The little old lady in the 200 year old house (and most of the other old grannies you seem to run into) made me think of my great grandma. She died on her 102nd birthday and no matter where she lived, it always felt like this little village here. People coming and going, family, friends, people who I swear were total strangers, everyone just drinking and eating and talking and toasting. My family became very fractured after she passed, she was kinda the centre of the universe in our extended clan. Makes me happy to see people like her and the people who used to be around her.

When visiting Batumi, Tbilisi 2 years ago, I hired two cab drivers all along the journey, what surprised me the most wasn't Khachapuri, fine wine, or beautiful monasteries, but the super interesting tradition of giving toast during the alcohol hours. Every toast shall be unique, better be, from health to world peace, from Soviet Union, to China. I love Georgia and its great people! And there was this old man in Tbilisi who works voluntarily as a Stalin museum keeper. Hope he's as healthy as the day I visited him.

In Tenerife you will (like in many other places) also find witch doctors called Brujos and healers called Curanderos. Many of them older women with potions, ointments and fluids that could cure you. One of my daughters had an infection in 1989 just like Alina. My ex wife did not want her to have antibiotics. A witch (Bruja) who was visiting my sister where we were at that moment, went into the garden, and chose some herbs. She cooked them with a bit of brandy, lemon juice, cinnamon and other spices. Once cooled off, my daughter drank it. The next day the infection was gone and never came back.

Georgians are beautiful, yet very different, people. I spent a year traveling all over the country. Couldn't figure out much of the language whilst there (very challenging) but I made some good impressions and had myself a genuinely good time. 100% would recommend to any wanderlust people out there!
