July 1, 2018 Departure from Victoria, BC for the VicMaui yacht Race! Awesome wind, 25k to 30k at the start line! This was all of us' first time sailing offshore, & to Hawaii! Unfortunately, the only thing that could go wrong, an inaccessible inner mast weld, failed & the in mast furling main was useless...no way to lower the sail to reef or adjust it in any way....dejection for awhile, then, enjoying that we were all safe & we had super weather the way back! Big waves, sun & wind...what more could a girl ask for?!
