Right on! I had a 650 Classic for 4 years, the bike was solid. I had the Custom Dynamic light on it as well. For $29 it was a must have and took about 5 minutes to install. I had to sell it due to moving, but next year I'm planning on getting a 1300 Tourer.

Hey, thank you for the compliments . I am very happy with the vstar . Given the bikes price range 10k to 13k, I have very few complaints. As with any bike or car you have to find a way to make it your own . I think I'll do another review video at 10k, by that time I should have a few more changes done to talk about . ride safe, be safe

She's a beauty! I have many of the same mods on my 2007 V-Star 1300. The fork wind guards are worth their weight in gold. I leave them on even when I take the shield off. Highway pegs, super comfort passenger seat, Ram mounts for phone and gps too. I sure do love mine.

sam smith oh didn't know you had a star, gonna swing over to your channel. I don't know if I told in earlier vlogs, probably did.. but I was going to get a 950, actually going to pick it up in flemington nj. Then I get there and they didn't have some papers for the bike . I saw this deluxe and fell head over heals lol .. was a left over. I do have the ram mount for the phone, but I have yet to use it as the phone is always in the saddle bag .. I will install anyhow. I also have mounts to connect cameras to the crash bar with the ram mount.

Great review, very well done! I have the 2013 Deluxe and you and I have virtually the same modifications.....now I feel smart. We have put on 29,000 miles over two summers and I can't believe how comfortable the bike is. I've not owned any others so my opinion is sort of biased. Keep the videos coming, love this stuff. Ride safe. Don

Hi, The V Star 1300 is one of the best Motorcycles that I have ever owned. I went through (3) different Bikes in on year before I settled on a very nice and comfortable V-Star Deluxe 1300 Cruiser Motorcycle. Yamaha produces in my view the best Motorcycles, I always thought they go more into details than anyone to provide the best to its Customers. If you want to lock the Bike you turn the Key to the left and it locks the front steering. Who wants to walk around to the front to lock the steering and wiggle the Handle Bar in order to engage it. Kawasaki and Honda require to do so. On the V-Star you just turn the Key and the Handlebar to the left and the Bike is locked. Thank you for your nice video, Hubert

+HubertBung very nice info You added, and thank you for watching the video. I do intend to do an update video in the future Also. I love the bike, have been adding an accessory here And an accessory There but nothing insane. What color And model Vstar 1300 did you get ?
@HubertBung
@HubertBung 8 лет назад
+dbest1a Vlogs Mine is a 2009 it is in bright red metallic colors and chrome, with Cobra pipes, it came with a trunk on the back , but currently I use only the Saddle Bags. The Yamaha Bags are ideal, you can load them from the top and you don't have to get on your knees to load them. (that is another very great practical Yamaha feature) One thing I want to mention, the V-Star 1300 is a short stroke engine that can handle higher revs, and does not want to be logged, I had to remind myself of that, I don't shift into 5th. gear much below 65 mph unless I drive downhill. Last weekend I was cruising trough Arkansas, it was the best motorcycle riding experience that I ever had. Years ago I used to ride through the Swiss and Austrian Alps, but most of the time there where high traffic so you could not enjoy the actual riding as much there.
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
+HubertBung those are some amazing places to ride, many of which I would love to even be able to drive to . I'm planning to do a second review video. I'm just figuring out when and where, considering the 10k mile mark as I'm at approx 7k . The information you give about the engine is very true , the 1300 hates to be bogged, staying in the most responsive gear is actually better for our bikes. Btw , are you a member on the Vstar 1300 wiki website and forum . Check it out when you can . I'm on there most of the time, I go by first name of Bruce.

