laser is in your Epilogs?
@MakerExperiment
@MakerExperiment Год назад
I have two that are 60 watt and one that is a 30 watt.
@justintime9133
@justintime9133 Год назад
@@MakerExperiment how big of a difference do you see between the 60 and 30 in the engraving and cutting of polycarbonate or harder materials?
@MakerExperiment
@MakerExperiment Год назад
@@justintime9133 the 60 watt will do it much quicker helping you save time and get through more material quickly. It mostly helps production time but it can also cut thicker materials than a 30 watt.
@justintime9133
@justintime9133 Год назад
@@MakerExperiment thank you very much. I had been looking at a used Fusion Pro 32 at 60w but was also looking at a Maker 36 with 40wat. The only thing I wish they had was pass through doors but Epilogs Quality is 2nd to none.

I’ve always approached my local distributor (DFW) first. Just a week ago, this last time. Had a price list within hours (he was driving when we first spoke). Unfortunately/fortunately(?) maybe heading back to Col for demo as local distrib doesn’t have machine we’re interested in. Only thing I thought was outta line was a finance company contacted me in such a way/wording that I thought they were actually Epilog..turns out it wasn’t. They should have been much clearer of who they were in the VM, IMHO.

oh so that's the place where they ignore all customers' emails and approve horrible international dealers. Cool place.

@Batendor
@Batendor Год назад
@@MakerExperiment If Epilog has as high of standards in selecting international representatives as their prices, they would make sure that their dealers are professional, dedicated, and respond to customers adequately. Unfortunately, none of that is what I'm experiencing, this was perhaps the worse investment I made. Doesn't help that customer services never respond to emails either. Nothing you can help out from your end though. Just thought this needs to be mentioned to whomever thinking of going Epilog outside the USA.
