Oh God What did I just witness! A Magical video that took me back to the French Nouvelle Vague Cinema with the amazing music of Francis Lai! & Back To my favorite directors, & movies of all times like Godard, Truffaut, Éric Rohmer. Not only that but the simplicity of the video itself & its French classic vibe. & Finally your amazing film emulation and beautiful shots!! I raise my hat to you! BTW, may I ask what did plugin or LUTs, etc you used to achieve this amazing Film Emulation look? It would be highly appreciated!!❤🙏
@@madelproduction Man I'd absoloutely love a tutorial from you on your colours! Even a screenshot of your node tree and curves! This look is incredible!
Thank you ! and yes it was shot on full frame digital and graded without all the specifics of the 16mm film. Perfect fidelity is not the goal here but it can be an interesting color science exercise
This the best footage i have seen with color grading. Great job! I'm using a powergrade called filmprint and it doesn't look as vibrant or colorful. I slap it on and the footage looks dull. Not sure if you use a powergrade, but if you do, do you just add the powergrade, or do you have to edit the powergrade to look this vibrant and colorful? Because the powergrade I am using seems like I have to manually add the colors/contrast.
Thank you for your words ! Yes, you have to tweak with the powergrades ! I don't know filmprint but i'm using FilmUnlimited that has differents part on the node tree. Every modifications on each part does different results. Most of the time i'm accentuating color contrast. These powergrades are just a base to do your colorgrade imo
amazing! quick question, how did you get the RU-vid aspect ratio to match your aspect ratio. normally you see black bars when watching on RU-vid but yours is just the box if that makes sense. also, what is the ratio you used? ty!
Thanks ! I don't use black boxes. I just modified the resolution of my timeline. I'm recording in 4k 3840x2160 16:9 and I wanted to be in 4:3 so I just change the resolution in DaVinci to 2880 x 2160 !
Gorgeous work! Also love the soundtrack. Reminded me of A Man and a Woman (same composer). I was wondering how you're getting the grass to glow in the shot at 0:24? Is that one of the nodes of the Film Unlimited Power Grade? Using Resolve's Glow OFX? Or something else?
Glad you like it ! Nothing fancy in post, it was actually overexposed of 2 or 3 stops. just a exposure correction and a powerwindow to correct hue because exposure can change the hue ! In Camera I was using the Helios 44K4 and a Cinebloom 10%
@@madelproduction Thanks! Good to know. I love the Helios. Never tried Cinebloom but have a ProMist filter. Been curious about Film Unlimited. Have you tried Filmbox Lite? And if so, how would you compare them?
@@madelproduction Thanks! I agree re: Filmbox not having as much flexibility. I will look into the Film Unlimited Powergrade. Keep up the gorgeous work!
Hi mate! Really amazing work, trying Film Emulation myself in these months, just want to know: how did you achieve that "motion blur" look? It's very filmic and love it so much! Thx
The motion blur comes from the fact that my shutter speed is low (1/48 on this footage (or 180° shutter angle)) If you want to have the same on your footage (you must have this every time imo) you just have to set your shutter speed the double your frame rate. For exemple i'm shooting at 24fps so i have my shutter at 1/50 or 1/48 if my camera alows it ( if you shoot at 30fps go with 1/60) This adds a lot of light on the sensor so you must have a ND filter that is the equivalent of sunglasses for our eyes. With that you can have your motion blur and you can also play with the apeture (stay at the lowest ISO possible)
@@madelproduction Thank you so much for the answer, appreciate it a lot! Anyway, I know these tips, just wonder if you also did some work in post? Maybe adding motion blur or frame interpolation, did you edit on PP or Davinci? THX
@@pablogrisales863 Oh ok ahahah no i didn't. I am at 23.976 on my timeline and i just added some film blur : around 0.080 on Davinci with the Film damage effect :)
@@madelproduction Aww i see i always thought that s1h had a different color renditions than the s1 and s5.. i had owned an s1 for a year and sometimes the color rendition went all over and introduced a weird magenta white balance.. right now i need a new A cam tho haha
@@vyncensisio I've noticed it too on my cat's air with the S1H but not since. It was easy to correct on Davinci. The S5II might be the best for you (i personnaly bought the S1H for his low pass filter and all the filmaker tools. We have to see if the S5II has it too)
@@madelproduction high bitrate while shooting or on davinci? let's say i want to upload on instagram reels , tiktok or youtube ; what should be my davinci settings on rendering or where can i learn that
Hey man amazing work! this answer really confuses me, you said you're using Film Unlimited, and here you just said to check Serr's tutorial...So it is Film Unlimited or Film Vision? 😅@@madelproduction
