This stuff was brought to my attention, which may be old news for some but not for me. Now I have my chosen ones that deal with decals very well. But I'm always on the lookout for that holy grail of solutions. So I thought while I'm messing around with this VMS stuff, I'd video it if you're interested.
Stay safe out there.

Thanks Greg. I have that stuff too, not tried it yet. I tend to always use Set and Sol.. The Tamiya extra strong dissolves most paints.

It didn't really bring anything to the party, just another solution. I wasn't that enamoured with it. And so will be sticking to my usual products. Cheers Nigel👍

Interesting, but I am going to stick to my Mr Mark Setter and Mr Mark Softer, as they work with every decal I have had to apply, require no "washing the excess off", nor do they leave any residue. Simple, straightforward and effective -- just the way I like it 🙂 (Oh, and the pronunciation of Italeri, according to my Italian source, should be "i-TA-leh-ri" with the 'leh' rhyming with the 'e' in 'bell'. As for Revell, my German training would have me accent the last syllable. Sorry, it's the linguist and teacher in me coming out!)

Very interesting. I just use Ammo by mig decal set. I don't bother with a softener as I think that the decal set softens the decal also. Last night I was putting the instrument decal on the instrument panel of the Tamiya 1/48 MK1 Spit. It was asking quite a lot for them to conform but I just held a cotton bud soaked in decal set against the decal pushing very gently and they conformed and stuck perfectly. I think Tamiya have a reputation of being quite thick decals so as far as I am concerned this was a tough ask on the decal set. I'll stick with what I am used to. I always gloss varnish before putting decals on and I think that might have prevented the staining, however it did seem to come of with a wipe from a wet cloth

Hi greg. It's real alchemy with that decal chemistry. It's really my nightmare for every build. Recently, the wires from Mig and Agama (Tensol and Hypersol) work best for me. But on my models I will try to airbrush as many markings as possible. I was totally blown away by that :) Greetings, Aleš 🙂👍

Hi Greg, yeah! Not used this from Vms but have used some of there others like there varnish that works fine but you have to thin it or it will make a mess of your airbrush even with a point 4 needle. The only thing I use from them on a regular basis is there flexy 5k ca black thin, it's fantastic for tight gap filling applications. Like you say, it's a try it and find out for yourself cenario. Great content as always, I will just stick to what works for me in the old decal stakes. Thanks Greg. Take care. 👍🏻

I generally use Markfit and Markfit Strong. I use the markfit in place of water to get the decal in place then dry it with a cotton bud then I soak it with strong and make sure the whole decal is wet. I might repeat this several times then leave it over night and it’s usually looks amazing. I use Microset and Sol in the same way.

Putting decals on my Models That's the best thing in the building process 🤓 And if you don't have any decal Solutions you can make your own. No:1 White vinegar (Acetic acid) and destilled water 70/30 % No:2 Rubbing alcohol 96-98% and destilled water 80-20. Depending of the thickness or stiffness of the decals, you may have to adjust blending for the Solutions.🤓 decals

@@GregsModels It is this attention to the process of model building that helps us understand and appreciate the amount of work and time that you devote to your _hobby_ and inspire us to try out new approaches to old practices. Having watched most of your videos, in particular the ones relating to decals, I am leaning towards making stencils where possible and painting as many as are practical directly on the model. It would be interesting to see how the markings were applied as the real life planes and ground equipment were being manufactured. I'm going to do a little research on that area and see what I can turn up.

Very interesting thing. I'm Tamiya Mark Fit fan, as standard procedure I use all (Mark Fit, Mark Fit Strong, Mark Fit Super Strong). But I must check this one. VMS products are hard to get in Poland (which is funny, because it is Polish company), but I hope it will change. All the best for You! ;)

Great video Greg, thanks for taking the time and effort to make it. I usually use micro set and sol but results are hit and miss. I've just ordered some mig ammo decal solution, is it any good in your opinion? Take care and looking forward to your next video.

Mm not convinced I think I’ll stick with my old favs 😅. I’m wondering what it would be like on home made decals 🤔

Hmmmm, not overly sure about this product. It seems to work better on certain manufactures decals than others I guess I'll stick with Tamiya Mark Fit and Micro Sol. Be interesting to see how it works on custom decal sheets. Thanks for the upload.

Alot of people seem to go nuts for VMS products these days but what I've used of them I've found them to be very overrated. Decal solution wise I still use Microsol and it does the job just fine.

Thank you for this...I will be checking out more of your videos. I came here after watching the VMS video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Q5oukrNZ4g.html You made me cringe a number of times lol. I appreciate seeing a "real guy" doing things, but your failures seem to be as a result of technique, as you said. Thanks for this, I've learned what not to do! I don't mean that in a mean way, it just sounded funny.
