Flew over from Miami three years ago on my first trip to Europe and saw the Mercedes Museum. It is one of the highlights of all my trips to Europe - I was blown away. My only regret is that I walked past the soccer stadium while they were getting ready for a game and I didn't go in!
We unfortunately were very "close" on time. I think we had about 45 minutes to look at the whole museum which was enough BUT it was a little rushed. I wish we came earlier because it would have been nice to see the Porsche museum as well.
Mike is marking every place you are visiting, is that an old Bavarian tradition to remember this places in the future. Getting emotional at these specific places and topics like wars is very human, I'm glad that you get these emotions.
@@HayleyAlexis Never stopped my mom though. She was like Mike in that regard. Walking through the woods somewhere off she goes, squatting behind a bush, singing 'der Mond ist aufgegangen!'

Isn't Wolfsburg the car capital in Germany🤔 I mean it is also called "Autostadt". This city was built only for Volkswagen. But Stuttgart is also a very nice, clean and modern city where they build cars 😉
Stuttgart is recognized as the international car capital when referring to Germany- Don't ask why. I believe it's because of the simple fact that Porsche & Mercedes are there
The whole city, because of the topography, goes up on the mountain and deep into the ground. There are shopping strip malls, that are largely underground, it's crazy. And of course, currently, they are putting the central station and all of the rail tracks underground too and some more non-rail tunnels being under construction. Also, Mike seemed so schmollig because you had to pay 6 € to take the old train up to the cemetary.
He was not happy about it but I paid so .... pfft he can't complain too much :p We have a system in place "whoever wants to go has to pay". It helps get rid of the forcing one to spend money doing something the other does not want to do.
Stuttgart is located in a valley surrounded by mountains - not hight mountains, but mountains. So you´ve to drive through or above the mountains to reach the city. The centre of the city is at the deepest point of the valley, so you drove downwards the nearer you´re to the city-centre and upwards when leaving it.
Glad to see you guys posting from Stuttgart! The last place that I worked in lived in Germany for Daimler-Benz (Sindelfingen). Looks like a Nissan Z meet outside of the Tesla store/shopping mall. Next time you both are in Stuttgart, please try dinning at "Ochs'n Willi". They actually have/had good Bar-B-Que and if I remember correctly, Tex-Mex, but it's still a German restaurant. IDK if you guys plan to be a two or one car family/couple, but if you're gonna' keep the XC40, then I'd get a powerful fun car like a Porsche Boxster (that would be fun to blog from) or Cayman, if you prefer a roof up situation. As well, as the new Toyota Supra (BMW Z4 platform....but, I'd go for the New Z, if it comes to Europe personally). Thanks for sharing your trip with viewers.

Tesla is like Apple. You can't get it repaired outside of the company and Tesla is watching you all the time - and if they want to, they just switch features or the whole car off. As with Apple devices, no Tesla for me.
What happened to Benz's "Motorwagen No.1" after 1886? He used it for test rides and then took it apart again. As he was always short of money he used parts of it for more experiments and left the rest lying around. It was "Motorwagen Mo. 3" that his wife used for her epic journey to her parents with her two boys. "Motorwagen #3" still exists today. It belongs to the Science Museum in London. So, what happened to the remains of "No. 1"? The "Deutsches Museum" in Munich got them together with the blueprints and built their exhibit from that bits and pieces. With some tolerance you may call it "the original". All the others, including the one in the Mercedes-Benz-Museum, are replicas.

I have found myself, lately, drawing a distinction between what constitutes an _actual technological advancement_ and what constitutes a _cheat._ Labor-saving devices, consistently, are cheats. The first automobile could be accurately described as a technological advancement. Automatic transmission, though, was a cheat, because if two people have cars that are otherwise identical, but one of them has _automatic_ transmission, and in the other, the transmission is _manual,_ neither is really better off; one of them is just saved the trouble of learning a potentially-valuable skill. Maps and map books are a technological advancement so long as one has _map-reading_ skills. GPS, on the other hand, is a _cheat._ It's a labor-saving device that saves one the _trouble_ of reading a map or _even learning how._ Bank accounts are a technological advancement, because banks are typically better equipped to safeguard people's money than those people are. Checks and debit cards _can_ be technological advancements, depending on the size of the _purchase_ one is making, because it's not practical to carry around huge wads of cash and it's practically an _engraved invitation_ to muggers. Debit cards that cover _every single purchase, no matter how small,_ though, are a _cheat,_ because they save one the trouble of handling even small _sums_ of cash and _developing and maintaining_ the skill for basic arithmetic that one uses for counting money. I tend to be conflicted about cruise control. On the one hand, on cruise control, one can drive for long periods of time with no need to monitor one's speed, and so might become unaware of it. But on the other, it's my understanding that having a computer adjusting one's speed can save on gasoline. I am definitely _not_ conflicted, though, on the auto-pilot setting in _cars._ This is a cheat. It insulates drivers from the driving experience _completely,_ and in the rare instance when the car wrecks while on auto-pilot, the company's attorneys defend the company by arguing that the driver was not paying attention. Oh. So in other words, he was showing confidence in the _auto-pilot?_ Of _course_ he was not paying attention. He was using the _auto-pilot._ That's the whole _point._ If you want to make sure the driver pays attention, take the auto-pilot out of the car and redirect those resources to _actual_ advancements. Maybe, for example, some kind of built-in breathalyzer that will prevent the car from being driven by someone with alcohol in their system. 🤷
Not sure if it was the camera or if you were really just pale with fear because of the traffic light in the tunnel. Anyway, after leaving that scary tunnel your skin color turned rapidly back to normal. 🤣
(1)- I was scared and nervous because I read conflicting information that I would need a specific test but they accepted the test I got at the pharmacy and if it wasn't for me askng if they were going to look at my test they probably would not have... But I am American. I don't know if you are American or not so it might be a little harder :/

I was just as shocked as you were when I saw that horse- I honestly thought it was another random German "decoration" that you sometimes see in museums.
@@HayleyAlexis I thought Europe was better off on EV infrastructure than us. If there isn't one close to home that would be an issue. Aren't you in Munich? I just looked at Plugshare and there are dozens of DC fast chargers in your area.
A bit rich calling Munich the car capital when the IAA is there for the very first time in it's over 100 year history ... but hey ... if I was in Munich I'd check it out too ... ;)
