Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a Moster EFI and a Mustashe 18.

I appreciate you guys sharing your flights and details. Interesting stuff.

As soon as they add a charging circuit, it will be hands down the go to motor. This would be perfect for a light/medium pilot on a simple trike!

I know the EFI is significantly more fuel efficient, no doubt. But the Viper XC is also a more efficient wing so the EFI unit did have that going for it. I am leaning towards it being a good thing but there are downsides to the EFI as well. Also, did James order the largest wind muff that the world sold??? Hahaha that thing is massive.

James here, for the curious my real-world trimmed in fuel burn is 2.7 lph tested 2 days after this flight. This matches the listed fuel burn in the manual with my motor having 350 hours on my Atom 80. Very impressive machines these Vittorazi motors are!

But at what airspeed?
@Khunlaan
@Khunlaan 7 месяцев назад
Gaggle says my average airspeed was 24mph that flight.

What about trimmed out and on bar? I can get 2.5L/h trimmed out in bar with ab average speed of 60 km/h.

tech is cool but why on a 2 stroke would anyone need EFI, Reese thank you & the crew for ur time in the video. love you all had a blast!

The efficiency is incredible, so flight time on less fuel is longer 👌

Come to Lake Wales and fly it! Get a few hours on it, you’ll see why

The EFI is more efficient and reliable and expensive. Is it the future? Maybe. Thanks for the info. Now, on to other content?

Wouldn’t you go faster in the thicker air close to the ground?
@dejavukrewe
@dejavukrewe 7 месяцев назад
It’s more relative to where the wind is greatest. Usually winds pick up the higher you go. So you’d look for the best tailwind and there are many apps to show winds aloft.

At least you could put the altitude, heading, revs, elapsed time and ded reckoned speed over the ground

If they had screen recorded their gaggle or used ForeFlight (paid app) I would have included that more. Hind sight is 20/20, and I wish I had thought of all that before hand.

Tucker tried to do it, he failed, but he didn’t have EFI!

Looks like a nice flight. But, a new, EFI Moster compared with an ancient, horribly abused A80, dripping all kinds of oil onto its muffler, and on a beat up Eclipse frame? And then the prop sizes were different and the pilots were flying different gliders. Maybe do this again, but with same prop size, same glider/size, *new MY22 A80 and new Moster EFI engines, both freshly broken in. At least make an attempt at some level of fair, scientific review.

Wish we had the budget of a proper myth busters show, but all we have is all we have. If you’d like to sponsor or know of anyone who’d sponsor this show, we can arrange for some better representation. But I totally get where you’re coming from and trust me I want to do all of that.
@Brian.Garceau

Fair arguments, except that at about minute 7:18 in the video, there is what appears to be a much newer, much better maintained PPG with A80 right next to the test unit in the back of the van. As to a sponsor, since Aviator is apparently doing their part to move the market, perhaps Vitto could also chip in?

@18:50 we start going over the math. You will see the average fuel burn for James was 3.7 LPH on his ATOM. This is pretty standard real world fuel burn of the atom 80 which is in line with the 2 other Atom80s we have put the EFI up against. Basically in this segment, we concluded that the EFI and Atom80 have pretty comparable efficiency. We have more tests that we haven’t posted on RU-vid with the same results. In the end I say that you get Atom80 efficiency with double the power. It’s actually about 50% more power and I misspoke. Welcome to being on RU-vid right?

I tested my "old-n-busted" 350 hour Atom 80 2 days later and got 2.7lph on the same wing but trimmed in on a 1.5 hr flight. This is within variance of Vitto's listed fuel burn, new or not.

I just bought myself a second Paramotor. I wish I waited and bought the Efi.

Vittorazi can spend 50 million pushing this new motor, but the result will be the same. The majority of pilots fly far too little for EFI to be worth the added cost. Then throw on the added complexity and fact that you can't fix any part of this fuel delivery system yourself and you've got a dud I'm afraid. If you want a solid motor get a polini 202 and take good care of her. She will take good care of you.
