Green sprout Moong Mix Dal
Ingredients
1 cup green gram sprouted (Moong dal)
4 tbsp chana dal
-21/2 cups of water
-1/4 tsp turmeric powder
-salt to taste
(Step-1)
-Open the ready made sprouts from the store & chana dal wash 2-3 times, add enough water soak for overnight.
(Step-2)
-next day, rinse once again,
Pressure cook soaked sprouted Moong dal & chana dal, add 21/2 cups of water, turmeric powder, salt to taste.
Pressure cook on medium flame until cooked through & soft (3 whistles)
-When the pressure releases open the lid & set aside
(Step-3)
(1st Seasoning/Tadka)
-1 small tomato chopped
-1/2 medium size onion chopped
-1 green chili cut
-1 tsp ginger & garlic paste
-1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves chopped
-1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
-1 tsp coriander powder
-1/4 tsp turmeric powder
-handful coriander leaves for garnish
-3 tbsp oil,1 tbsp ghee
-Heat oil in a pan on medium heat add chopped onion sauté until they are nice and brown.
-Add ginger & garlic paste stir until raw smell goes away
-add dry spices coriander & turmeric powder stir for a second
-add chopped tomatoes stir for 2 minutes, close the lid and cook until they are soft & turn mushy
-Now add chopped fenugreek leaves stir and cook until they are fragrant
-Add cooked dal stir well, sprinkle Garamond masala powder
-Simmer for 5 minutes
-Turn off the flame
(Step-4)
(2nd seasoning)
-2 tbls oil
-1 torn dry red chili
-1/2 tsp cumin seeds
-1/4 tsp Asafetida
-1/4 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
-Heat oil in a small pan, on a low flame add cumin seeds allow to crackle (don’t burn)
-Turn off the flame add red chili powder & torn dry chilies
-pour entire tempering over the dal
-Serve it hot with steamed Basmati rice, Roti, Paratha, Chapati, Naan
