I designed that degree tool 20 yrs ago. Its supposed to have a 3rd indicator in the center for continual TDC confirmation, and the flat plate goes right ontop the cam rails, without standoffs. My degree wheel was white with 360 resolution in both directions.

Makes me realize just how badly the adjustable cam gears are probably off on the Eclipse GSX I bought. Previous owners had no idea what they were doing and I'm sure that's no exception!

I would love to see exact step by step process but if not no biggie, but the math involved it is more important...other than that it gives u a great understanding...

So if they spun it one way and came up with 6 degrees AFTER tdc, spun it the other way and got 8 degree BEFORE tdc, the centerline should be at 1 degree before tdc? Why did they put it at 7....?

5 intake side 7 exhaust side is a great number for b18c

how do you remove the locker pins after its degreed ? wouldn't you have to take every thing off cam runners cam caps camshafts just to get down to the rocker then slide the rod out past number one just to drop all 6 rockers just to get to the pins ?

Obviously this does not apply to “Degreeing in a Cam” However if you ever use a screwdriver to find piston position ( TDC/BDC) in a engine never use a “Slotted” or “Flat Tip” screwdriver, always use a “Phillips Head” screwdriver. That said you would be a lot better off (Safer to Not cause damage to you piston or possibly valves) using a Wooden Dowel or my personal favorite a Bamboo Chop Stick as a probe to insert into the spark plug hole to find piston position in the cylinder bore.

How do you know how far the piston stop has to go in? What if I weld I smaller nut on the plug. Won’t the difference in distance cause a problem

This video doesn't show enough to make any sense to anyone that hasn't ever degreed cams before (neither does Goofy' video) but the math is simple (don't need an online calculator)... Valve Open Degrees (valve open to .050" lift) plus Valve Close Deg. (.050" before valve is closed) plus 180 = then divide by 2 and subtract the smaller number... Example shown on his paper at 9:00 60 + 28 + 180 = 268 / 2 = 134 - 28 = 106 Use the same formula for both cams...

How does that help the engine ?

Stop trying to make it look harder than what it really is. I use Web cams on my drag bike and if the opening and closing points are at the points the cam card says they're supposed to be then the center line is going to be exactly where the cam card says it is. You don't have to do any math.