Yes sir . Cause you sir. ... are the man .. hehe... It's a PIAA 60/55W 70456 ANTI VIBRATION BULB .. Also to add .. I aimed the lamp assembly up a bit .. which pushes my beam pattern out more. Just don't lift to high or your high beam will be to far off..
@blackhawk2475
@blackhawk2475 9 лет назад
dbest1a Vlogs LOL LOL...No no...U da man...LOL I've never even taken a screwdriver to the bike yet. Is it only the BULB that you changed and was it difficult to adjust the angle to it? Kind of scared of f**kin it up? I work on cars a lot but a bike is a bit different.
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 9 лет назад
Yes .. just the bulb . It's super easy . You should go on the wiki n find the download able service manual. You have to take out the 2 Allen bolts on top of the light , then take out the Allen bolts on the bottom of the light . I believe I had to pull the indicator assembly which is just a few Allen bolts . Pull the lamp swap the bulb n reverse . The adjustment is the little screw hole on the clutch side of the bike on the headlight side

dbest1a Vlogs OK...cool...sounds easy enough. Being a backyard mechanic for quite some time, I shouldn't have any problems. It's just I've never touched a BIKE before and didn't trust my abilities. Found the bulb on Ebay. Should be here soon. As always ...Thanks.

Beautiful bike. Glad I just happen to stumbled across your Vlog (first view). I will be looking at your others when I get the chance. I have been watching other vlogs & enjoyed them as well. You have the bike I'm looking at getting, but it's a 2012 and a nice red with the black saddle bags. They other bike I'm looking at is a 2011 Stratoliner. I like to see someone ride/vlog something other than a Harley. Don't get me wrong, Harley's are awesome bikes, but not everyone can afford them.

I also do my own maintenance, as I like to know what was done n how. If ever any questions just ask .. I know of a couple vstar 1300 forums

+dbest1a Vlogs Beautiful bike! I currently have a Star 650 and am looking at the 1300 & the Road Star. My little scooter is great at low speed maneuvers so the natural question is, how do you find the handling at low speeds like in parking lots etc? Thanks Ride Safe
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
The Deacon for the 1300 low speed handling isn't bad, you just have to practice though . Assuming you have had practice with a smaller bike, and understand being in the friction zone your chances of dropping it are less.. During a practice left U turn I fell out the friction zone mid turn, and the bike wanted to go down . I had to wrestle the bike back up, lol, with one foot .. 700+lb one foot squat lol..

Nice bike I have the exact same bike 2014 VStar 1300 Deluxe. (same colour). So far I have added a Cobra slip on muffler and had my ECU flashed (Ivan). My next step is to install the Cobra Powerflo Air Intake. The bike is a bit louder and deeper in sound now and the throttle is a bit snappier now. Also found it runs better at lower revs and speed. I also have the Cobra crash bars and Kuryakyn foot pegs and am going to replace my headlight bulb with an LED (6500 lumens - don't care if it's annoying to others) I found the stock bulb is useless at night. In the future will add front LED passing lights. My question is: where did you buy the custom windshield? I'd like to do that too. Anyway, I'm quite happy with my bike and have been enjoying some good rides. Cheers!
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 2 года назад
Yes I did the flash , love it. I also had the cobra slip on , but sold it . couldn't Stand it after a while. I know run the stock muffler with drilled baffles. The windshield was a CeeBailey shield 10" cut to 9" with vent. They don't make em anymore. The ecu flash was the best mod I made. the cobra powerful is nice to , just gotta find it .

Nice job with the accessories...I like the night rider lights, that's a pretty cool feature to add to the bike. I def agree with Making sure the wife is happy and comfortable while riding. lol things can get real ugly real fast if she's not! lmao! Beside the lower wind deflectors which I added, I see myself adding heated grips to the bike and a set of wind blockers on the hwy bars as the weather get cooler. Have you considered adding heated grips to the bike as well? Ride safe. Ride what you love & Love what you ride.
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 9 лет назад
Indeed I have considered heated grips, I do have heated gloves but I think heated grips would be better.. The fairing actually blocks a lot of the cooler air oddly, my hands did get a little chilly , but yes heated grips is a definet option I would like.

