On our way North we took the detour over to St. Louis to visit the Gateway Arch and add the stamps to our book. We had a small amount of time planned here so we kind of rushed through the museum area, but certainly enjoyed walking through the park and seeing the mazing engineering feat of the Arch!

Had the pleasure of running into Adam and Abby in Walmart while they were in Springfield, it would have been awesome to have been able to have a lengthy conversation but wanted to respect their time and not draw unwanted attention to them sense they were just trying to shop for groceries just like everyone else. Very nice people indeed.

You can feel the arch swaying on a windy day. Sometimes they have to shut down the tram if the weather is bad. Kind of feels like your on an air plane when your at the top of the arch.

I’ve lived in St. Louis my whole life. I’ve been up in the Arch a few times, but I get much more enjoyment from spending time around it. I probably walked those grounds 100 times, years ago. Our downtown has seen much, much better days. My hope is that it will someday, somehow be vibrant again. Whereas Forest Park, is a highlight of the city … more spectacular than it’s ever been. The Missouri Botanical Gardens, also within the city limits, is about the finest garden I’ve seen … ever. I stopped to comment today because I so enjoyed the positive and light hearted couple who made this video. Wishing you safe, happy, and meaningful time.

I visited the Arch 20-25 years ago and took the tram to the top. I was lighter and smaller then; the tram was do-able, but cramped. The views from the top are incredible. You can really appreciate the significance of the Mississippi River when you see it from above. Adam, glad you took notice of the welded stainless steel. It takes a machinist/fabricator/welder such as yourself to appreciate what it took to build the Arch.

We just visited the arch this summer. We stayed the night at a hotel in St. Louis and had a great view of the arch out our window. We did go up the arch but they don't let you stay up there very long. It was a relatively quick visit as we had to be on our way to Tennessee.

Haven't read all the comments, but a bit of trivia in case no one else has mentioned it: The Statue of Liberty on her pedestal goes up about half of one of the legs, and The Washington Monument in DC would slide perfectly underneath The Gateway Arch. It is the tallest man-made monument in the United States. Having grown up here, I didn't appreciate its beauty till I moved away & came back. Glad you made this video. I hope you choose to return and go up inside. In order to look out the portals at the top, you have to lean down and are essentially over the edge of the arch. You can feel it swaying back & forth in the breeze. Did it once; won't do it again lol. Cheers.

As noted many times in the comments, the trip to the top of the Arch is pretty cool! If you stop by again, the museums in Forest Park (not far from downtown) are nice, and the Museum of Transport has a huge collection of locomotives and rail cars. They even have one of the Big Boy locomotives! On a similar rail theme, near Chicago is the Illinois Rail Museum. They operate a handful of locomotives and cars on their grounds. Pretty fun to watch them fire up their steam locomotive and operate it.

Was just there Wednesday guys!!! Pulled our 26ft Winnebago down thru the empty warehouses to the riverfront and made it to the parking lot where we backed the TT down the steeeeeeeppppp embankment on the cobblestones and got back onto the narrow little road then backed our rig up over the hump and that was far enough..... took a few pictures of the rig sitting under the arch . My Pop's is 87yrs young and that's all he needed to see. Tell the folks to be very AWARE when visiting this beautiful arch... Many homeless, tent dwellers under the bridges getting to it. Off to the Badlands we go!!

Totally agree. While they stated that they got what they wanted out of their visit- and I fully believe them- I do think they kinda cheated themselves out of a really cool experience. Seeing how the arch was built and then getting to ride the tram and see all the inner structure, it really is an ultra cool experience that they both likely would have enjoyed very much.. Perhaps they'll come back another time; at least they enjoyed what they did see.

Curious, did they have mig welders when the arch was built? When I was there years ago, there was a bunch of debris on those stairs cause the river was recently very flooded up to the stairs. I'm thinking you will be somewhere really close to me or at least passing right by me since I live a bit outside of Chicago just off the main highway to get there. Are you camping or hoteling it for the show?

seriously while you're there you should have gone up in it. that's why I clicked on the video 🤣 look here I am terrified of heights and I went up in it 1995 and it was just a swaying back and forth. people have said it only does it on Windy days but I'm here to tell you it was not windy that day. but I don't regret it one little bit. it's a must-do attraction p.s. St. Louis is a crime-ridden mess of a city. I have a feeling you Americans have been conditioned not to talk about "the culprit". Of course, media is helping to make people ignorant about this (so called "13 does 50") issue, but that stat is incredible when you stop and think about it.

They say lots of things but I've worked in st Louis for the past 6 years, gone to Cardinals, and blues games every year. The city isn't different than any other city regarding crime.
