Welcome to vlogmas episode 5! After a busy couple of day in London, I enjoyed a few calmer cosy days at home. I tried my hand at some homemade Christmas decorations and persevered with Tess of the D'Urbevilles.

It takes a while but popcorn strings on a tree looks and smells nice. It reminds me of childhood. Now I wish to try the oranges 🍊 also. So funny, I am also being stubborn and conservative with my heat. I have this soft fleece zip up robe with a hood. It’s getting me through. Lol.

I am thoroughly enjoying your vlogmas this year. It’s so cosy and comforting and just what I needed. Just got in from the freezing cold after being in work made myself a cuppa changed into comfy pyjamas and watching this is just perfect. Also most definitely need to make that soup it sounds so delicious and warming! Maybe even make it tomorrow. Totally agree that soups are expensive for what you get when you can buy ingredient and make enough to store in the freezer for another day. Loved this vlog. Thank you ❤

I think for your first Hardy you might have been better with Far from the Madding Crowd--much more upbeat, with romance and a strong female hero, I think you'd love it. Tess is known to be one of his more depressing. I really hope you try him again with Madding. Loved the oranges... I'm going to try that now! x

Broken nail yikes‼️ Milk Oolong Chai sounds delicious‼️ 🥣 😋‼️ Cold Winter Warrior tea?‼️🍊‼️ No burnt oranges‼️ Ps: I currently got 35 chapters to go in Little Women‼️I haven’t gotten any further in Where We Go From Here but we’ll see how it goes next week. Your Cold Warrior Tea makes me think of a tea we have here that is called Cold 911 and it's not great as a tea for "fun" but great when you have a cold or flu and want something hot. It really helps on those days with nasal congestion. Really enjoying your vlogmas!

Certain creative personalities have that disposition of melancholy and I have found that they don't hinder my enjoyment of their work.Maybe as you get older your tolerance factor for such material will increase.On a lighter note when you were talking about the weather feeling colder than it is wouldn't it be funny to remark to someone on the street that although it was two degrees it felt like zero only to be contradicted that it actually felt like minus one.😁💝

Yeah, I haven’t read Tess of the D’Urbervilles but I know what happens and how it goes, and I must say that I’ll never read it, I just can’t, because I want to feel happy and wholesome when I read classics (or any book), and not despair. You had bad luck with your wheel this time

Cats are really repelled by citrus! My mom got a pair of kittens last year and she was getting really upset that they didn't sit on her lap but they loved sitting on my dad's, and it turns out it's because her perfume was too citrusy for them and they didn't like it lol

Thomas Hardy's fiction to me is excruciating to read quickly and seldom have I time to read slowly. His poetry, on the other hand, is super-charged, with perfectly rendered ghosts, and ghosts of men dying in muddy trenches.

Yeah, you might be right - it may be the speed at which I’m trying to read the book rather than the book itself!
