last weekend the weather really turned out in Auckland so we ended up going to a few different places we haven't been to in a while.
i thought it could be cool to show some accessible activities for anyone visiting the city. we took a windy walk along the waterfront in Devonport. there are views of the skyline, lots of little shops in the village and plenty of places to grab a drink and some food.
next, we went to Auckland Botanic Gardens, which we expected to be a little more lush in springtime. there were accessible paths and lots of signage, but a few long hills to keep in mind.
i had never been to Auckland Maritime Museum before, i'm not big into boats, but it was cool to learn more about New Zealand's maritime history. there were also several maritime adjacent artworks. very accessible with different lift and ramp options, also the staff were really friendly.
close by is the Viaduct Harbour, which was bustling on the weekend with lots of large boats coming in and out. sometimes there are markets near silo park and there are lots of accessible bridge and ramp options, the concrete tiles are smooth to go along as well!
lastly we visited Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, where I used to work, to check out the new exhibitions.
