The best thing you ever said was that bad things happened, and there's a scar. Scars are a reminder that you can get past the pain and thrive.

Progress not perfection! If you slip… steady yourself and get back immediately. I tend to be an all or nothing person, but I have begun to split up my tasks. My balance in the morning when I go outside in the morning for 10 minutes of natural light and air. Then weights throughout the day. Walking or biking during the day or evening. I love James Clears Atomic Habits.

Proud of you for pushing yourself to continue even when you are at your lowest. I found you through RU-vid/Facebook shorts and you have not only helped me to get out of my slump but gave me some books to read. I’m not to the point of jumping in a lake but maybe when Nova Scotia is warmer than -1c. Cheering for you, especially on the days you can’t cheer for yourself.

Too much in our head can end with us dead. Just rip off that bandage, take that next step, stop diagnosing and do whatever is on the "to-do" list for the next hour, then the next hour, etc., etc. Take pride in your accompishment of still breathing, walking, talking and doing that 'next thing'. Best wishes - you got this!

Heck, you make me consider training for a half marathon, and that is all down to your influence. When you finish the Hard 75, or even if you don't, I'll still be here cheering you all the way. 💖

I have just finished watching this, I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing some of your personal insights, they are helping me tremendously. I am someone who has suffered with panic attacks, depression, anxiety, including pretty bad social anxiety at times. Some of my life experiences have been almost self destroying for me, so your mention of moving on from that and not letting it victimize you is inspiring and helpful. I have tried to hide my anxiety. Anyway, I feel less alone in how I feel hearing some of your struggles, which resonate somewhat with me. My family and my daughter are what have kept me going all these years. I don't know if you read these comments, but I think you are an amazing human, I'm so glad I came across you on Facebook ❤

Hi lovely, I've been finding pretty much everything harder and my lows are getting either exhausting or Hulk rage angry. (Many things happening at once, and not time to cope) This idea of the 75 dais, to keep myself accountable for better habits and being more constant, seeing you helped to encourage that. So I'll see how it goes. But I'm up for it. Thank you🤟

Ok, so I LOVE your focus on choosing actions. We have so little control over anything else in life - not what’s thrown at us, and not the thoughts and feelings that randomly pop up (or there’d be more of us wafting around in a steady state of bliss). That said, I think there’s satisfaction when we try to live meaningfully and in-line with our values. So my daily practice for mental health includes defusion (ACT) techniques to manage unhelpful thoughts and feelings that get in the way of me showing up. I’m neurospicy - so from a practical perspective, optimising diet for brain health is the new number 1 goal. Finding a Lake to not be depressed in front of may now be a close second. Thank you Stuart. Be kind to yourself - keep on the journey!🌤

What you said about choosing to keep going and choosing not to make excuses was so powerful, but I hope you also choose to give yourself grace for the times you “mess up” by not doing it perfectly. Progress isn’t linear, and being kind to yourself and showing yourself compassion for being imperfectly human is so important. Every experience is a chance to learn and grow, and I hope this experience helps you grow into a happier and healthier person, success or not! So proud of all your hard work, sending hugs your way 💖

Your video popped up right after I finished meditating, which seems like kismet. Thank you for sharing your journey, with all the highs and lows, triumps and vulnerabilities whilst remaining your authentic self. You are inspiring, brave, intelligent, hilarious and strong in so very many ways. I am cheering for you. Since you asked... My goals right now are to be as happy, healthy and whole in mind, body and soul as it is possible to be in the body I have, to accept that I am not at war with myself or my body, but that we are a team and my body is doing it's best under some really difficult challenges, to remind myself that I can be proud of the progress I have made and at the end of the day, as long as I have tried my best, then that is enough. I am enough. While I will continue to strive for growth, that does not make either of us any less than enough right now either, and that can be difficult to remember during the dark times. I am looking forward to seeing where this journey leads. ❤

I'm trying to get back into a consistent workout routine after a 4 month bout with plantar fasciitis, and some days it sucks but it helps me tremendously to get outside and get out of my head even if I can still only do about 15 minutes of walking - it's 5 minutes more than I was able to in March!

I've recently learned that I am also externally motivated. I don't have an ounce of internal motivation unless it's panic procrastinating. You sound like me, and in my 30s, I'm finally learning what kind of external motivation it takes to get me going. For me, it was getting a health coach and a personal trainer, not even because.of their skills, but because I'm anxious about disappointing them and so I will show up 2x a week at least. If this video doesn't motivate you, find humans who will. I will, if it helps you, and maybe we can help each other.

I've been focusing on trying to keep my place tidy (I really struggle with this lately) I'm trying to lose weight so I can get rid of clothes, I'm trying to make sure I read a little bit each day, I'm trying to learn new line dances (this is my form of exercise as I wait for spring to end so I can try and get into walking/running) I would love to get back into sewing but just don't have the motivation for it lately I don't know why but the last few days I have definitely been in a funk and I'm hoping it goes away soon!!!