Thanks for responding, I love my bike too, I have 70 000 km on it (44 000 miles) no issues at all. It does pop on deceleration, and jerky on lower speeds, I checked out the website, it's $350 American which would be $500 CANADIAN, debating if it's worth it , let me know what you think after you get it done

Give him a call, very friendly guy . I called him and spoke to him. He told me a lot about what he did, which is already listed on his web pages. I must say the power improvements on the Dyno are nice. While speaking to him he said that I could run the cobra intake I have with the flashed ecu, and be fine. Ofcourse, I will do the flash then see how it runs. If I have to add the power commander, I will . Hopefully I get no popping. I don't have an exhaust, just a drilled baffle. What mods do you have done to your Vstar . Yes it is expensive for Canadians I guess, even for us. But normally u have to run a cobra piggy back with an open intake. The cobra piggy back would run about 350us also.

I am curious, strongly considering one of these, or the Road Star 1700. Love the fairing, bags, gps, etc. My question is, I think I heard you say on one of your videos that you wish it had another gear. Have you ever ridden a V Star 1100 Classic? My son has one of those that used to be mine, and it BADLY needs another highway gear. Just curious how badly it needs another gear? Thanks. Tom
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 6 лет назад
Tom Cecil It doesn’t need it badly if your under 70 to 75... above that a 6th would be nice. No I never rode an 1100 before. The 1300 gears are tall so your in 4th up to 60. So basically 4th n 3rd on most back roads. I’m currently at 28,8xx. N still going. Thanks for watching.

I just purchased this bike. So far I love it. Ive had Harley's in past and wont compare them against each other but as far as ride goes this is like riding a Cadillac. I do have a question for you, the windshield replacement and also the deflectors you put on your bike. Where did you purchase them from? (Im really interested in deflectors as with me I have a big beard and the wind coming up threw the bottom is a little problem. I like the review you gave as it was more positive than some I have seen but they kept comparing this bike to some of the larger Harley's to me there just isnt any comparison. Thanks

Hello thank you for watching. I did do my second review of this bike .. You can see it in my Vlogs playlist, or just my videos. I ordered the shield from Ceebaileys.com . It is a 10"vented . I did end up cutting it down to 9" .. The fork deflectors are from Memphis shade. I got them off of eBay, but they can be add a lot of places. If you get a chance check out the forum , Vstar 1300 wiki . A quick Google search will bring it up. I agree with what you say on some others reviews, but everyone has their opinion.. Stay safe, and enjoy your ride brother. Hope to see some video of it.
@wendellroberts2533
@wendellroberts2533 8 лет назад
Thank You for the reply. I do have a additional question for you and hope you can answer something the manufacture (Memphis Shades) cannot... Do you recall the part # for the deflectors you used? Ive been trying to order some but according to Memphis Shades they do not make a mount that will fit the 2015 1300 Deluxe. Well obviously something does fit as you have them on your bike. Probable anything that fit the older 1300 will also fit ours too they just haven't tried it out so wont say it will. Im thinking the MEK1934 is the one that will fit all of the 1300... Having a long beard I got to do something to stop having my beard in my face. LOL.... Thanks for any help you can give me to resolve this issue.

Diamond Coles my 2nd review is here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mLq3CjyjRAA.html At 5’4 I don’t think it will be to much, you may have to be careful trying to flat foot both feet, but that could not be true also. Best bet is to sit on one. If you can keep the brake foot on the rear brake and flat foot ur left foot .... you will be fine ... so far I have 32k approx on the bike and it’s been a joy. It does have Ivan’s ecu flash which smooths the bike out amazingly... thank you for watching, any questions feel free to ask. I am 5’11.

I ride a 1300 Tourer, but the ergos are the same. I'm 5'3" and it works well for me. I'm planning to by a Deluxe. I cannot flt foot it, but I can get both balls of my feet firmly on the ground. I'm 61 and am excited about the deluxe!

