James, Justin, and Kieran traveled to the last Blockbuster Video that's located in Bend, Oregon!! They took a road trip down from Portland, after Portland Retro Gaming Expo weekend October, 2019. The sights, sounds, and smells of their old stomping grounds was like something else. A flash from the past, where you would always go every Friday night to get the newest movie releases, hottest games, or obscure b-movie rentals. Sadly, Blockbuster's 9,000 world-wide locations dwindled down to just one. But, that comes with everything turning digital... or with movies just slapped into the Red Box at your local grocery store. Regardless, the Last Blockbuster in Bend is a tribute to anyone who lived in the 90s, especially with their museum section and classic memorabilia everywhere. Thanks to the owner Sandi for allowing us to film in the store! And, sorry that our audio isn't the best, the store is very active.

First off, this was filmed in October, 2019... way before the virus stuff. We traveled to the last Blockbuster Video that's located in Bend, Oregon!! I miss video rental stores like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. It was a thing, you go out with your spouse/bf/gf/family and pick out a movie. You discuss it and sometimes have to argue your point and sometimes have to put one movie back. Then you stand there a while at the return area in hopes of getting that hot new release. Then you head out and get your eats, whether at your fave restaurant or the store for a munchie/popcorn/candy run. Then an hour or so has passed and you arrive back at home with anticipation running high you pop the movie in and watch a double feature. It was fun. I miss that.

It's a bit sad that the newer generations will never get to experience that feeling of excitement walking into Blockbuster and just roaming through the aisles or even renting out a movie and/or game and then dropping it in the return slot only to repeat the cycle again for another thing to rent. Wow i got emotional watching this. I was raised by my grandparents. And from the age of 4 until the age of 17 me and grandparents every single Sunday literally every Sunday, we went to blockbuster. Would buy some movies and rent some and maybe rent some games for myself. Then wed go get lunch from McDonald's or taco bell go home eat and wed each watch the movies we got. Grandma in her room, grandpa in living room and id watch in the kitchen on our small tv. I miss that more than anything in the world. This video made me so happy and sad and confused all in one. I still remember the grand opening of one of our Blockbusters in Lancaster, PA. Must have been 1990-91, and they had costumed characters of the Blockbuster mascots like the dog Paws/Pause.
