This is the VMC Magnificent Flying Machines Tiger Moth converted to RC using Microaces Brushless radio gear. Psudo Maiden flight (she previously had a few little hopes to check trims) at High Wycombe. She flies brilliantly and has come out at 51.5g using a 160mAh 1s battery.
Thanks to Toby for filming her.

That flew so nicely!

Nice one! I’ve got the same model and made hinged rudder & elevator, but this is my first RC build in 25 years so any tips on control linkages would be great. I’ve got a Lemon Microbrick rx board with 2 servos built in and made a slot for it in front cockpit position.

I used similar to the Microaces Albatross, 0.5mm wires with 'Z' bends to lock in the control horn and the servo horn, linked by a 1mm/0.5mm carbon tube. You should be able to find the instruction manual or a tutorial video, both show it much more clearly than I can describe 🙂

Lovely model Brian, terrific work. I am now going to attempt the same conversion. Did you use the microaces receiver with SR3X stabilization, and does your plane have ailerons. Any help you can give is much appreciated.

Thanks Wingtips, I didn't include ailerons, it seemed a bit much work and would have added a bit more weight. The receiver is the Microaces one with built-in brushless ESC but does not have stabilisation, nor built-in servos - pretty much the set for the Albatross but only used 2 of the 3 rotary servos.

@@brianseymour1746 That's great Brian, thank you. I've ordered the model and the electronics.

Nice, did you have ailerons on it,or just 3 channel ? Cheers (am building one presently)

Cheers, just 3 channel, ailerons would have been nice but I went without them to avoid the extra weight and complexity.

Bet those hanging nets have caught a plane or two (my depth perception is not that good so it would be a hazard for me!).

❤ stunning plane. What's the covering on wings?

Thank you, I used the kit tissue paper, it was my second model in the past year with tissue paper so it took a couple of attempts.

Bips fly better nose-heavy. Nice model!

What electronics did you use??

I used the Microaces receiver with built in brushless esc, the Microaces brushless motor, and the 1.9g servos from component shop. The push rods are 1mm carbon tube with 0.5mm wire ends to go into the servo horns and control surface horns.
