Vito Jr getting dragged away to that camp is a really sad scene. A nice illustration of how all their talk about family and taking care of each other is BS. Tony threw Vito Jr to the wolves because he gambled away the cash set aside to help him. And he definitely wasn't gonna go into his pockets to put it right.
@ceerious I give him a pass for that too. But equally Vito (repeatedly acknowledged as the top earner for a good while) is a stunad for not preparing a better package for his family. Especially after getting his cover blown. He knew his life expectancy was falling quickly. But he left them with ceci beans!
@@osman732How about Ritchie Aprile. When he found out his own son was gay he cut him off completely. Also look how he treated Big Puss wife. Maybe it's because when it comes to rats and gay mobsters all bets are off. I remember when Christopher got made and Tony gave him the whole introduction he Saud God forbid if you get sick or wind up in the can and you can't earn they take care of it because that's part of it. Then again they break more rules than the catholic church. There's mo stigmata these days
I find it even worse that Phil really did not care at all or took initiative in helping after the funeral. Tony was right in the sense that Phil should've taken the responsibility to help.
@@theramplocalAnd the Clash song "Rock the Casbah" became even more awesome. All thanks to Tony going to his father's grave site and meeting Fran Feldstein.
Agree 100% on getting older and different scenes changing meaning. This is really an underrated sad byproduct of vito being captain of the good ship lollipop.
The writers were very skillful at crafting story lines, about mental issues developing from life in the mafia. This one about Vito jr. is more rare, but caused serious trauma for everyone in that family, for the rest of their lives.
The sick, infuriating irony of being lectured on how you’re hurting your mother and how you need to be a dependable man for her, *by your father’s murderer*
All of this from a basic misunderstanding?!? Vito Sr. was a fan of 1980’s cinema. That blabbermouth kid from Yonkers knew nothing about what he saw. It was a meet-up for Police Academy cosplay enthusiasts. They were recreating the iconic scene from The Blue Oyster Bar in Police Academy 1. All that New England stuff . . . it was the blood pressure meds. 🤷🏾♂️
Sal iacuzzo ruined vitos surprise for his wife! He was taking dancing lessons to surprise his wife on their anniversary. But sal iacuzzo told everybody even after vito said it was a joke! He was there! Chaps too
Stories like these do a great job of demonstrating how horrible the mob life really is, not by just showing how the mobster eventually got screwed over but rather *show* how it affects the people closest to them. It brings awareness to how even their families can crumble to pieces because of those illegal ties. A very heartbreaking, but true depiction of these tragedies.
With the father gone, the daughter will suffer psychologically with dating, young womanhood, and sibling relationship. The son, needless to say, will have anger, rejection, and violence early in his youth. The Mafia life takes from the innocent without any shred of remorse.
The Sopranos has numerous moments of torture, death, murder, rape, etc; but the most disturbing scene in the entire series is still Vito Jr. taking a shit in the locker room shower.
I was taken from my room just like Vito when I was in High School. The feeling of powerlessness and betrayal fucks you up a bit. Don’t do this to your kids. They will never see you the same way.
There have been tons of scandals and horror stories emerging from the "troubled teen" industry. Seems like it's just a place where child abusers go to have an excuse. Whole industry needed to be banned decades ago and all employees investigated. Really sorry you had to go through that. I can't imagine how scary that would be. I hope you found a good therapist who helps you deal
It's insane how some parents just have no idea how to connect with a kid having a hard time. My grandma called the cops on my dad because she "just didn't know what to do." And it's not like he was some troublemaker teen smoking cigs and playing hooky, he was like 6-7.
What's different about you? What's going on - poppers and weird uploads! .....you had a couple of uploads. In all seriousness, Vito's brother (with the worst haircut in the series) could've stepped in at the very least to help his nephew, even if he wasn't the sharpest tool himself.
@@ceerious I write about some Sopranos stuff elsewhere and that has come up before - it's like Bryan just disappeared completely. You'd think as an uncle (and a close brother), he'd have helped in any capacity. Just adds to the tragedy of it all.
@@ceerious Very good video btw. You pretty much took the Vito Jr story(or *arc* if we're being pretentious 🙄) and packed all relevant info into a brief and really entertaining video. We'll done Cee.
@@ceerious I don't understand how all that copyright stuff comes into play. I sorta do but I seriously fail to see how a humorous RU-vid short could have any effect on a nearly ≈ century old sitcom... whether it be potential earnings or writing credit or anything else for that matter 🤷 But good luck with it Reginald van Gleason III... I want to see it🤞 Edit: Thanks for the effort however it turns out 👍
Phil should have never clipped Vito…. The family would have been happy if Phil just let it go. And allowed Vito and the fam to move to AC. If this was real life. Vito would be alive with his family still in the mafia because he was an earner and making his boss rich. Money trumps everything
I’m confused. What happened to Vito junior??? It appears he became a gay homosexual of some sort??? Then he got taken to a mental institution for the rest of his life??? How horrifying!!!
Johnny Cakes was right, Vito thought everyone around him was stupid, so he could lie to them all the time and get away with it. It’s hard to feel sorry for him after he abandoned his wife and children too. He was always looking to get one over on everyone else.
While Vito jr was being a little shithead, it's absolutely insane that Tony and Phil puts all responsibility for his mother's well-being on him of all people.
Phil to Vito, Jr.: "There's no eating in the coo-ahh." Phil when he's evading Tony in said "coo-ahh": Enjoying my ice cream. Uh oh. Here comes Tony with his shine box. Gotta go.
On a level, this shit actually happened in Real Life before PC took over everything. If they find out that your father is gay, they rag you until your have to go to another school. It is sad af.