As someone who lives with ME.CFS and living in Australia, my goal is to keep to at least 2,000 steps a day and loose some weight. How about: I will loose 2kg a month over autumn/winter. Winter isn’t a good time for me. The cooler weather slows my metabolism or something and I do a lot of sitting and knitting or crocheting. I need to get back into meditation too and doing a bit of Tai Chi each day. I came here to comment on how whenever you get depressed, your solution is to torture yourself. Depression can rob you of your energy. It’s not ‘all in your head’, so you can kick yourself out of it. It affects your mind in that your thinking isn’t so great, it’s difficult to concentrate, it’s hard to follow a conversation. These things aren’t you being lazy, they’re symptoms of a condition.

@echeblog
@echeblog 3 месяца назад
First, let me say that a lot of us care what you think, Stuart. Aside from that, with respect, what's the point of this challenge? Why is the "challenge" part more important than paying attention to the reasons you're discouraged and then trying to resolve whatever's going on that causes your discouragement and lack of motivation? This notion that the quickest way to where you want to go is just to plow ahead regardless of what's in front of you is grind culture insanity. If you look at nature and natural processes, very few things (if any) operate the way this "challenge" works, so maybe the lessons this challenge is teaching aren't the right lessons for you. If you keep having things crop up that stop your momentum, there's a reason for that! This idea that you just don't know how to do hard things and if you just apply enough effort you'll succeed is a lie that's worth exploring because of just how insane (but common) it is. You have really good reasons why you don't move towards the things you want. Find out what they are because you're if you're not moving toward what you want, always working against yourself for good reasons. Then you'll be able to find a way to be more congruent. When that happens, then it's not a struggle anymore. Challenge doesn't have to be synonymous with struggle. You can challenge yourself to be more accepting, to be more creative, to be more at ease, but all of those require discipline of a different sort. You can do it, choose the path of more ease, more love, and more acceptance of yourself, and those things can lead you to your goals too. It'll be a lot more rewarding than struggling your way to anything.
@domdaughery25
@domdaughery25 3 месяца назад
The 75 Hard challenge is an opportunity to reset your brain to be able to lean into what is challenging. Everything you’re talking about him needing to do is probably totally correct. I can’t find anything I disagree with. But, when you can’t motivate yourself to do these things, what does recognizing what you need to do accomplish? the whole point of this is getting your mind hardened enough to be able to push forward and to push through even when you really really don’t want to. It’s not for everyone, this is not the style that all people need. But some of us, this is exactly what we need
@echeblog
@echeblog 3 месяца назад
@@domdaughery25 I understand the basic idea, I'm just floating the counterpoint. If you had a broken leg and couldn't put any weight on it, hardening you mind so you can push through even when you really don't want to isn't a healthy response. Rather, you recognize that what you REALLY need is to pay attention to what your body is telling you and to allow yourself to heal. Our emotions are telling us that same kind of information, all day, every day. If we investigate why we don't want to do what you say you want, now we can do something about it, because it's ALWAYS a clash in what we believe vs. what we say we want. Resolve that (and it can take work, I acknowledge), then we'll move toward what we want automatically and there's no struggle.
@domdaughery25
@domdaughery25 3 месяца назад
@@echeblog you know I think the broken leg analogy is perfect. If you have a broken leg, you do have to push through just in a completely different way. Obviously you’re not gonna push through by putting pressure on your leg, but you’re gonna push through by finding ways to get what you want to do done without putting pressure on your leg. That’s the pushing through part. Your broken leg doesn’t stop you from working out your chest, arms and torso or your other leg as well. Or, maybe you can spend that time perfecting your diet, learning new ways to bring good nutrition in your life. The key is to not let the leg stop you from what you want and you don’t have to put pressure on the leg to push yourself to the next level. Pushing yourself is not about being detrimental to your well-being. Anyone who thinks it is, is wrong. Hurting yourself further is not going to take you to the next level. So all the things you’re saying needs to be resolved, for some of us, this is exactly how we do that. Taking time off and relaxing all the time because I have some ailment is going to be detrimental to me overall. I am a lazy person by nature, and I have to fight that all the time. I could sit around and examine why that is, or I could just understand that fact about myself and recognize that it doesn’t stop me from anything. That all I have to do is keep going in some way, while prioritizing my health and well-being. If something bad happens like a broken leg, I reassess, figure out a new plan that operates within my physical limitations, and push through. Never allowing myself to be victimized by coincidence, but rather, seeing my situation as a learning opportunity, and a creative exercise to find out ways to get over that hurdle while prioritizing my recovery

2x workouts on a daily basis and strict dieting? That sounds extremely detrimental to anyone's health. What's the point? You have to rest between workouts/training to prevent muscle fatigue and physical strain on your body which affects your performance and can result in injuries. The "challenge" sounds incredibly stupid, would be smarter to tailor-make your own "challenge" (if you need a challenge as opposed to long-term goals and lifestyle) with things which would be beneficial to you, not some round the mill idiocy which makes people feel even worse about themselves if they can't keep up.

Just wanted to say your videos and skits are great and very down to earth. Keep pushing, and you're doing great (even with a few setbacks 🩵)
