Vittorazi EFI 30 Hour Review 

The SmartCarb commentary was quite disengenuous. A SmartCarb isn't just a metering rod carb, it is a pressure-and-flow-compensated flatslide carb that adjusts metering according to ambient air pressure and airflow (so it will work well at varying altitude). It's still relatively new (original SC came out in 2008, SC2 in 2019), but well known in the 2 stroke MX bike community as a good replacement for stock carbs (and many choose it over EFI). It gives close to EFI efficiency and performance without all the extra complication or weight. Which is exactly what a paramotor needs. It's also easy to set up, troubleshoot and adjust by the user. Which bodes well for middle-of-nowhere tweaks or fixes. The only real downside is it doesn't have a pump built in like a diaphragm carb does (which is needed to pump the fuel up from the tank). All that said, I'm glad Vittorazi made the EFI. EFI does things that can't be done with carbs, such as complete remapping with a single update / upload, getting diagnostic data straight from the system, etc. I applaud Vittorazi for making it. Innovation is great and if Vittorazi didn't do it, I don't think anyone would have. And I'm sure that as time goes on, each iteration will improve, getting lighter and more refined. It will be the ideal solution for some pilots. But it's not the ideal solution for _me._ I just want a better carb than something designed for a cheap powertool. And that already exists, it just needs to be adapted for our use case. I see there being a good market for a paramotor-specific SmartCarb-like carb that includes a diaphragm pump. That's all...

Great job answering all the negative points people tend to put forth. I have ordered one because i believe in the tech and have the means to buy one. I think due to the price will be a deterrent for some time, excellent point for those who complain about it costing so much, it really comes down to demand. They've spent a lot of money developing a product that's going to take them a decade to recoup... unfortunately most consumers have no clue on the expense of R&D.

I have a 13 year old Moster with over one thousand hrs. on it and has been flawless, I never have had to retune it once, they are great engines.

I ran an auto repair shop for 14 years. Just quit the beginning of the year. From that standpoint, I’ll agree that FI is awesome … when it works. When it starts giving you problems, troubleshooting can be a real PITA. I can see this being the go-to set up for people who don’t turn wrenches, but for myself, I keep my 2-strokes running as best they can at all times, so a little bit of perfect air-fuel mix before something fails isn’t worth it to me. If I were guaranteed that Vittorazzi would get back to me within minutes of a failure, & I would be able to send data to them effortlessly, then maybe I would change my mind. But I highly doubt that is the case. Anything involving electronics drives me crazy. I’d rather not have to deal with that. Either way, it’s nice to have options. I just hope they don’t go the way of the automobile and force everyone into EFI.

Thank you for your 30 hrs. review video. How is your prop attached to your moster efi in the background? I understand a quick prop release is not available. I hope to see and hear a lot more about the vittorazi EFI here

Love Neil’s stuff! Since My first Moster was a Factory R, I get the point of paying more for reliability,,,,,Hopefully they will come out with EFI COSMOS, or Factory R next,,,,,

So it’s still gonna have issues where we’re gonna have to contact the manufacturer to get it fixed. Ugh and at only 30 hours, that’s not good either. I’ve gone 150 hours without needing to do anything to the regular carb. That’s a little disappointing.

I realize this is superior to a carb, I also realize you guys are paramotoring, I just want to know the horsepower rating and weather or not you could bolt one of these motors on a Monotrike with a hang-glider wing on it and would it be able to fly. I am scared to death of parawings, so I want to get a weight shift nano-trike and fly that way.

I don't see why Vito can't use a simple battery-less system like Stihl's M-tronic. Meters fuel and air without all the fluff. This might be good but once battery density improves in 5-10 years ICE paramotors will be things of the past.

Why do they still have that unreliable FIEM starter motor . The bendix is poorly designed with brass pins that break ???? Even the KTM starter can be serviced this one nooo!!