Awesome bike! I ended up buying a 2002 Yamaha Road star 1600 a few years ago. Love the bike, but it’s heavy haha. You have a great balance of mods to that bike. What is your average mile fuel range to a tank?

Too date with ecu flash , intake, and exhaust i see 43 to 45max. Usually around 43mpg. The bike has been a joy to ride and own. Thank you for watching.

If not try that and try again while out on a ride. Also it so towel insides garage

1 correction, the Mpow doesn't let me record, it lets me stream music from my phone or any bluetooth capable device to the audio system .. I got it from amazon, and the adapter from radio shack.

@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 5 лет назад
June. Hey thank you for watching. I had to wire it to a wire under the rear fender. There is a wire under that you connect the signal wire to. I believe the info is on the vstar 1300 wiki on the Delphi forums.

I ended up selling these, and making my own with plexi, and some angle metal. Lots of how toos can be found online google. Some also like the hd lowers inverted. These lowers didn’t work good with my passing lamps when I got them mounted up.

www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MJMV0GU/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a Bluetooth receiver . I use it to stream audio from the phone or whatever audio source to the motorcycle audio system ... not record. I just T'd off the amp output to the speakers.

@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
If it aggrivated them they they are to close, and shouldn't be behind the wheel either . When you tap the brake you get 4 or 5 flashes to let others know your braking. It has been nothing but a god send.

What does by passing the co sensor do, I have the same bike , but is 2009
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
bypassing the o2 sensor tricks the ecu into thinking it is getting a stoich or rich reading when at low speeds. usually it Would be on the leaner side which is part of what causes the surging issues At slow speed. There is a guy named Ivan that has come out with a flash for our ecus which addresses a lot of these issues, and makes it run so much smoother. I plan to get it done Some time this week. www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/vstar13.htm ride Safe and thank you for viewing. BTw do you vlog also ..

can I ask how big of a guy you are? you sound like you're comfortable on this bike and I'm curious if my 6'3 self would fit well on it
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
At 6'3 you would have no issues , you would want highway pegs though. Where you would run into an issue is with the seat. This bikes stock seat sucks. I'm currently running the ed seat and love it. Btw I'm 5'11 215 lbs. . At the time of this video I was 255lbs.
@travis091491
@travis091491 8 лет назад
Wow 40lbs that awesome man! Do you prefer the ED seat to the Mustang you had prior? (I think that's what you have on it in this video) thanks for the response 👍
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 8 лет назад
+Travis Sunderland yes Mustang in the video. I know have the ed big touring which I love. It was expensive but worth it. I sold the mustangs , they were terrible for me. I'm hoping to loose another 30lbs ... gotta get busy and on my diet... not that I'm off it. It's become a way of life now.

@jackieharris2854
@jackieharris2854 7 лет назад
how do you replace the headlight?
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 7 лет назад
Jackie Cali The way I do it. I take off all the small Allen screws on the fairing. Pull of the cover. then remove the 2 Allen screws on top of the headlight. remove the ones on the bottom. Remove the screws on the bottom of the indicator cover. Pull off indicator cover Then you can pull off the headlight bucket. I'm sure I missed a step, cause I'm tired as heck. you can download the service manual from vstar 1300 wiki . just search on the first page for manual. then save to your ipad or what have you. hope this helps, n sorry if I missed a step.

I just can't get past the fairings on the bike. It's a beautiful piece of machinery but the fairings just look out of place.
@dbest1aVlogs
@dbest1aVlogs 7 лет назад
I can understand. I wasn't very fond of it either when I first saw it . I accept it more now though. There is a lot of room for improvement, and development there, but Yamaha doesn't want to do any . As it is now it does it's job, so I can't complain . thanks for watching, and commenting.

I've never experienced anything like that , very weird. Maybe kneel down look at rear swing arm by the axle. See if the plastic with notches on it is at the sme mark on both sides of the axle.
